Keith Anderson 0 seconds ago I’ve gone to the ball drop 5 times for New Year’s 2017-2022 (minus 2021 COVID restricted year), and I can say the most difficult parts of it all is trying to get into the square and parking if you park in the city…. If you walk south down 7th Ave and get to the square by 10AM, it’s the easiest way to get in. You don’t have to go through them telling you to enter 50 different side streets… That’s how I got into some of the best viewing areas in the square without a hotel or pass from 2018-2020.
@@AishaLaDon A chair would have been amazing! The year we went they were not allowed. All that was allowed were small bags and they either had to be clear or they were searched.
@@ayoungblood84 ahhh, I see. Thanks so much. This will be my first visit to NYC. I hope the ball drop will be an amazing experience, so I want to be prepared. Thanks again.
I had no idea you can leave your area if you had a hotel in Times Square. I always thought if you leave, you lose your spot and you can’t come back in. Thanks for the tips. Great video
I thought that too!! Well until I saw people coming and going and I talked to one of them and realized they had a hotel in the area. They came to see a few shows earlier in the day as they were doing sound check then left and came back to our pen at around 10:00 p.m. must have been nice to go back grab some food and go to the bathroom. We were there for what seemed like forever but well worth it. We didn't go this year but plan to go again soon. It's definitely an experience worth checking off the bucket list.
Hi. Thanks for the AWESOME tips. So to clarify you cannot take a book bag? What about a clear book bag? Also you cannot take an umbrella to accommodate for rain or snow? And have you heard any updated changes for 2020? Thanks again.
Sorry! Just saw this. You can have a small bag. They will check it. Absolutely no umbrellas. That may change year-to-year but it rained cats and dogs in 2018 and there was absolutely no umbrellas allowed. Did you end up going yesterday? If so, how was it?!?
its december 29 2022 right now and when i checked the weather for new york (im in nj right now) it says it is gonna be like raining at like 48 at 12 when i get there for 2023 nye I dont know if i should bring my coat or my rain jacket
When you say (pass) what are you taking about? Like pass for the ball drop or just hotel reservations type passes. Because I’m interested in going when it comes up next !
A pass would be any type of reservation inside the walled off area. Comedy club, hotel, NYE party reservations at Applebee's or the nicer events are all considered passes which give the holder the ability to come and go out of the walled off area at will.
Thank you for the tips! How late would you say you could get there and still make it in? I’ve heard people come at 8 am and 11 am. What’s the latest time you could go and still get it? How early do the areas fill up?
If you can afford it, do it. 400 is still less than a hotel and you get an open bar and tons of soup salad and breadsticks. Sounds like a win win. Stay warm and cozy until 1145pm and then head out and find an open pen.
@@ayoungblood84 Pardon the expression , but it sounds like feast or famine , stand in one spot with my bad back and old bladder for 12 hours or spend close to a thousand dollars or more , to be in warm comfort , to view the ball drop in Times Square . @@Jay-vr9ir I found some info here: www.olivegarden.com/specials/times-square-new-years-eve - Should be able to find info for the 2021 NYE party around the middle of the year. I dont remember heli's being around (couldnt hear them) and I wouldnt think they would allow it with so many people being on the ground in case of an accident. If you want to see the ball drop inside, at say dinner or a bar you're going to spend at least 500. I saw some places were 1500-5000 per ticket to be on a top floor bar/club/etc. Going to see the ball drop and be in NYC on NYE is a bucket list item, but not sure if it is worth a few thousand.
I’m like 96% sure they just direct you to keep walking until each pen starts to fill up (pens closer to the ball fill up first then they fill their way up back farther) but I’m not sure

Great tips ! Thank you. Why no chair ? Too many people ? Not enough room or just not allowed ?

In 2018, if you didn't have a "pass" you couldn't get in until around 2pm. If you have a pass, you have free reign to come and go as you please.
I'm trying to go this year anybody hot anymore tips or information?
2019 was rain 2018 was freezing

What’s a pen?
