- The Umarex 416 GBB is a milsim dream come true. Produced by VFC, this Gas BlowBack Designated Marksman Rifle is a 1:1 replica of the real Heckler and Koch weapon.
Used by countless Special Forces units around the globe, a 416 is a must-have for any airsofter looking to for-fill that fantasy role.

Jw, whats the setup that you have on this? Lights, sights etc? It looks sweet as well!
Sweet review!! Was there any play or wobble between the upper and lower receiver?
No the two recievers were great. Out of the box the only wobble I had came from the handguard - easily rectified.
A few notes:
- When it comes to GBBRs "metal" is not enough, you're gonna want steel in the FCU otherwise a few thousand shots and something will wear out or break. Could you please check with a little magnet if the hammer is steel?
- I would feel better if a DMR would be a 417, not every game accepts intermediate cartridge replicating guns as DMR in this region. And I think that's fair.
- Are you sure the hopup can't be adjusted by locking back the bolt and sticking the allen key in? You know in the ejection port with the mag removed. Looks to me like it would work but of course I never actually held one of these.
- Can't you get higher pressure gases? Nuprol Red/Black or Abbey Vertex. Should raise your FPS a little.
You'll be pleased to know that the FCU is made up of steel components. It was something VFC switched to a few years back (2014 I believe) Thus is really only a concern if you're looking at previous iterations of the rifle.
VFC also produce a 417 GBBR for Umarex as well I believe - so something worth looking into if you like. Although there have been some legendary DMR's that utilise smaller caliber ammunition - such as the Mk12 SPR (admittedly with specialist ammunition - but still)
As far as using different power gases - you're absolutely right. The power could be dialled up in that manor. It's just a shame I was never able to achieve the power stated by the manufacturer on the gas prescribed. As sacrilegious as it might sound, my temptation might still be to tap the mags for HPA and dial the performance up and down that way 😅
@@pewpewpaladin Good to hear that at least somebody uses steel. All my WE and GHK gbbrs came with zinc alloy trigger parts. And I don't really understand why. I have this GKM, most of it's externals are steel and real wood, why isn't the FCU? People wouldn't stop buying them if they were a little bit more expensive because of those few small parts.
Anyway, my trick is to have a lot of them so they wear out later. But one of my oldest and most loved gbbr, a WE Scar-H is at least half way there, it's trigger used to be heavier, now it's really smooth, probably not long before it starts shooting full auto in semi and then I'll have to hunt down steel parts and probably ship them half way around the world.
So I checked anareus and they list the HK416 as a 360 fps gun, so you shouldn't expect more. Honestly if I wanted a 416 that 360 fps would be good for me because that would give me a lot of room for joule creep with heavy BBs on warm summers, we're allowed 410 fps for full auto guns. The problem is the 417 is also listed as a 360 fps gun and that puts me in a similar situation as you, I could go up to 460 fps as a DMR, that's too big of a difference.
And another problem is that except for a couple of tan 416a5s everything is out of stock and I'm not sure if they'll return to stock except maybe if a new version appears. I have this UMP .45 GBB in my alert list for the longest time. GHKs and WEs do return to stock, VFCs not so much.
And another thing, I know I'm just a random guy, so why should you listen to me, but I wouldn't HPA a nice gun like that, it kills the whole point, the realism. As BadaBingPictures would say, you switch to a ghostbuster loadout.
@@sogerc1thank yoy for your break down and insight. Currently deciding between the new VFC MCX rattler or the HK 416. Good tip on the HPA, the power difference is not worth the added weight and loss in realism. You also will spend significantly more out of the box to get equally the same results as a hop up and bucking upgrade.
