i'd love to know what are some of those family rules that you use and what are the scriptures you use to communicate them? like respect, for example?

    Yes consistency is key!
Although with 5 kids at different ages, I do have to explain that yes, a 16 year old does get some difference in discipline from the 2 year old.
Just as the older kids have to do more chores than the littles.
But the "house rules" are non negotiable!

Deferent parenting styles for our 2 boys (3 y/o, 15 months). My wife incorporates - gentle parenting and I use authoritative.. however I’m in constantly being coached on gentle parenting as it is the all be all approach.

While I agree that it’s not good to hit others, I think it’s also not good to emphasize gender.
Some women are bigger and abusive and possible bullies towards smaller meeker men and to teach that you can’t hit women puts more emphasis on the gender and not on the act of violence.
I was assaulted by a woman who did not leave my house when I respectfully asked her to repeatedly, as she was spouting negativity of my housemate. I ended up bleeding from it.
Not to say I should have hit her but gender should not really be a factor I believe when it comes to possibly defending yourself.
