FUN FACT: When Crewe said every year the good schools start with a tuneup game against a crappy school like Appalachian State, he wasn't kidding. A few years after this came out, Appalachian State itself pulled off one of the biggest upsets in history by knocking off Michigan in Michigan. 110,000 people were in shock. It was awesome. Maybe Adam inspired them🤣

I agree. I like this version better but only because of Burt's cameo being in the original was a great touch to send the movie home
I enjoy both the same. I cant choose one over the other. Maybe cus i have seen the older one first. And when this came out i wasnt expecting it to be this good.

A (not so) fun fact. In the original Caretakers death was caused when the guy rigged the light bulb. So the tension was real in this one when Chris Rocks version was turning on the light.

This movie is so hilarious but I’m not gonna lie the funniest part of this whole reaction was 43:15 with rob trying to to laugh at zuff randomly bursting into song 😂

You knew Adam was good at basketball, but Irvin and the other footballers were also very impressed with his quarterback skills. He was apparently hitting 30-40 yard passes like nothing the whole time. He’s a surprisingly great athlete for his build. Chris Rock definitely doesn’t play Donkey lmfao. Also that massive child-like dude is Bob Sapp. Legendary MMA fighter from Pride Fighting Championship. At one point, the highest paid MMA fighter on earth.
When he wasn’t taking dives, he went toe-to-toe with some of the most skilled fighters and actually won against some of em.

I’m usually not big on football movies, but this one is just so great. I’ve watched it so many damn time.
P.S. The reason the camera crew focused on the lightbulb for caretaker's death, in the original movie, Unger injected rubbing alcohol in the bulb... Caretaker comes in to find something for MC and the bulb explodes, throwing flaming liquid all over the cell.

I was scrolling for something to watch and this just popped up and I love ya fella's and I LOVE this movie so this should be great!
The Steelers did the same trick play they used for the two point conversion in the movie sometime before the movie came out. I went with my friend to see this in the theaters and when Crewe stepped away claiming no one knew what to do, I said this was a direct snap and it would be passed to crewe. My friend asked how I knew that and I told her it was because the Steelers did it.
This is another movie I went to see in the theater without expecting much, and ended up loving 😂 it’s so funny. And the soundtrack is great!
The taller at the beginning cop is Dan Patrick. Hosts his own radio show for a long time, was on espn for many years.
One summer our tv got shut off so we can only watch movies, n this was the movie that I watched over n over again n never got bored of it😅😅
Watch Mean Machine! Pretty much the same but it's unhinged and British af. Highly recommend.

Adam Sandler is actually an awesome natural athlete. You can tell by just the way he moves. HOF'er Michael Irvin said in an interview that he was beyond impressed by Adam's basketball and football scenes. Said he was throwing 40+ yard darts with ease.

What's funny about the "We play App State, kick the living s*** outta them" line is that App State won the FCS Championship the year this came out (2005). For 2006, App State played that clip as part of their pre-game intro video when they took the field. They won the FCS Championship AGAIN. Finally in 2007, App State not only won their 3rd Straight FCS Championship (The first time a team had done so in FCS History), they pulled off the biggest upset in CFB history by upsetting #5 Michigan at The Big House to open the season. In response, Adam Sandler bought App State season tickets. LMAO

I agree, Michelle. For those who saw the original first, it is (at least in my opinion) far superior to the remake. The same with Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and the sequel Mr. Deeds. However, art is subjective and many may disagree.

I can’t remember if anyone mentioned Bill Romanowski being in this film, one of the most hated/dirtest players in the NFL that played linebacker for the Broncos in the 90’s and Mean machine is a nod to the original film as that was there team name.

There are two actors in this movie that were in the original movie. Of course you have Burt Reynolds playing Paul Crewe and Ed Lauter who played Duane(the warden’s golfing buddy who said Paul slept with his wife) played Capt Knauer in the original. 16:20 he was also a cop back in India. I’d be afraid to break the law if I saw him in a badge. 47:33 They had a stunt double for Burt Reynolds to take the hit and Burt said he had one more run in him. Brian Bosworth was happy with the play cause he said “who else can say they were run over by Burt Reynolds”. The guys helping Burt off the field was real. He needed help after the hit. Wasn’t hurt too bad but couldn’t walk off the field without help.
