Those jerseys hanging in those rafters is my childhood. Single handedly made me love hockey.

I started watching this video with my 4 year old son in my lap, wearing his MacKinnon jersey. I finished the video in tears. Thank you Avs for an amazing 25 years, here's to the next 25!

    All thanks to Pierre Lacroix.
I wish we can hang a jersey for him.
If anyone that should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame is Lacroix.
    I love this series. ❤

Pierre was amazing. I was fortunate enough to know him during his time in Denver and am so glad I had a chance to get to know him. Just a great guy that really knew what it took to build a champion...and he did it! May he rest in peace!

@@BoomerKeith1 - He seems like an amazing guy. I really hope he gets voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
What would he think of today's Avalanche? That would be such an honor to meet him.

@@marie2274 I think he would love today's Avs. He was always such a fan of Sakic that I'm sure he would be extremely proud to see what Joe has done. He belongs in the HoF and I hope it happens soon!
He was genuinely a great guy. We didn't always talk hockey (in fact, that was rarely what we talked about) but he was the kind of man everyone respects and enjoys being around. I know he's missed.

@@BoomerKeith1 - I did hear that when the Avs have a full Arena they are going to honor him. Seeing the players helmets with PL on the back is honoring him too. Who votes for him to get into the Hall?

    • @BoomerKeith1
      @BoomerKeith1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marie2274 There's an executive group (consisting of guys from all around the hockey world) that vote on the ballot each year. He's going to eventually be inducted into the HoF, but for executives it takes longer than really good players. I would expect him to be inducted within the next 5 or 6 years though. He was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame about a decade or so ago, but obviously he belongs in the big HoF. I can't wait until we're back to full capacity to see what they do to honor Pierre.

Who remembers Parker? He was a bad ass. My player was Roy, I was a goaltender in kids hockey the years they were kicking ass!

I wasn’t a hockey fan until the Avalanche had their opening season back in the day. This team got me excited to be an Avs fan even through the bad years. Now my daughter is an Avs fan and she’s a big Makar fan....She thinks he’s cute....

I've been there for it all ... The ups and the downs . So many darts from the boys at work ( Quebec yrs ) .
From day one in Quebec to the present . I'm talking WHA .
Yes I'm old . I was WHA fan before my team moved to the NHL .
    My top three players are all so close , I like to think 1 a , b & c .
Peter Stastny , Burnaby Joe and Peter the Great .
I can still remember the playoff series' vs. Mtl ... Old Time Hockey !
So many memories and names . From stars to muckers .
I still have the very first hockey jersey I got . Its showing it's years .
Right around 40 yrs old , and still worn occasionally .
One last thing , Mr. Sakic ( I know he won't see this ) you almost broke my heart when you just about joined the Rangers . I understand dollars and sense . Sadly , There aren't many athletes in any sport , that play their entire career with one team . Especially long careers .
    Anyhoo . #$%@ING 💕 MY TEAM !
I could babble on for daze aboot this team/s . P.S. Canadian here , not from Quebec . Prairie boy !

@@BoomerKeith1 I've been a fan of "my" teams since my youth . Never even thought about changes . Die-hard all the way . The only one I no longer cheer for ... the Montreal Expos MLB ( lost interest after they basically were ripped apart ) . No longer follow baseball .
My others ( from youth to now ) ; Brandon Wheat Kings WHL Winnipeg Blue Bombers CFL Minnesota Vikings NFL
      Cincinnati Bengals NFL
      Never cared for bucketball ...
And finally , thanks for the acknowledgement . More used to jabs an jeers , at times .

@@steviepea1302 I'm with you! I'm still a fan of the teams I fell in love with in my youth. Nothing can change that (apart from something like what happened to the Expos). I'm not much of a basketball fan either. I'm a college football fan first, but Avalanche a close second. Denver Bronco fan and follow the Rockies (although there's not been much to cheer about lately lol). So, I can give you some jabs for being a Viking or Bengal fan, but when it comes to the Avalanche, you're a founding fan in my eyes!

I followed the Avs franchise back to the day of Goilet, Stastnys, Gosselin, and Finn. There were many great teams in the 80s, but Lindos was the draft that real help turned the franchise around with the 8 player trade with key pieces like Duchesne, Forsberg, Hextall, Ricci, and Chris Simon

No doubt about it, the entire State of Colorado rallied around our Ray Bourque to get him his Stanley Cup. I'm proud as heck about this fact. GO AVES!

Those Sakic/Forsberg/Roy teams were absolutely amazing! We haven't had a player like Sakic or Forsberg until Mac and Gabe got to Denver. This current team feels a lot like those Sakic teams. Grubauer is a very good goalie, but there's only one Patrick Roy. But, overall, I think the offensive firepower Sakic has assembled on this team will make up for not quite having a Patrick Roy in net. I love this franchise. We may not have the history of some other clubs, but what history we have made in 25 years is awesome!

I don't think it was ever personal. I think Roy had a hard time coaching in the NHL without having full control over the players (which ones to go after). He did decent in his brief stint in the NHL but went back to the QMJHL and never considered the NHL again. I'd be surprised if they weren't still friends. Time has proven that Sakic knew what was needed to build a champion. Something that I'm sure isn't lost on Roy.
