FINALLY! You nailed it! Everyone throws their filters away. It’s actually a screen filter as used in aircraft before the filter adapters were installed by aircraft owners. They are easier to change. Clean with solvent and compressed air and reinstall.
10k mi's on a 2021. I wasn't able to remove the drain plug (either over tightened by dealer, been told they may vacuum out the oil). Changed the filter. All filters have always been clean. Dealer had pinched the small O ring. Doesn't take much to over tighten those small bolts (7 & 10nm). I didn't notice the oil had been weeping from bleed bolt, as it had run down the back side, ever so little. I could not believe the cost of the large O ring ($24)! I find I need to add about 2-3 ounces of oil between oil changes (3-4k mi's). Good for another 4k mi's.
There's also a galley bleed bolt at the top of the head, some people feel it's like bleeding your brakes. It's in the service manual but not the owner's manual helpful for people who put in different filters. It's purpose is to check for oil flow to the top of the head
Good point and very true.According to the owners manual I just add the required amount to the max line.Upon level, its spot on.Also, stay tuned,Im about to roll out some good stuff,if you're into bikes. Thanks for commenting and watching.
