after watching a bunch of twitch streams and videos over the past 2 weeks this really caught my eye. people from NA almost by default, build suburb style grid cities. with industry, chruch and houses seperated. most if the EU guys had the church in the midle next to the market square surrounded by houses. with noticeably more curves in the layout. i think thats pretty funny.
@@Nyxson Yeah has nothing to do with where youre from lol. I too suffer from the idgaf xD. I just do what works. Just wanna play! A grid is nice and uniform and saves room. Maybe boring but works!
Tried for 2hrs, refunded. There’s a LOT to love here. Solo developer, the road system, the weather etc.. But this is not so much early access. For me, EA should be the game being 80% completed but this is 40%. Maybe even less. It’s a shame how hyped it was because I think it’s done it a disservice. I will definitely go back in a couple of years but for now it’s not worth paying to be a tester.
I appreciate your honesty on the subject, this game has way more hype than I’m used to for early access games. It would annoy me to pour lots of work into a town, just to feel that things were missing in the end, so for now I’ll wait. I’m interested to see how often the game gets updates, though. That would be the real thing that sets it apart from the pack.
Who says Manor Lords devs are...? They took 7 years and they have a tiny map and couldn't be bothered to even complete their current skill tree. Or to put enemies on the actual map. Raidable.
Yeah I learned from other early access purchases to wait and see how often they roll updates out. I don't expect Total War but I do expect walls, castles, stables, and cavalry. Even a small contingent of guards for your lord at the very least. No horses is a little jarring. But what has been made already is truly impressive.
I tried it for 2h just now and I am not impressed yet. I love city builders, I am playing them since Settlers 2, but this game is absolutely hollow in it's current state. One person alone cant flesh this game out in a feasible time frame, that's my big fear and the reason why I refunded it for now. I won't write a negative review though, don't worry ;)
I agree. Im not going to refund it. I'll play a little longer but it does feel quite simplistic/small/hollow. Needs more enemies on map. Needs bigger map. Finish skill tree...
I like early access and am glad to get my hands on a product while it gets completed. I've just gotten done playing for almost 6 hours, and yes it is most certainly worth a buy. I've even noted down a few bugs to help out. I'm just city building as of now with no combat, but what's there by itself is worth my time. Excited to come back home after work and fire it up again.
While it is not as graphically pleasing, but a far more fleshed out game, more complex, is Songs of Syx. It is a fantastic city-state builder. And the battles are actually pretty damn good. Every single unit that can get up to the thousands, has to be fed and equipped, and only a portion of your force, possibly 1k will be from your actual city, and can be trained (fight better in battles, don’t run away). It is definitely worth checking out, however the learning curve is massive. It will take you several attempts to thrive.
This developer knows how to play the early access game. Make sure the early game is fleshed out just enough to get them past the refund window. I played it for a few hours on game pass and I'll pass on this one. Whoever fueled up the hype machine should get a raise.
I appreciate the review. I want to support the developer, I've folowed the project for while, it looks great, but there's been so much hype that it's hard to find and honest review. It's like people are afraid to said anything bad, I've seen people attacking others who don't heap praise on Steam reviews. Even the developer has been trying to pump the brakes on the hype train.
I was considering getting it when it came out or a few days after to hear more but after your last vid about the super built up hype I decided to wait a lot longer. Looks like it will be amazing when finished and its great the developers got more money to work on it in EA now. So thanks for your honest videos ❤
I played for 18 hours so far (that was within the first few days) and haven't touched Manor Lords since April 27th. It was fun to play and binge play with the excitement of a city builder with Total War style combat, and it's not there, yet. There's a lot to be desired with the game in its current state, for 30 dollars though, it would be better to wait and get something more fleshed out. What stopped me from playing and going back is really just the static feeling of the game after you work through one region and get other regions unlocked. There's only one enemy faction, and the game has some glitches that broke the immersion for me. It'll eventually be ironed out and great game, hopefully. Don't feel bad about supporting the team, they got plenty of cash reserves at this point to keep on delivering more content to flesh it out.
Really great video. I absolutely love hooded horse as a publisher. If you are a strategy fan, it just feels like they are the new (and better) paradox. I am happy support their sci fi themed games especially since that is the genre I love most, but fully expecting more work and polish will be done. Good that you are trying to level-set expectations. I hope good indie developers like this don't fall victim to unrealistic hype, when they really deserve all the success.
Thanks for the review. I was planning to get the game after sometime and looks like I was right. I really have been waiting for a game like this and finally something like this is out and in works, it great. And honestly, I really hate most of the early access games as most of the time the title early access is just an excuse to get some money even if the game is not finished. But these people actually seem serious and I hope they are. I will get the game early on but after some updates roll in. Thanks again. I really love how you didn't over hype the game. Many other reviewers were straight up making it seem like the game of the year (though if they release a complete game with way more stuff this year, it might be).
? I was talking about bug, not issue with the harvest. When bug happened my crops just got reset in the middle of August. (Also bug didn't happen with the save in the video)
Thanks for this! Cant wait to play it and was looking forward to it but after watching I think I may hold off on it for a while and check on it every few weeks.
It's amazing that developers charge almost full price for a half finished game. The gamer is PAYING to be a tester. I did that once before and that game took 2 years to release a full version. It was so broken at first it was basically unplayable for the first year. Fanboys doing a circle jerk for Manor Lords
Sad state of affairs when gamers are hyped(and overhype) about early access games with missing features that should be in the game day 1. Early access is just a way to capitalize off of gamers FOMO and novelty bias. In my opinion I believe this game is just the "flavor of the month" and will be forgotten about(except for the outrage of staying in perpetual early access) soon. Early access is just a marketing strategy to get gamers to "buy-in" on uncomplete games and get a "quick surge" of income for the DEV's sooner and not later. This comment my humble opinion.
There is a lot of positive reviews but I think the majority of those that bought this game, aren't those that pc games companies typically aim their titles at.. I think those that that did buy the game at this stage, won't regret a single penny of their purchase, because they will be aware of how much time and effort this one guy Slavic Magic, put into creating this game and what Manor Lords will ultimately become. Even though it's an early access, there is still enough content to keep someone entertained for many hours and the current price is great value for that, whist helping support its development.
I'm a huge fan of banner lord 2 , i actually just recently stopped playing it because it gotten somewhat repetitive and i quote " somewhat " . Is this game somewhat relevant ? or is it more a skyline cities , but medieval and some actions integrated to it ??
Great review Nyxson! Subscribed! I just released my own review on the game on my channel from the prospective of someone whose never played this type of genre! Feel free to check it out!
Most worthless review that i came across, game with all its current possibilities is still awesome, the concept that Manor lords capture is not there in many finished games
Mate. Be an adult and detach any sense of personal involvement you have in a product. You don't need to shill or defend a game because of someone else's opinion. It speaks of immaturity and a lack of logical reasoning.
@mdc3227 he within his own right can criticise the game and I within my own right can criticise his review, spking of being an adult, there is no need to run a baseless propaganda about the game, its develop by a single person and who has been polishing the game so that we all can have an experience which we haven't got from any such game in the past, I played and i loved it period
@sanjivbhattacharjee9469 I didn't call the game worthless, yet you felt the need to call my review that way. The thing you did is not critique, since you did not bring any facts against what I said, what you did is called "Spiteful comment". Criticism - good, "Spiteful Comment" - bad (well, not for me since you boost my engagement 😂)
@Nyxson brother, forget about an indie game, can u name a single AAA game which covers all the areas like Manor Lords?? secondly, every where it has been said its an early access with frequent updates, so whats wrong to give this game a chance at this stage. Man has built a medieval town with the layout of a suburb in the midwest

@sandboxie97 I am neither from NA, nor from EU 😁 I build in my own, “can’t be bothered to plan” Style 😂

I like when companies use early access properly. Some games just say early acess even if they arent updating any more
Who says Manor Lords devs are...? They took 7 years and they have a tiny map and couldn't be bothered to even complete their current skill tree. Or to put enemies on the actual map. Raidable.
dudes village looks like a prison camp with that street layout XD

It might be important to give real feedback, because it seems like reviews are overwhelmed by the hype train cultists.
Hype comes from TW hate
You should write down your constructive feedback tho, might help making a better game

Most likely the wrong audience for a game like SoS.

Straight facts.
Is the game finished? No.
Is the game fun? Yes.
I hope it gets polished up well. It has potential.

I suspected. Thanks for the heads-up!
ty for being quick and straightforward! def subbed
The problem with your farm is the size. It is too big, and the peasants can't finish the first step in time. Smaller plot lands will fix that issue.
? I was talking about bug, not issue with the harvest. When bug happened my crops just got reset in the middle of August. (Also bug didn't happen with the save in the video)
Thanks for detailing what mid game is right now, that’ll save me 30 bucks, at least until it is released or closer to release.
Yeah I'm thinking I should wait a bit. Not because its bad but because I'm tired of Early Access.
Im new to Steam, and in need of a city builder. Any recomendations? I played Anno1800 and Tropico6 on PS5.
Frostpunk is really fun

80 hours in, still learning tons.
Looking at your town, I have to say it is probable you don't qiite understand what is going on with this game.
I'm a huge fan of banner lord 2 , i actually just recently stopped playing it because it gotten somewhat repetitive and i quote " somewhat " . Is this game somewhat relevant ? or is it more a skyline cities , but medieval and some actions integrated to it ??
I played it for 3 hrs and got no action.
i can wait but the price is pretty good.... so im considering buying it...also it supports the dev
If i buy it in early Access, do i have to buy it again when it's fully available?
Nah you don’t have to buy it again gang
excellent , concise review, as always
Thanks for the video! Appreciate the honesty about the game and reasonable expectations. I am legend!
You truly are ❤️ Thanks
I am legend… wait a second, are you just sneaking in eye exams on me? lol
Have been doing this for a while 😂
Great review Nyxson! Subscribed! I just released my own review on the game on my channel from the prospective of someone whose never played this type of genre! Feel free to check it out!
Great review. Thank you very much
Appreciate that ❤️ Thank you 😍
It's on Microsoft gamepass.
If I can get this one feature in free build. Being able to spawn enemies when I want to. That would make it an instant purchase.
Just stay away from early access games. Unless they are free.
Looks like sim city looks cool
zalensky is reviewing games!
I am legend.
I was very disappointed in the game
I AM LEGEND
I am legend!

Fr I appreciate the heads up. I’m getting tired of early access games so I’m prolly gonna hold off thanks to you
No shit it isnt finished lol

How dare you… my chest hair is majestic…
i just refund it not worth it
got game pass. winning
