    Reflections on metal are one of the biggest judgement calls for me, not only in detail work like this but in outdoor architecture too. I can futz about way too long disagreeing with myself on when I have the reflections best captured. This video has great insights on that issue and offers a lot of help in how to rate reflections and "shines." Thank you for sharing this!

    My first step when I shoot still life is always to wear dark or black clothes. Dark or black clothes are the first thing I would choose when I would shoot still life. I do this because I believe that white or light colors have a certain effect on the objects that are being photographed more or less in the still life photograph. This is known as influence.

      Yes, the standard attire on set is to wear dark clothing for all the reasons you just said.

    Very wonderful image, don't really do still life work. It appears you will learn a lot about seeing, as there were a lot of adjustments you made to really bring the shot to life. A lot of thought and work went into this image and the reward is fascinating.

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your comment about seeing is very true. We often need to slow down and just look at the image to really "see" what needs to be done. Have a great rest of your week!

    what about camera settings? specifically white balance settings?

    • @TheSlantedLens
      @TheSlantedLens  ปีที่แล้ว

      I always set white balance at 5600 degrees or strobe which is 6000. But I always shoot raw to allow me to adjust color.

    Please help. I have Canon 90D with 18-135 lens. From the day I brought, I m struggling with one issue.
    What ever pics I take it doesn't appears FOCUSSED. On display it shows focus point and the point seema Focus, but when looking at the same image in laptop it LOOKS BLUR.
    I have tried many steps, using tripod, faster shutter, with out touching camera, used timer and connecting to app even watching many videos came through personal calibration and did it. BUT the result is the same.
    I am not getting a satisfied Focus on the pics. PLEASE HELP, what can I do?

      @TheSlantedLens  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very broad issue. You have taken all of the steps to solve the problem. Before going further go to a camera store repair shop and make sure the camera and lens are working correctly.
