You also need to use connections that will resist wet and corrosion and not use electrical tape it's a good compromise but if you use good connectors and shrink wrap to go around your wires you're less likely to have problems only a suggestion

Briou, I think your ground wire is going to be too shor,..... yep. I knew it. Too short.
