Good effort and explanation is very simple and clear. You can add the following points to make it more comprehensive. If the neutral is not grounded ,detecting earth faults is difficult. Also in such a case ( when there is a earth fault on any one phase) the voltage of the other two phases increases to line voltage and damage the equipment connected to those two phases. Do not say the neutral is out ! .It is not proper technical terminology. Also even if the neutral is grounded ,the neutral voltage will be zero only at the substation end. There will be voltage between ground and neutral at the consumer end ,depending on the unbalanced current flowing. As per regulations ,it should be less than 5 Volts . Other wise sensitive electronic equipment like computers may get damaged. For this the earth resistance of the consumer's earth should be low preferably less than 1 ohm. It should be frequently tested every six months to ensure it is less than 1 ohm. One measurement of earth resistance should be done in dry season to ensure the resistance is low during dry season also. This because ,when the soil becomes dry ,its resistivity increases. Proper watering arrangement during summer months is important. Also in ungrounded systems, during earth fault on any phase, transient over voltages will be produced due to presence of capacitance and inductance of lines. This is called 'arcing grounds' .
