  • Oh BOY....Last night I went to Columbus Commons (downtown Columbus OH) for the 2023 premiere of the Holiday Lights display that they have every year. They will be up until just after New Years, with special events every Friday starting Dec. 1.
I arrived around the time they were finishing setting up a few things, adjusting tree lights and placing display "toy" boxes around the front. They had a street taco truck there for the crowd (sitting beside the street taco building that was closed) and while it was light out local CBS affiliate 10tv had one of their reporters standing in front of the lighted reindeer display (you may be able to catch her during this video while I myself was moving around the display).
It had been raining pretty much all day, cold and wet. I was hoping we'd get a break in the weather while I was down there filming, and for a time the rain did indeed slow down to barely a sprinkle.
So I walked around some of the displays while it was still light out and did video while final prep was made, and then I waited till it got darker out so the lights would show up nice. Even the carousel was on display.
It finally got dark enough to film the lights. The "crowd" consisted of the occasional dog walker and people walking across field to get to S. High St. Not exactly the great premiere they were hoping for. Sure hope the taco truck made bank last night.
Oh, and just as I started filming, the rain started up again. Talk about luck :) But despite all that, I thought it looked nice and Christmassy.
All the same though, I'll be back there on Dec.1, hoping there'll be more of a crowd. Oh, and I added some holiday-themed Christmas Jazz instrumental music to get you all in the holiday mood.
    Happy Holidays, everyone!
