She didn't run out of time. Amanda showed that she was able to make the necessary adjustments and proved to be the better, more well-rounded fighter. There wasn't a point in the rematch where we thought Pena could win, it was a definitive victory for Amanda. Maybe rack up a couple of impressive wins to make a case for herself. Not many names in the division so it's not a monumental ask.

Even in the first fight, the first round went how it was supposed to go. Nunes somehow didn't look herself in the 2nd round before tapping out. Pena should win at least one fight to make people more invested in the 3rd fight with Amanda.

I think Amanda took a head but and that's why her head looked like that after the fight. Amanda said she had knee issues that contributed to her first loss. I think her knees got better, just enough to allow her to move around which is why she showed better foot work in the rematch, but after the fight, her bad knees were feeling the effects of all that moving. I think Amanda really needs to take care of her knees so that they don't give her ongoing problems. But these are the reasons for the crutches and how she looked. I will say that Juliana got a few good shots in here and there, but it was still a definitive victory for Amanda.

I also agree with Cormier. Alot of people saw the fight as one of those exciting yet not competitive type of fights. Peña showed toughness and heart, but she also showed she was clearly not the better fighter to Nunes that night. I say she fights one or two top 5 in the bantamweight division and we should see then if she does deserve trilogy.

Peña did the unthinkable, however she said it herself, that the rematch would prove that the first fight wasn’t a fluke. She was wrong. The rematch proved the opposite to her chagrin. If it wasn’t for a clash of heads, Nunes would’ve looked clean and only Peña would have looked worse for wear.

I said from day one when Pena went on Rogaine and continued relentlessly addressing him about 'doubting her', she needs to not hold grudges so tightly. There's an overused expression of "The same people who say X are the same people who say Y" but in this case, the same people saying Julianna Pena doesn't deserve a rematch are LITERALLY the same people who said Nunes would destroy her in the first fight. Seems like some form of confirmation bias that Nunes is out of her league when they are literally 1-1, with Pena finishing Nunes and Nunes not finishing Pena.
Let's not pretend Nunes wasnt clearly compromised in the first fight. That being the only reason she lost.
Whether you finish or not finish, the person who's more dominant is clear. Pena lost every round of the second fight and got knocked down multiple times and controlled and taken down multiple times. She was beat ferociously in both departments, at her own style being wrestling, and in the striking. That usually doesn't warrant a rematch, especially against the GOAT. Amanda proved she was the goat that match and that the first fight was a fluke by her performance in the rematch. Julianna didn't really prove anything, especially with the boxing she displayed in the 2nd fight. She literally charged at Nunes like she was swimming underwater, with no timing or accuracy. You'd be insane to think she deserves a rematch at this point. She was outclassed.

DC DOMINATED the light heavyweight devision minus Jon Jones. And when he moved up to heavyweight he beat stipe as well as successfully defended his heavyweight title before losing it. That’s why he got immediate rematches. U beat Amanda in a fight that looked like a fluke win and that second fight proved it was. 😂
She did not deserve a title shot in the first place and for her first defense she got 50-44’d so of course she does not deserve a rematch

In no way shape or form in any logical sense she deserves an immediate rematch after getting absolutely demolished in that 2nd fight. Just because a trilogy is there doesn’t mean it has to be immediate. Go fight Holly or Aldana and if you win maybe you get the trilogy.
