I am so sick and tired of people demolishing a piece of old history. The Barrow Filing Station should have been keeped for a National Landmark.

From 1976 to 1978, I drove hardware supplies from Arlington throughout the D/FW metroplex. I often took Singleton into the industrial districts, and drove by the HB Barrow Star Station every week, as my old Mapsco grid map shows, at the corner of Singleton and Borger. Only once, I stopped to look around what this video shows. As Nick says, it was desolate, abandoned, and badly neglected. No one then thought it would be taken down. A girlfriend told me the Barrow brothers, Clyde and Buck, used to steal chickens from her grandfather in West Dallas. He never stopped them, since he knew their family was starving. This desperation led the boys to the tragic crimes which ended theirs and Bonnie's lives. I hated learning this landmark, decrepit as it was, had been demolished. It should have been left alone, and let the people decide for themselves what they think of it.

It’s a real shame it was demolished. I wish it was kept a national landmark but unfortunately not. Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for sharing...I guess we all feel somehow connected to history...what also strikes me the most is the Hartgraves Cafe where Bonnie was waitressing and apparently a sweetheart laughing at her customers jokes, taking orders from the back building across and to come out to sit on those door steps behind for a Smoke during her breaks to relax her feet
" Hopefully they keep that building " make some sort of a cafe or museum and have proceeds to the victims of fallen officers or something I guess...THANK YOU once again 🙏

This is is a tough one. I can see both sides. When you think about it, around 90 years have passed since this pair was around, and the matter finally got *resolved, resulting in disharmony. Did those who wanted it preserved, as an historic site, feel it might bring more tourists to the area, I wonder? As you said, the owner had the final say, Nick. I wonder what he's going to do with this controversial property. That's wonderful that you have it recorded.
    Thanks, as always, Nick.👏👏

Sad that it was torn down and would have made an interesting look back at life at the times and a great museum. I guess with property values today the land was more valuable to the owner than the history . Not sure why the tale of 2 outlaws caught the fancy of people but it sure did including me. Bonnie and Clyde were good people I believe they were pushing back in a brutal world they lived in. Especially after the treatment Clyde received in the Texas prison. Things No young man should ever have to experience. I’m glad he returned some pay back on them. I respect his fearlessness.

This old shack was a part of America’s depression days that turned a few men to a fast hard life on the run. & the dirty cops didn’t help, We should all say, Thanks FDR

HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD The city that it needed to be moved, or he was going to demolish it. That way they could either move the building or put some type of lien or demolition freeze on it till they could make it a landmark. Our country has this thing about destroying the past that needs to come to a stop. This landowner needs to be held to some kind of responsibility for this because it’s not right to demolish something that is part of history. There is hardly anything over in that part of Dallas of any kind of landmark so that would’ve been nice to have. Now that land will probably sit there for years. Nothing being built on it and that could’ve stayed there , this was senseless and him just showing I want since it’s mine. I’ll do iwhat I please he needs to pay a price by the city of of Dallas legally. It needs to cost him financially for his horrible Travesty that he made

Ya can't stand in the way of progress sadly. that filling station sat on prime property for development and will be devoloped soon i hope instead of sittin there an empty lot. Just like the place where they took their bodies to be imbalmed and autopsied, it is torn down as well, still an emty lot, made into a sort of park rememberence. Their are some that would say law enforceforcement should have given them a chance to surrender on that teas desolate road instead of just come out guns blazing, but law enforcement knew these two would never give up and come out shooting anyways, so they decided to just shoot up the car and bring this end to very violent criminal couple who killed people and robbed banks. The ultimate middle finger by lw eneforcement to the bonnie and clyde duo was that they were not buried next to each other like they wanted to be, they were buried miles apart from each other much to the disagreement of some of the family who knew their wishes. It is what it is, can't change it.

Funny thing is there is very little about the victims of these monsters, yet their lives are well documented. Kinda like Manson except his victims were celebrities (Well, the first group anyway). Doesn't speak well of our society.
