This Park sign describes "the Snake"
"You are standing at the top of curves that road enthusiasts affectionately call "The Snake". Over the years Mulholland Highway has tested the merits of cars from Duesenbergs to Teslas. This particular stretch of road is a mecca for motorcyclists. It's sharp turns offer an adrenaline rush and a chance for fun, fame and often folly.
To your left is "Edwards Corner". It was named after the late Ed Savko, long-time owner of the Rock Store., a popular road house just down the hill. Hundreds of riders have (----) on this challenging 180- degree curve, perhaps showing off for spectators, who often gather here. Other succumb safely to the charm of "The Snake." "

There is no doubt that you take the best video up on Mulholland. I went there last year and was blown away by the debris on the road, the lack of run off and dust on the road. These riders have balls of steel.

9:22 the acceleration of these bikes are mind blowing, you can see it pulling as soon as he rolls on the throttle, even from a far pan on camera. One of the greatest sounds ever too.

@@dyingangelo the area where this was being filmed above "The Rock Store" so burned down. Huge California wildfires burned the entire both sides of the mountain so the vegetation is all gone. They closed it because when there's no vegetation the hillside just keeps collapsing because nothing is holding it together anymore. Crazy huh? I always thought the dirt from the mountain was hard and stayed compacted. But especially after a hard rain all the hill side just runs down into the street so they've had it closed for quite a while now and I'm sure covid didn't help the situation.

Just from what I can sermaise based on the accident he was hauling tail on a right hand sweeper where a car was coming out of an intersection, probably to head down the mountain and he most likely T boned that car

For everyone commenting about the Blue and White R1. He runs without a rear brake. Now that takes skills.
Most pretty much never use rear brake on a sport bike anyway. If he was riding without front brake - that would be a skill 😂

That first gen crossplane R1 rider is a beast, great lines and smooth as butter. Look at the fluid control @4:25 , real deal.

Iqbal Hakeem it's not. It same as other bikes in this category (need to meet regulations), the pitch makes it seem to be louder.
Nice save @4:39, he almost tucked the front. Watch his elbow instinctively go out to try and stop the fall, but he saved it like a G and powered right through it as you should. And the wheels @9:08 or just the way he dealt with that curve was sweet.
Gor absolutely kills it. As do you on the camera.

How does the wheelie-riding Harley at 6:10 even maintain oil pressure? That thing was totally vertical! And another thing -- I think that some of these guys were driving in excess of the posted speed limits and warning speeds. I'm not surprised that the one rider received a citation.
And seriously nice composition on so many of these shots. A pleasure to watch.

North Hollywood Mulholland ridge runner here. Back in the 70s I used to sometimes ride the Malibu section at speed in my buttoned down '65 Mustang and sometimes got chased by crazy two wheelers. Given the wind blown dirt and marbles on the tighties and the otherwise general trash and me on 4 wheels power sliding, I never figured out how any of those guys never wiped out. (We're talking 95+ in the straights). Latigo Canyon Road to the sea is an absolute bitch. Respect.

Great quality video. I enjoy watching these even more now that I've actually had a chance to ride these roads myself - I was down in LA about a month ago and rented a Triumph Tiger XcX for a day.

LOL Yeah that was me. I needed a lot more throttle going that fast.
@@WeeZee110405 - don't pull a wheelie on the exit of a bend. It slows the bike down and it's a pretty good method of going off. You've slowed for the bend so now you want to accelerate, get low over the front of the bike to keep it down and pour the coals on. We don't have straight roads this side of the pond, we get a lot of practise doing bends.
