- Time to try out these LED lights on the Mini and see how good they are including the auto dimming feature and lack or cornering lights.
Fog lights are immensely good though.
As always my style is to go out and explore the car not research it to death in advance so.
As to why I was up at 530am doing this. Blame Octopus Agile. My body clock wakes up when it's cheap energy time 😂.
Don't forget, if you drive an EV you need the best green energy tariff to go with it to keep your electric bills down and to avoid the old question of "but you're running on coal really aren't you?"

Very nice clear lighting there Nigel. I remember when LED's were only used for power on indications on sockets etc. 👍⚡️
Old lights are more like candles . Technology is great
@@EVPuzzle The ZE40 I had absolutely had candles. Worst headlights on any car I've ever had. I wouldn't touch any car that didn't have at least LEDs, ideally matrix ones, now. The Corsa ones do shape shifting. Leaf LEDs on the Tekna weren't bad either but the Corsa ones have definitely moved it on.
The puddle lights aka ‘bat’ lights are my favourite feature, so cool

Have revisited this very useful video as I too have a 2021 EV mini with the adaptive headlights the same as your current mini. Although this video was on your previous mini I expect it is very similar. I will get to the point now, I needed to put the dipped headlights on during daylight in a heavy rain storm using the switch by your right knee but no symbol came up on the dash. When using auto dip at night this symbol comes up ok.
I noticed on your video the manual dipped headlight symbol did not come up either. Perhaps I am being to picky but you cannot tell the dipped headlights are ON during the day.
Maybe the mini daylight headlight ring is sufficient during the day and at night to use the auto. Have you any thoughts on this. Love all your videos.
I've not checked this in daylight. I'd expect the green light to be On on the dash
I think the only dazzle you may give on coming vehicles from low mounted fog lights would be reflection on wet roads, however this is just a theory of mine which may be incorrect.
In Australia you can get fined and loss of points by the police for using fog lights when it’s not foggy. Is that the same in the UK?
Rear ones maybe but all the Coopers are looking out for Frenchmen to deport at the moment😉
The Kona has cornering lights! 😂
I'll just leave the fog lights on. Kona doesn't have fog lights and arent the cornering lights old halogens? 🤔😂

Kona Vs Mini is a great comparison as they're both great but not at the same things. Now if you could combine them....?
@@EVPuzzle often the case with most cars they all have great features but not all the ones you want. Trouble is your must have list will be different from someone else's.
I like to be different
I find oncoming cars seem to have much brighter lights these days and often not well adjusted. It doesn't help that as I get older I definitely get issues with glare. Road Tests hardly ever mention lights and these are important for those of us who drive at night a lot of the time. The Mini lights look pretty good from your video. My Zoe ZE40 had very weak lights and even upgraded bulbs didn't help much. The 2007 Mégane CC I used to own had fabulous lights considering they were halogen.
Out in the Victorian countryside, on high beam, our Tesla will dip when a large reflecting signboard is fully lit .
TBH’s car is soon going to be an MG ZS EV.....so all electric here v soon.

Seem to be bright and have a good spread but appear to have poor range. 50%-70% of my driving is twisting country lanes. Not sure I’d get on with them.
Mini is a great looking little car.
A little more range would have made it a better seller.
Nicely executed. I do know, when driving a car with auto light, I normally activate it, but I have to remind myself on cars without it. More like, me calling my friend and going, your cars lights are on, why the hell isn't your work car's light on, x-ray vision or something.
Oh yes, Woohoo, haven't heard someone saying that in ages, I was the only person I knew still did it. With a normal response of, I'm way older then I look.
Can't wait for the Mini Cooper SE to be available for delivery, it's a bit small, but I'm known for small cars, except if you knew me when I just started driving them ships.
Still can't believe that was 5am to 6am. Just shows it brings the senses alive.
I'm not a fan of night driving generally but empty roads......
my MG is also slow to automatically dip the lights, but its just another gimmick on modern cars, why can EV makers produce a cheap basic car with few frills
It's only marginal, still very effective
Part-timer, the cheapest rate was 3:30 😂
My timer got that one so needed to change it at 4am for the next one
