    I use this keyboard in my setup along with the G900 mouse. I really like how the LED's are the middle of the keys. The makes for perfectly even lighting compared to typical cherry switches. As mentioned the keys feel a lot like reds, or perhaps even like the newly hyped Corsair rapidfire keys standard cherry keys have a 2.0 mm actuation point, the romer G switch is at 1.5 mm while the rapidfire is at 1.2 mm.
    As I sit here typing this on my G810 I am trying to think of something bad to say about it and I'm coming up blank. I "upgraded" to the G810 from a first generation K70 RGB (with the unfortunate tramp stamp logo) with red there ARE tradeoffs between the two keyboards. The K70 has a pretty looking, but hard to keep clean brushed aluminum top plate while the G810 has a matte plastic top that may not feel as "premium" but is easier to clean. Cherry reds bottom out with a loud clack of the plastic keycap hitting the base while the Romer G's are dampened significantly. The Logitech lighting is, as I mentioned, better in just about every way (although since the original K70 some of their newer keyboards have taken steps to make the lighting more even and bright.

    Coming from K70 Cherry MX Reds and having owned some older Razer boards, I used the G810 for a good 1 month before selling it used. The switches do feel a little harder to press down though for some reason and it was fatiguing after only few hours of gaming. So I decided to go back to Cherry MX Reds and indeed I really miss the quick and light sensation of the reds.
    The silence is a positive on the Romer-Gs however. Good review overall!

    • @brandonbreuer6589
      @brandonbreuer6589 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Shafiq Faizal (piecemealcranky) I used a K70 RGB with reds for a long time before picking up the G810. The keys on the G810 don't seem to be harder to press to me. Which makes sense considering that both the Reds and the Romer G have 45 grams of pressure required. You might need to hit the gym if typing on the G810 is causing you fatigue.

    • @ShafiqFaizal
      @ShafiqFaizal 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Brandon Breuer That's a very bad metaphor. I'm not dissing the romer-gs. They're good, i wrote a favourable review on the board at Amazon too. But I'm perfectly comfortable with the Pro S right now.

    • @brandonbreuer6589
      @brandonbreuer6589 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry if you didn't like my metaphor, but when two keys have the same actuation force and you say that one is fatiguing and the other isn't there is something wrong with you not the keyboard.

    • @justasking452
      @justasking452 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Brandon Breuer completely agree with you mate. Hes just mad cuz hes bad.

    • @icemanchambers1207
      @icemanchambers1207 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandonbreuer6589 I agree with you. Both Keyboards have 45 grams of pressure required. I don't think G810 have hard switches though.

    Thanks for the review! The Romer-G switches are actually really nice. But I want to stress to the people at logitech - FIX THE STABILIZERS. The space bar, shift key, etc are incredibly rattly with the current cherry stabilizers. Even with the new G413, same problem.
    If they fix that, they'll have me as a customer.

    I've had my G810 since 2016. Still great. Especially with the new app feature: Audio Visualizer. It's so cool
    I'd recommend getting a shortened keyboard. Unless you don't want a lot or any mouse room at all. My only regret. But other than that, there are still better keyboards. Logitech is great still. I still use the G502 mice

    I've been loving your website recently, it's a great resource. I have a suggestion though. Can you add some "budget" categories? Maybe with your favorite mouse thats less than $50. I had this issue, It gets annoying having to press through all the links to see which mice are within my budget.

    I owned a G910 Orion Spark and I really liked it. I eventually sold it but I really liked it for the few months I owned it, I just wanted a clicky keyboard eventually. I'll probably even buy another Romer G based keyboard if the G810 got a tenkeyless version. I just got kinda tired of the gamer look too so even though I liked how the G910 felt, I would want something smaller, and the G410 Atlas Spectrum still follows the quirky gamer theme, plus I've heard of build quality complaints. Right now I use a gateron blue keyboard and also switch between the CM Novatouch.

    For all the g pro owners, do you guys realize that the viewing angle for the RGB key caps is not fully illuminated. Meaning if you look at the right (moving your head left below), there is half right of the key caps are not fully illuminated and vice versa at the left.
    Only looking at the vertical centre, it looks fully illuminated but there is a slight less illumination if you stare at it at the left and right of each individual key caps.
    Also "print screen" and "pause break" at the centre vertical view, not fully illuminated for certain individual letter rather than viewing angle. For instance, letter p and n is not fully illuminated for "print screen" key caps.
    So in conclusion, does anyone has this problem or just my unit ? What about 810 orinon spectrum owners ?
    Or even 610 orinon for white LED backlight

      @jonathansanchez3494 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Key Wait Blackwidow uses MX Blues? I'm pretty sure they used Razer Greens which are basically Khali Blues (not sure of the name of the switch)

      Jonathan Sánchez Now they have a version with C-MX Blues. Also Razer doesn't use kaihl rebrands like they did at the very start.

    • @TermigaborTM
      @TermigaborTM 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You definitely should try each by a yourself. Hard to suggest anything as everyone's hands and grip types are different. EC2-A is very safe shape, but according to your hand size, it may (or may not..) feel a little bit small. G903 has a pronounced high back and feels long for claw grip to me, but again, you should try it. The G303 with its diamond shape is a big risk without trying. Its not for everyone. I used it for a year, and couldn't get consistent with it. It may be perfect for pure claw grip though, but then side buttons can't be used without changing grip. Also it caused me wrist pain, so I eventually transplanted its guts into a G400. :)

    One of the things I value the most in any mechanical keyboard is the ability to easily change the board to my taste. I like to be able to change the keysets if I ever decided to do so and with this keyboard this simply isn't possible to do right now because there's no custom market keysets available for the Romer-G switches.
    No thanks... fullsizes aren't for me and no Cherry MX switches. This thing is honestly overpriced for what it is imo.
    I've recently bought a CoolerMaster Masterkeys Pro S with Cherry MX Browns (RGB aswell) and I can honestly say it is one of the best RGB mechanical keyboards available right now besides the Ducky offerings. Got Cherry MX switches, a standard bottom-row, a nice braided detachable cable and a very well made ilumination.
    Nice review anyway, but I'm mostly interested in your mice overviews / reviews.

    • @brandonkey181
      @brandonkey181 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should check out Razer keyboards then. You can assign any key to anything and has extremely useful software while being intuitive unlike Corsair's software.

    • @brandonbreuer6589
      @brandonbreuer6589 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ricardo Reis To each his own I guess, I owned a K70 RGB for a long time before picking up the G810. I haven't had the desire to change the keycaps on either one. I see a lot of people talking about how they are diehard cherry fans, but since I don't change keycaps as I mentioned I prefer to judge keys on their merits instead of saying "well that ones a cherry switch and that one isn't.".

    • @ShafiqFaizal
      @ShafiqFaizal 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You made the right choice to go with the MasterKeys Pro S (or the MasterKeys line up in general). Standard bottom-row ftw

    • @TechieSunset
      @TechieSunset 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't like the Razer keyboards. Most of them come with these Cherry MX knockoff switches called Kailh and they are wobbly and don't feel as good or consistent overall.
      Plus, Razer's QC when it comes to their board can be a little spotty.
      I own a Deathadder Chroma and I'm very happy with the mouse though. But Razer keyboards and headsets? No thanks.

    • @TechieSunset
      @TechieSunset 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      To each his own, like you said. I can't stand most cheap thin ABS keysets that come stocked on most mechanical keyboards. And with anything that's not Cherry MX (or a clone, like Kailh, Gateron, Greetech, Outemu etc..) I can't change the stock keyset for something better because there's simply no market for keysets.
      I'll respect your opinion, but this board just ain't for me. I know what I'm getting into when I chose Cherry MX over the competition. I still don't trust most of these new brands / switches.

    Could the height of the G810 be a problem to someone who is used to keyboards which have palm rest? I've tried a Reddragon Usas and it made my wrist hurt coming from a CM Storm Devastator that I still use and it's at 2 years old of intense gaming. That is my only concern regarding this keyboard. I could go for G410 but I want a numpad also and G910 is way too huge and expensive.

      Very curious about that myself. It'll probably be hit-or-miss for me as I can be picky at times haha. Got a good price on it though which is why I decided to blind-order this one, which is something I'd otherwise not do when it comes to this stuff. It was literally cheaper new than any Gpro on the used market in my area by a margin of 25 euros, so I couldn't resist.

    I have just purchased this keyboard, and I am beginning to wonder whether it is the real deal or a fake. when I removed the keycaps, although the stem of the switch looked legit, the plastic surrounding it is black and not blue. in every video and image of the keyboard I found, it is blue. and the volume wheel is not exactly cylindrical and rolls freely, like the quick scroll on some Logitech mice. help?

      +Veron Bilali My understanding is that reds (and thus, Speeds/Silvers) are squishier for typing. I really have been looking for Cherry MX Blues (or the Razer Greens) as I type a lot (I am a TH-cam script writer for a big channel.) Browns would probably be ok too. I am a gamer and have been since Pac-Man was first released, but even knowing everything possible about Speeds (and Reds, which I know is not the same thing) I still want to look at Blues (plus my wife and I are addicted to the sound.)
