Me too. I could never get past the Octopus, although it was due more to that wretched ice floor than anything else. (Seriously, the Blue Dino makes the ice levels SO much easier because it's immune to the sliding on the ice. Why couldn't we just stay ON the dino for the boss?)

I don't get how Shigeru Miyamoto said they wanted a dinosaur like Yoshi in the original Super Mario Bros., but the technology just wasn't there and waited for the SNES. Not only did Mario Is Missing on the NES have Luigi riding Yoshi (i.e. a third party stepped in to get it done despite the game being garbage), but THIS game is full of "Yoshis", so Hudson pulled it off too.
Things Miyamoto say are never straight forward. I have noticed every time he says things, he never speaks his complete thoughts. Also, whatever he may say is not reflective of everyone in the company. The programmers they had at the time were simply not technically advanced to grasp a rideable animal with the technology THEY had. The NES was an excuse to hide the fact the engine they were using wouldn't allow it.

My 9 year old plays this everyday 😂 he's good but makes me fight the monsters, I beat the whole game twice already in the last couple weeks and I would play for hours some days I rll behind on my house chores 😂but it was fun and my son was happy lol
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm just purely curious. What is your favorite island in this game? Mine has to be Desert Island. Features 2 unique Desert levels, has a very easy boss and is overall less tedious than Island 2 and just fun to play. Least favorite would be Ice Island, ridiculously hard for being the 4th world in the game with an even more annoying shithead of a boss.
That's a tough question! I'd probably say Desert Island as well and I agree that 4th world is pretty difficult. Although, Cloud Island is interesting too, but very difficult on certain levels.

The strange thing is--those jumping fish, heavily used on water/mountain levels in Adventure Island 1--only appear in one level in Adventure Island 2--in Dinosaur Island.
I got this on temu, it came in one of the 600 in one game things you plug into your TV! My 9 year old is obsessed with it lol he plays it everyday and I also had never even heard of this game. I beat the whole game twice so far
Adventure Island 2, Little Nemo, Zelda 1, Mega Man 3, Maniac Mansion and Panic Restaurant were my obssesions back in the day, i was so lucky to have lived in the 80s and 90s and experienced that era. BTW, pro tip: in the early islands whenever you end a stage just save all your items, so they stack them, you will need all for the last island, and of course the Hudson Bee so you can keep them if you have a game over.
I loved 😍 playing this game! Brings back great memories...I would definitely buy this game if it were on sale somewhere. I miss that kind of nintendo system as well.. it was good times!
Just get an NES emulator download it and get a joystick for a pc and play it on pc if you can't find it. However I am sure you can find it in some stores that sells older stuff.
Lol, I recall playing this game on NES in one sitting because there's no save states. And I still can't figure out how sometimes, you can skip islands. There's once where after an Island or two, the guy immediately went into the center island.
They never explained why the last boss was inside a dinosaur's stomach. Or why you were fighting insects inside the stomach. Oh well, _Joe & Mac_ did the same thing.
1 year later I didn't know either but from what I learned in the manual it says that a witch doctor has kidnapped Tina and you have to save her. Where is the witch doctor? No idea. The insects and bosses are enchanted that is why they are giant compare to the rest. However what the hell is the first boss I have no idea.
i had a great fun playing this back in the 80s i thought this was a great sequel and its fun riding dinosaurs. It was Hudson who did a great idea of adding dinosaurs that you can ride with which was way ahead than Nintendo when they created Yoshi. I wish Adventure Island will get re created again and will adopt his appearance from Adventure Island 2
