Hi Tara, I'm a coffee machine engineer, if I may offer some advice ? Before you place the portafilter into the machine, just gently wipe off the excess coffee grounds from the rim, this will help the handle lock into place and prevent excessive wear on the rubber group seal. Great video, thanks !
Hello Tara. I just bought one from Currys for £149.00 and in the colour I wanted (Black & Chrome) - ordered it on Wednesday, 23 December '20 and it was delivered today, Thursday, 24 December via DPD. I made my first cappuccino using Lidls own brand, Bellarom Gold 100% Arabica ground beans and it tastes fabulous! So far so good and it's a great machine. Hi! Thank you for your tutorial. I actually have a bit strange question. Could you please let me know if your unit has an o-ring on the frother connection joint (main unit side)? I have a problem that milk doesn’t go in the cup, only steam. So I suspect that the o-ring is missing there.

Hi Shaun, the only way they have probably made them is just simply using the hot milk and adding the chocolate powder. There are separate buttons for milk and for hot water/coffee on the right side of the machine (so you don't have to just use the pre-set buttons.) So you would press the button to begin it and press again to stop. Then just mix in your chocolate powder! I hope this helps, and you enjoy your mochas and hot chocolates! 😀

Hmm that's odd! It should start coming out near enough straight away. Have you taken the labels off the water dispenser? There are a few different labels to take off, some are quite hidden!

Great review. I love my Dolce Gusto Genio+ machine, but as you mentioned it can get expensive. I also dislike all the plastic waste I'm creating. Perhaps this is the next move for me.
I loved using mine for 6 weeks until it suddenly stopped working. I’m so disappointed, I spent ages researching which coffee machine to buy and the only place this one was available was eBay as a factory second with a 30 day warranty!! I can’t get my money back but I would like to buy another one, do you know where I can get one from please?
Hi! It certainly is. I've actually warmed to it a lot more too. It's a lot less of a 'faff' once you get used to it. I definitely recommend it, especially if it's on offer again!
Hi Craig, yes they are really easy to clean! I was surprised actually as these types of machine can be a pain to clean. But you can just take off the tanks and all of the spouts etc come off and can be put in the dishwasher. The machine can also go through a clean cycle just as I've shown in the video :)

Also, I wondered if you've tried this with plant-based milk? I'm hoping it will still produce a decent amount of froth on the highest setting. Thanks.
Hi Jyoti, the glass I used is just over 14cm high. We now have some shorter latte glasses that fit in the machine! No we havn't tried any plant based milks unfortunately. I'd hope it would still be nice and frothy though. X

@@dreamgirl-uu4cj yes I'd definitely recommend waiting for the price to go down, or looking elsewhere to see if you can get it cheaper. I've the Illy coffee pods, they are nice. They do quite a few different ones on Amazon too :)

Do you have a tip for emptying the grounds from the porta-filter when you're making more than one cup? Is it ok to just knock out the coffee grounds or should it have a proper wash out? Hi Rosemary, I'm glad you love the machine! Yes we just knock the used grounds out of the holder (hubby usually misses and gets more on the floor though!) and we give it a wash every now and again. 😄

Hi, Yes you can just do hot milk for hot chocolates. There are custom buttons for both the coffee and milk, so they can be done separately and started/stopped when you what them to. And no you don't have to wait until you can empty the used coffee grounds, you can just discard the used ones straight away and reload :) Hope that helps!

Ground coffee 10p a cup. 2 people drinking 2 cups of coffee a day will spend £1460 a year on pods or £146 on pods so really the machine is not more expensive in any way as even if it only lasted a year you would save £1314. The cost of the machine at £150 which is £120 more than the pod machine means you still save £1194 then take off the cost of the milk and its still worth it

service cost 555, yes, $555.00....this unit has never made great coffee and now their service people talked me through an issue I was having which resulted in the screw in the descaling mode to become stripped.....into the garbage it goes, I am not spending 555...that will buy me many other brand new machines that make GREAT coffee.....never buying Breville product again!

Those grinds look quite course is that packet for espresso machine..? The finer the grinds the more intense the flavour

Hi, you have to clean it before the first use, not every time its used. Obviously its a good idea to clean it every once in a while though.
