If there was ever a video (or a guy) who is much more about telling us how much HE KNOWS, rather than explaining a simple idea and burying that little tidbit of how-to under a mountain of unnecessary detail, (expect as needed for ego), it is this video that apparently has gone on too long without up or down and comment. Now it has a comment which may also serve insight as to why, to date, 2,481 views, received 9 ups and my 1 down, and I, who was downloading it saw the first 2 minutes and cancelled it. My standard for an up is a charitable simply because he made the effort type of reward, but since this was so much blatant overkill about a rather simple subject, it deserved a down.

Blame the writers, not the presenter. It's a failing of the short, episodic format. He has to go over each and every control so that you're not left searching for the video on why the "B" button isn't bringing the controls over to area B. Many of the controls are very similar between inputs, auxes, matrices, etc., so a lot ends up repeated. The extra example details also help to clue in less experienced techs who are more used to routing all this with physical cables through racks of equipment. Otherwise, the actual application just gets lost in a flurry of controls. Personally, I don't mind it much. I've always struggled a bit with absorbing foundational knowledge the first time and then "just knowing" how it applies to every possible future situation. I bit of repetition is like properly curing a foundation.
I think it would have been good to get into a bit more detail on the Group being a combined signal that can be routed to another mix. Maybe that'll be in the VCA video. He total blew past what Mix Minus even is. I suppose it's advanced enough that if you know you need it, you'll know how to use it.
