i have been playing in bands for 40 plus years and still know the words to at least 4-45min sets of songs. wish that thing was around in my day We used to have to play the record, lift the needle, repeat. cassette tapes made getting lyrics much easier. today you guys have it made!
My drummer made a DIY floor prompter. Pretty great. But for the lyrics, I suggest bold and colour some key words. We usually know the sentences but get lost on the order right, so a couple of keys to get going.
In my experience i got a second hand ipad 1, and installed simplenote, great free app for both android and ios. I'm using a typical songbook stand to hold it, however I'm thinking about buying a microphone stand just to have it closer and to prevent drunk people accidentally throwing it on the ground.
Hello , you can use large velcro for your tablet . I stick the loop part on my tablet and the hook part on music stand . When people accidentally hit the stand , tablet never falls.
Tried some of these apps. Nothing but issues. Went back to the tried & true "no issues, easy to read " NOTEBook. The only thing I liked was "it looked better onstage" apart from that "nothing".
Our vocalist and keyboard player use OnSong. It's very similar but you can swipe forwards or backwards as well as using the Bluetooth pedal. Great video!
I already have a physical notebook with all of my song lyrics to sing to. I just bought a Galaxy TabA. Do you know if there is an app or any way I can transfer lyrics on paper to put into my Tablet?
That’s what I’m trying to find out too! I guess you can take photos of the pages and rename the files as the song titles or arrange them in folders in order of your set list?
I love this app but such a shame it doesnt have a search button to search for a particular song.. when you have 150 + songs it can get really annoying to search for a particular song so trying to find another app but its very hard to find something that competes with this on android ...
I tried Lyric Pad 3 for a week. Not very intuitive. I feel like it would not do well while performing. Now trying Song Book Pro because it's more intuitive and allows you to have 12 songs before buying it. The PC interface is a little clunky. Lyric Pad 3 doesn't have a PC interface. Still looking, but I think Song Book Pro will a least give me a boost. The cost of these apps are pretty cheap, but I don't want to spend a lot of time investing in something that doesn't work.
I agree with you Lyric Pad. Its stopped the lyric sync feature a long time ago. You have to download load search codes that never work. Let me know how Song Book Pro works out for you.
@@gtrblues Three is Song Book and Song Book Pro. Song Book Pro allows you to use it free for up to 12 songs. $6 after that. Song Book cost $8 up front but sounds like you have to add a Windows or Mac app if you want to edit songs. I bought Song Book, but think I will just stick with Song Book Pro.
Hello thanks for the video. I have the same set up. Can you tell me what setting on lyric pad you are using to make it move to the next song? I have tried everything in "options" and "remote controllers" with no luck. Thanks in advance
After a month or so of using Lyric Pad I can honestly say, if I was you I would try another app. I have had nothing but problems with the search part of the app. It started off great, and now its always having issues. I have to manually put them in now. As far a gigs, I always say, get as much as your budget will allow. If you like photos and videos. You will need them. The lyrics will not be a big storage issue at all.
I get it, support local music. I am the local music. I don't get a chance to get out to see other bands because I am working constantly on music. My financing goes into the music. I get out a little to support our local scene, but I take my lady, so I am spending $100 to support my local music scene when I do. That just happens to equate to my guitar strings and drums stick budget for the month. We have this one couple that always comes to see the band. Knowing what it costs them, I am sensitive to it. If I calculate all my expenses and include my time, which does have value, the highest value to be honest, I am paying to perform. I am paying to entertain. I would be far better off to tell the clubs, "You rent all the gear, pay to have it set up, I will just come and perform for free.". I would be well further ahead. They couldn't afford it. I am talking 4 quality guitars with new strings, tuned and ready to go. Two bass guitars same thing. Two tube guitar amps with decent pedalboards. One decent bass amp. 5 pairs of drum sticks. Quality drum kit with new heads and fantastic cymbals. 4 microphones, stands, cabling. Full PA, monitors. Just the basic stuff we rent to the clubs regularly. I call myself a gear renter. I am seriously selling a haul and set up gear service. I don't even get paid well enough for that, forget getting paid for the performance.
No, not to work while bringing up lyrics. However there is a lyric feature that requires you to be online if you want to import lyrics into the software. I found that lyric search feature more problems than they are worth. I simple copy and paste the lyrics in. The search feature has to have all kind key enter crap, that does not last. In fact that being such a head ache would prevent me from buying it again. But it does its job as fare as stage lyrics go. I just find the lyrics online copy them and past them and save it. I set up the set list before a show. And that`s it. Wish would have had something like this 30 years ago.
I have a large collection of lyrics with the chords that are in my pad in MS Word. Can Lyric Pad use Word or do the lyrics need to be in a special format?
I have to type in the lyrics most of the time, or search for them copy and paste from the internet.. It requires a code that never seems to work anymore in order to import the lyrics from its built in search. I have had no luck with word. I would strongly consider a app that doesn't require you to have a Google search code that's limited to a few searches and just stops like this one does. It's a good app, but not a great one.
Thats my biggest problem with that software. I usually find the lyrics and copy and paste them. I found it easier. You have to download codes in order to search from within the amp and import them. The codes always stop working. So I just paste them in. I need to look at that again now, to see if they have fixed those issues.
I say if at all possible, just memorize the lyrics. Use your eyes to make eye contact with your fans. Reading lyrics while performing is amateur hour in my opinion...

Which Simplenote app did you use? There are dozens of them named simplenote. Can't find the one you'd use for lyrics.
Emre Cenkers yeah, i have a leather cover with velcro that goes through the holes in the note stand
Terry Wysocki Simplenote od: Automattic itunes.apple.com/hr/app/simplenote/id289429962?l=hr&mt=8 this one bro.

What is the app that you are using to keep your lyrics in proper way???
He's not reading the comments
Super helpful. Thanks. Gettin' tired of spouting gibberish when the words leave me.....
Will give it a another shot if someone out there is using an "issue free...... FREE App" they like for live gigs.
Our vocalist and keyboard player use OnSong. It's very similar but you can swipe forwards or backwards as well as using the Bluetooth pedal.
Great video!
thanks for the info
On song is just for IOS right?
David R.W. not sure about that.
Yep, just iOS, not Android.
That sounds like a nice app.
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah. Even iPads are considered amateur. But a teleprompter on the floor. Like the pros use. Now. That a little different
Good video thanks.
