One of the best parts of having a dog is how it accidentally makes you get out in nature a little more! It really makes a difference

The mice are just so adorable! I bet that Wren and Lark are so happy to be living in the big enclosure now! Glad that the mice get along so well. ❤ And so happy to see little old man Wispa still getting around.
Also, I'm having a conversation with a person who says that rats can live to be 6-8 years old when they have good living conditions and is basically implying that rats that live the average lifespan of 2-3 years aren't being taken care of properly. They act like I don't know what I'm talking about when I tried to tell them that even rats that have the best care will still usually live around 2-3 years and that going over 3 is pretty rare. I'm not going crazy, right? 😂 Someone reassure me, please? 😅 I mean, the oldest living rat that was recorded was 7 years and 4 months, but that is extremely rare based on what I have read.

You’re not wrong! People like that are delusional and getting themselves confused. 3 is great but anything above that is the equivalent of a human living 200/300 years it just doesn’t happen. Rats can live a very long time if you leave them to it but they’ll have no quality of life and they’ll be skin and bones at 4 years old. The world record of 7 was removed for a while because they had no evidence to back it up!

    • @rowdyrats7035

@@Emiology Oh, thank you for clearing that up. I just did a quick Google search about the oldest rat and that popped up. I didn't know how true that was lol. Then read some articles, in only one article it mentioned that some rats live 6-7 years, but now I think that it might have been based on the "oldest living rat's" age. But yeah, that conversation reminded me of a lot of people on internet who say that their hamster lived to be like 7 when that's impossible. That person said that they have many friends with rats that live to be over 6, I thought, damn, where can I get these rats. 😂 Would love to have rats with such long lifespan.

@@rowdyrats7035 I know, Right? thanks Emiology for answering, this helped me too. I'd LOVE for Rats to have such a long Lifespan. I wish it was the same for Mice, too. Mice were my first Rodent pet. apparently, the rat who won a world record for the longest living Rat was named Rodney. not sure if its true, there's not much evidence, like Emiology said.

those arcadia grow lights are fantastic, I use them for my tropical plant collection. Some plants don't like the intensity of the 22 or 34W lights, such as gardenia and calathea, which seem to wither and burn SO quick under them, but philodendrons, syngonium and pothos/scindapsis thrive!

The mouse intro was so good to see. The final enclosure set up looks beautiful. I always use shavings for my girls and within hours they have dug holes and made tunnels.. it's so beautiful to see the girls digging and working hard at making their home perfect. My oldest girl is nearly 1 and a half and slowing down but she does well to keep up with her 4 little sisters.

💚 It makes me sad that you have to explain yourself about donation money. When people raise money for something, they still have the right to spend their own money on whatever they want to... and for those of us who get involved with things, I don't understand why people expect us to spend every cent of our own money towards donating to a special interest.
You are so amazing that you even have the patience to kindly explain all of this.

I have a question. I'm thinking about getting rats and I was going to get MidWest Deluxe Ferret Nation Cage. But I go back and forth from my dad's for a week to my mom's for a week. They would be staying at my mom's while I'm not there but I do go on Wednesdays, They would be fed and taken care of while I'm gone. they would be staying at my mom's for a week because of the size of the cage because it would be difficult to take it back and forth. Would this be okay for them? I've been wanting them for a while I just don't know if the situation I'm in would work out for them because I only want the best for them if I do get them.

Unfortunately sometimes some rats / mice just aren’t compatible and won’t live together as annoying as that is. If you’ve tried really slow introductions multiple times and made sure they’re not fighting over resources and have multiple of everything you may have to house them separately if some of them are clashing! I know it’s not ideal but it does happen and it sounds like you’ve tried multiple times

i have a question, form where I live it’s hard to find mice bedding that isn’t over priced, I found aspen bedding but it says it’s for snakes, it is also dust free, is it okay if I use it for mice? 💗

In 2 days i’m going on a 14 hour car ride, and I have to take me 2 girls with me. Do you have any tips how to travel with rats, and calm down a stressed rat in the car?

    • @Emiology
      @Emiology  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

They’ll be fine! Rats travel really well. A cat carrier may be better for them to have more space and you can attach a water bottle onto the front door easier. Just give them plenty of food and cucumber and they’ll probably just sleep the whole time!

@@Emiology Thank you so much! I only have soft cat carrier and they can chew through them, but i have a big travel cage that is about the size of a cat carrier.

this is completely unrelated and i feel really rude to ask this on something completely unrelated and i understand if you dont reply^^ but i resently planted some rocket in some rat safe soil and its fully grown, would it be safe to put in my rats cage?

They were rescued from many places. I’m not sure on all of their individual stories but many of them are very elderly and almost all of them were someone’s ‘pet’ that they had kept in their garden / house or even in a bunker. They were either handed in when the owners realised it wasn’t good for them or taken by the RSPCA

Weird question, but do you think it's a weird idea to taxidermy a rat? I still want to taxidermy my Trilby... he's just too beautiful, hahahah. Is rat taxi even a thing?

    My riddle brain got activated:
A rodent? As in A rodent or rodent species? Or did I get the word completly wrong?
And for amphibiens my guess would be white tree frog, because of the plants and "adoptability".
(If speculations are not ok, I will delete this post.)
