Hello! So today I had an interview and earlier during the day I saw some of your videos including this one... I got the interview thanks to knowing someone who works there... the position I was applying for was not available but would be in a couple of months but they were in need of someone for another position. ( I knew this before had) anyway had the interview and all, and was told they would contact me at the ende of the month. Left the location and felt the interview went ok but not amazing. I didn’t feel like I left that amazing wow factor in it. By the way the position I was looking for is as a server at a fine dining restaurant. It’s the most exclusive restaurant in my area. The open position was being a busser. About 30 minutes later I was back at the location again and ask to speak to the interviewing manager again. When she got there I said “hi Michelle (fake name) you will have to excuse me for coming back, but I didn’t quite felt satisfied with my performance in that interview. And I want you to know that I’m very interested in working here, i know you have amazing employees and a great team working here but I also do know I will be of great contribution to this team and company. She answered great thing you came back, I was actually really considering you and telling the owner about our interaction and asking his opinion. Matter of fact follow me me let’s talk to him. Which we did, basically did another Inter with them both got hired and will be starting next week. So thank you for your advice, I might have applied it a little different but it got me from a maybe and having to wait 3 weeks for an answer to a definite yes and start now.
I'm interviewing today, and I came here for some last minutes tips, an he made me remember when I was 23, I interviewed for my corporate job; I was so desperate to get into corporate America that I told the hiring manager, “hire me” lol. I laugh now because he did. He told me later that everyone was more qualified than me, but because I said “hire me,” he did, and he took a chance on me, an I didn't disappoint. Everyone has a blessed day, and I hope we get the jobs we seek.
I came back to this video just to highly recommend this. Here's my experience with this: At the end of my interview, I expressed that I wanted the job and the opportunity to be apart of the company - which was 100% honest. A few days later, they called me to say that that they were concerned with my ability to do the job right out the gates, but they loved my enthusiasm and wanted to give me the chance to prove myself. So instead of starting me out in the position I applied for, they offered to set me up in the position below it but with accelerated training - this to give me a safety net while I learn the ins and outs of the company and the industry. I wholeheartedly believe by telling them, in no uncertain terms, that I was excited and wanted the job, that gave me this opportunity - which I have taken, and plan to run with.
We were interviewing a candidate the other week who said almost this exactly. He is less qualified and not “as ideal” a fit as we hoped, but we’re going to offer him the position!

Anti-climatic follow-up: our recruiter dropped the ball and the candidate actually accepted a position elsewhere! Bummer, but another example why it’s good to have good people!
This worked for me twice in my career. In both cases i had no real experience beside decent qualification. The "problem" if i may say, is that you just have to be genuine about it. A week ago I landed my dream job using this tip! ... as well as a bunch of other lessons I've learnt on this channel but this one was the silver bullet. I've since found out that other candidates were much more qualified than I was but they could see how passionate and hungry I was for the job. I can't thank you enough Bill.
I’m 42 years old and I got my bachelors in teaching December 2020, finally. I have a job interview tomorrow morning with the school district and it’s for a social studies position. I’ve had 3 interviews so far and zero call backs. Somehow this channel ended up in my feed and it’s very instructional. Keep it up and wish me luck 😁
Just left my interview for Publix Warehouse. Your videos helped me prepare for the interview so much. Every time he asked me a question my answers were quick, on topic and straight to the point. I could tell from his facial expressions he knew I wanted the job and I was taking the interview very serious.
I highly recommend the closing lines in the interview because it works. I followed the closing format to express that I wanted the job, and I got the job offer a few days later.
I used this method. I said at the end of interview I would really like this job and with my manufacturing experience and the training the company will provide. I should be able to perform the skills without a problem. They gave me a tour. Showed me what I be learning. Asked what I do on my own time. Ask them back that question. It goes a long way. They really seemed to bring up education and advancement a lotFollowed up with a thank you letter. Was offered the job day after interview when they said they would get back to me in a week.
I can’t tell you how grateful I am for this video! I followed this advice last week during an internal job interview. The recruiter told me afterwards that this was the reason I was accepted. 🎉👍🎉 THANK YOU!! ...the new strategic buyer. 😉
Also I was just asked this question. Funny as I was walking the dog I was thinking, no one really asks that question anymore (why should hire you). This hiring manager at the end, really asked me "knowing what you know, why should I hire you?" I flat out said (in relation to your other vids too) "first of all I meet all your qualifications" (and I listed the top 5). I also said (in relation to this video) it isn't that I want any old job -- it is that this particular job jazzes me up and I again retiterated the requirements. She flat out said well ok let me get you on the calendar for the second interview. #boss #companiesexpert
I can't thank you enough for this tip. I got my dream job using this tip, I had been trying for a position with this Company for the last 10 years. I'm sure this is not the only reason I got the job but its a great way to end the interview and I completely endorse this valuable tip. I am going to be sure to use it for all my future interviews. Thank you again. :)
I wanted to let you know I watched your video before my job interview the other day and I got the job offer this morning. I really wanted this job and so thankful for your tips. I really believe this made an impact on the recruiter. After I say why I would be good for the job and said I really want this job she said wow. Thank you so much.
I believe that happened to my son when he had an interview in very big company and did not feel like they gonna offer it to him because couple guys had more experience and he was just graduated from the University here .but he had an internship with them and he was so wanted to work there and he actually had two big money offers already from Chicago and Colorado but still wanted to try it at his dream job company . Long story short ..he got it and he loves what he does and company loves him there . Great video !!!👍👍👍
I'm just about to do an interview for a job that I really really want. This video couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely try this out! Have been pretty much binge watching your other videos and taking notes down to better prepare myself. Can't thank you enough for putting this information out there. Wish me luck!
This is a great idea, never thought about the impact it would have on the interviewer when this statement comes at them from the interviewee. I have an interview with the hiring manager this coming Monday. I will use this advice along with the other tips in your other videos and I will let you know what happens.
I saw a technique where the interviewer just straight up ask, "Can I have this job?" and got it. I prefer your method because it puts the pressure off whoever is/are interviewing you because it does not pressurize the interviewer to make on the spot decisions because I do not know what other considerations they need to make behind the scene.
I share your experience. Long, long ago I wanted a particular job, but did not expect to get it. Somehow, I wasn’t nervous, I had some pleasant interviews. To the man who would become my boss, I said “I like it here, I would like to start right away”, kind of off-hand. One never knows the importance of such a remark that came up spontaneously, but I saw that he liked it, like some old friend’s remark, and I got the job.
They asked me why did you apply to this job, while i really didnt apply but they found my cv online. So I answered by saying: I really didn't apply to this role but i accepted your invitation to this interview for this role because i can see myself working on this company and this role fits me well.
I did this on my first job interview back in 2011 after I finished college. It was during the last stage of interviews (for a brand managment job at a big local wholesale company that started developing its own brands) when there was only me and one older guy left (he had huge experience in the industry). I didn't know the importance of being passionate to compensate inexperience, I did it because I really wanted to work there. The older guy got the job of course but the CEO wanted to somehow employ me so he told me I'm the first when a similar job is available. A week later his HR employee calls and offers me a job in their "daughter"-company (marketing agency, media planning and buying). I accepted because I was told it's a station to get to the job I wanted. But they payed me miserably for a whole year so I quitted that job and accepted a job offer from their competitor. Great salary for then-26 year old guy. The first company offered me jobs two times in the coming years but I was very disappointed how they were paying a worker they actually liked.
Ok, so I have been working for 16 years in consulting, tech, developer, and management. This video is great because as I have interviewed many people in my life for roles... No one has ever said this and if they did it would put a huge impact into my decision because even if they are not as qualified as others in this role.... They want to come in and get the job done and go the extra mile and contribute to the team and the company. These videos are great!
Least impressive job interview I've had. It was the second interview. I was at a hotel. I turned up, expecting to be invited to a suite or meeting room. I also expected to be met by someone from the firm. But no. I languished in the lobby for about 30 minutes before the hotel security guy asked if was X to meet Y. I was then taken to the corner of the lobby they were in. They then led me around the lobby seeking a place we could talk. Eventually we found a relatively quiet spot, but still not private, other people were near by, and the job interview was conducted. I got the job, but was so under-impressed that I lost interest in really being there and left a few months later.
This is such a great video. You really pulled back the curtain on how to better communicate when you've encountered one of those amazing opportunities.
hi Bill, just had my 1st job-interview for a new position. Used your channel and advice in my prep. The interview went great. Felt a lot more confident, because I knew what I could expect. Was invited for a follow-up interview this Thursday. Fingers crossed! Thanks for your help!
I have an interview next week with a major airline. They love to see passion and enthusiasm in this role--so there will be a lot of competition on who really wants the job!! I'm still going to use your technique however! Thank you!
The interviewer is lame. When people apply it's a two way street, we apply to explore to see if it is mutually a good fir -or not-. After having had the exchange, establishing context, assessing the opportunity in person to person, then one can express a want or not. Many after an interview could tell the interviewer the opposite.
Superbly put Bill.... Straight up to the point... Yes indeed being passionate about any work that one does itself reflects confidence in the person it is for a trained eye to spot these qualities and make a sound judgement....
I haven’t been having any success during my interviews. I’m really hoping that by implementing these tips I’m able to do well in my next interview on Friday. Fingers crossed!
It's funny to hear this. At my current job I did this, it was true. I wanted the job, I was exited about it. I said it honestly. Apply to companies and jobs that you like. On the interview, listen to your instint.
I’m taking this advice, and I’ve got a 4th interview tomorrow for a company that I really do want to work for. They’re a software company that really provides a lot of value to their users, big and small businesses, and I want to be a part of that. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Part of my goal as your subscriber is take notes on about a dozen of your videos. Spending several months planning how to get a higher paid sales job, while working in sales . Hopefully get to my goal and it will be partially thanks to the companies expert
I think at the end of the interview when the interviewer says "We're in the very early stages of interviewing for this position and we'll let you know," it means "go away, we don't want you."
I've always gotten a role based on my passion, and, I let the people on the other side of the table know it. Lately, I've been thinking of going back to a former role even when I did not leave on the best of terms... yet, I know my integrity and verve for what I do is well-known, and if I was going for it, I will get it. Great advice.
Thank you for all the absolute great content, good sir. This information is invaluable. I've got an interview in a few days and I've been brushing up on all your videos and suggestions, thank you they're really giving me great confidence in being prepared.
Thank you for an inspiring series of videos. I like the idea of telling a potential employer that you are passionate about it and thatyou really want the job. However, only do that if it’s true. I have met with so many candidates who oversell themselves and the end result is always dissatisfying for everyone involved. If you tell them that you are passionate, expect a follow-up question: Why are you passionate? Then you better have a good answer! :-)
Thank you for your advice. I just said the “I want this job comment” to the recruiter I just interviewed with. It was hard putting myself out there because I didn’t want to sound desperate. I actually felt empowered after saying it. I also have nothing to lose by sharing my passion about the project I will be working on and the team I will be working with. Please send me positive vibes and wish me luck. I’ll let you all know how it goes. 🤞 FYI: Update in comment section of this thread!
Got an email response thanking me for my interest… However, the position was filled and no longer available. The employer mentioned they will continue to look for work that would be a match for me. In my interview, we discussed an opportunity that would be opening up in the next few months closer to where I live. Not sure if this was sincere or just fluff. We will see!!!
Very helpful! I’m trying to get a job with Lockheed Martin. My issue is I absolutely love Lockheed Martin’s Aircraft the SR-71,L1011 etc. I honestly believe they make the best aircraft. I want to show interest in working for the company without sounding fan-boyish.
The SR-71 is pretty cool. In addition to working on answering recruiter questions, make sure you are working the hidden job market to get to Lockheed Martin. Check out my playlist here to get started: th-cam.com/play/PLO4kDC0EWkeDaZyMJgm9W43J2Oy0VefRV.html
I love this approach to the question. I’ll definitely use this information . I want this job, and wanting to be apart of your company, has my passion and drive to be successful, once you hire me. ( I just made that up) 🥰
@@RrrrrrrXXX Seemed to. I think that was one of the times I got the job. I was really struggling to catch my breath I was so nervous, so I tried to have a little laugh about it.
In the past, I've asked for the job by saying "I'm asking for the opportunity." Would you agree with that wording? I did it a couple of months ago for an internal position. But there were a couple of questions they asked during the interview that I couldn't answer very well - technical questions. When I closed by saying I'm asking for the opportunity, they acknowledged it - I think the hiring manager responded with "ok". Wound up not getting the job. But she indicated in the rejection email that they hoped to have additional opportunities in 2021 and that I should consider them. I'm hoping that last part was genuine and not her just letting me down easy.
One candidate told me “I am so passionate about this job I am willing to do it for free”. We chuckled about it during the interview. He got the job. (Sounds like a risky move that may affect your future salary. Quite the opposite. It set him apart from everyone else and made him more valuable. Best hire I ever made.)
Sorry for the harsh white...

Many thanks to your videos, I followed the tips and I got my dream job!
Way to go, Jason! That's wonderful news!!!
Another excellent tip. The quick , insider pro tips are invaluable
very strong point, its hard to dismiss such a candidate ... thank you for the advise, sir...
It's funny to hear this. At my current job I did this, it was true. I wanted the job, I was exited about it. I said it honestly. Apply to companies and jobs that you like. On the interview, listen to your instint.
Wow be direct I want this job as I’m suited for it and passionate
really great .it will look very convincing to interviewer
I must say your advise is quite practical
best advise I've heard yet !!! thank you so much
Loving your videos, thank you for teaching us so wonderfully!
That's very sweet of you to say, Stephanie - my pleasure!
This is great! Thanks! How about a video on doing interviews in public or at hotels or restaurants? How to handle yourself and what to expect?
I’m taking this advice, and I’ve got a 4th interview tomorrow for a company that I really do want to work for. They’re a software company that really provides a lot of value to their users, big and small businesses, and I want to be a part of that. I’ll let you know how it goes!
How did it go? If u don't mind me asking.
@@Layarion lets hope he got the job & too busy to see comments.
What happened? :D
Part of my goal as your subscriber is take notes on about a dozen of your videos. Spending several months planning how to get a higher paid sales job, while working in sales . Hopefully get to my goal and it will be partially thanks to the companies expert
Thank you very much for sharing this
This is a great answer. When can you tell the interviewer this, at the beginning of the interview or at closing?
I got the job
Thank You
Congrats, Orenji! That's wonderful!
Thanks for sharing one of your life stories. 👍
Good question and an awesome answer. I am your fan.
Awesome! Thanks, Prasad!
I think at the end of the interview when the interviewer says "We're in the very early stages of interviewing for this position and we'll let you know," it means "go away, we don't want you."
@limelight81 Yes, there is that possibility, though probably slim.
True.
You are such a treasure! You are a real help. Kind regards from Switzerland and big 🙏 thank you.
Very good advice thank you!
Awesome concept will use this!
Thank you for sharing your point of wiev on this topic. Really puts the situation in a different perspective, at least for me.
Your videos are great. I apply for a position i found your videos they helping me a lot i can't stop watching them :)
I interview in 2 weeks. I’m using this technique.
This was very helpful ! I’m going to try something similar if I get another job interview.
I just used this on my interview let’s see if it works! 🤞🏽
I have watched a few of your videos, thank you and great job!
So simple yet so profound! Thank you!!!
Companies Expert, I think that you are awesome! Greetings from Croatia.
Thank you, Sir,
For Sharing the interview tips.
Thanks a lot, Sir! You inspire me much more than particular inspirational content on youtube! :)
FYI: Update in comment section of this thread!
@@dawls07 Good luck pal
@@dawls07 good luck for you bro! Thanks for sharing 😊
( I just made that up) 🥰
Your every video is goldmine thank you so much, much love from India! ❤️
And one more thing Bill, you are awesome! 💗
Thanks, Prathamesh! So are you!!!
Super good perspective, thank YOU!
Yeah, this really was and is helpful! Thank you! You're awesome!)
This got me an apprentice ❤️ thanks
Awesome, LS! I'm glad it's working out for you
@@TheCompaniesExpert love from London 👊🏼
Thank you so much. This was very helpful. Would it be okay to say this to a recruiter? or should I save it until the second round if there is one?
I’ve used this to try to play off signs of anxiety. “I’m sorry, I’m a bit nervous, I really want this job.”
did it work?
@@RrrrrrrXXX Seemed to. I think that was one of the times I got the job. I was really struggling to catch my breath I was so nervous, so I tried to have a little laugh about it.
@@ellaphx brother congrats!
Did it work?
Love your videos. All the way from South Africa.🇿🇦
Thanks, Mago - you're awesome!
Great approach and definitely the best answer
Thanks, Dean!
Very important I'm listening okay I want this job I'm very suited to what your looking and I'm passionate about doing this type of work.
How do you respond to a question about “ if we were to ask your supervisor about you, what would their response be”?
You’re awesome! Thanks for all your wonderful advice. I’m so glad I discovered this channel.
Hello man Thank you for your good advices. Which do states have oil & gas companies to get job?
*You're* awesome! And many thanks for sharing your stories and tricks, that's really helpful. Subscribed.
I must click a like before I go to your next video. It's addictive!
Great advice thank you!
Any advice to handle a job interview with 4 simultaneous recruiters / managers?
One candidate told me “I am so passionate about this job I am willing to do it for free”. We chuckled about it during the interview.
He got the job.
(Sounds like a risky move that may affect your future salary. Quite the opposite. It set him apart from everyone else and made him more valuable. Best hire I ever made.)
@@goji059 quite the opposite. He has excellent leadership and decision making skills.
