    Hey y'all. Just wondering, do y'all pull any gooseneck loads? If you do (I have a 14 Ram 3500 dually with a Curt 5th wheel), how do you move it by yourself (say Cheryl does it by herself-I solo drive so am trying to find out how to do it without hurting me) to get it out of the way to use the gooseneck ball?

    • @TransportBandits

    Hello! How do you split the 14 hours and how exactly does it get logged on the eld? Trying to do the same thing and not sure what the correct way to do it is.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Melissa, We don't run an ELD. So, I can't give you advice on that. But I'll tell you how we do it:
      14 hour shift.
      Of that 14 you have 11 hours of "driving time"
      Show at least a 15 min. P.T.I when you start in the morning.
      Show a 30 min. Break sometime before you've driven 8 hours.
      That's all you are required to show if you are in a motorhome or driving a pickup.
      ( if you have a semi , you must show a 15 min post trip inspection)
      Hope that helps
      If you stop at a rest area and make it less than 7 min... you don't have to show you stopped at all.
      When fueling, getting permits, delivering, etc... log as
      On -duty not driving.

She would do a driveaway RV and he would pull a 5th wheel camper and they would deliver very close to each other and drive back to Indiana together.........that's one of the best money maker plans and it works great for couples.

    Why 350 4 wheels and not 6 wheels? Can the 5th wheel hook up and not hit tail gate or tool box?

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 350.. because we fill it is the best for the job. It's just made for hauling, not touch strain on the truck.
      4 over 6: many reasons. Some are: maintenance cost, fuel economy, and the dually didn't do well in bad weather conditions.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, dually is cumbersome to manuever around...like drive through a and carwashes.
      The fifth wheels do not hit tool box or tailgate...have to let the tailgate down though when hooking up. We have a long bed truck.

  • @danielenfinger3927

    Great Video ! Question for you on the sleeper berth. I know your doing some team driving but I keep hearing about the DOT mandating that same sleeper berth even for a single driver ! Have the two of you heard of that ? Great job on the videos and stay safe out there.
    Daniel.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. That's fake news!
      The certified sleeper birth ( only a Woodhouse) is only for when the wheels are rolling.
      Never log sleeper birth if you are a single driver. Just "off duty".
      You can only log sleeper birth if you have a Certified sleeper and the truck is in motion. ( By another driver) and one is taking his mandatory 10 hours off.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, we are team Driving now...but not in our Ford ...we are in our Ram which has a bed built in the back, but, not a certified SB.
      So, me and Jeff switch off driving thoughout the 14 hour shift but then have to stop for the required 10 and log "Off Duty".

      Is the Ford srwd better than your Ram drwd for pulling RVs? Thanks.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is better for us, in our situation. The Ram was an older model got worse fuel milage. The Ford is newer and more comfortable. But, either truck is great. Everyone has different preferences and situations. So, I would not say one is better than the other.

    Just found you guys. I just got approved to haul for Horizon. I am fixing to set up my rig and was going to get Dan as well. Do you care to explain why you went with a electric pump and gravity fed. Most guys tell me to do just gravity fed. But I want what makes my job easier. I’m not rich but I too look at it as an investment. I had rather pay more now than pay more down the road. Thanks for the great video maybe I will see you guys down the road some day.

    • @TransportBandits
      @TransportBandits 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeff thought electrical toggle would make everything easier. But, when we had to get Doc ( the Ram) fixed up, we decided to go just gravity fed. It is working just fine. We recommend the gravity feed. Unless, you just want the small advantage of not getting out of your truck to flip the switch. Hope this helps.

    Not sure I would ‘advertise’ that you know nothing about RV transport if you’re trying to get into the RV transport business. Doesn’t instill confidence in a customer that has spent upwards of $200k in an RV to hire out someone that doesn’t know what they are going with my investment. Good luck in your new business but I’m not hiring you.
