One thing that I noticed from this as well was the foreshadowing with stark, you notice how his Father emphasized on how his older brother didn't have a speck of dirt or blood on his cape after battling monsters, yet his younger "failure" brother managed to splash dirt on his cape by accident, to which his elder brother even seemed shocked and surprised that his cape had become dirted (before his brother knelt down in the mud) which to me is foreshadowing just how strong Stark will become in the future in a subtle way. Clever writing.
Precisely. When he sees the sword he immediately thinks of his brother! Then when he talks fondly about his brother he immediately thinks back on the sword!
Himmel promised to defeat the demon king & bring peace to the world. Frieren said that he “lived up to those words even without that sword ” That being said, it wasn’t a legendary sword that made Himmel the hero. But it was his actions that made his sword legendary.💚
What is not to understand about Frierens seduction techniques. Fern and Stark grown up for a big part without same age peers, they are pretty pure teenagers only finding out about "love" and Himmel was so into Frieren - it sure nocks him out cold. It just is the circumstances, the actually technique, well doesn't achieve much at an actual grown up with no crush.
@@GOTGamesI feel like if someone like Flamme were to do that technique it would be much more seductive. But seeing as Frieren is like that... well it just comes off as a cute child 😂
You don´t need some special talent. You don´t need a fancy tool to achieve what you set out to do. The whole point of the hero's sword story is to teach us, that even if things don´t turn out in our favor, if the circumstances are less than ideal, we can still reach our goal. Himmel did and accomplish what he said he would. He wrote his own story. It´s beautiful.

RE: Frieren's kiss blowing: Throughout the story, it slowly builds on the fact that Himmel was in love with Frieren, and Frieren had no idea... but that she also was falling in love with Himmel. Recall she looks at the ring in her suitcase; this becomes important in the next few episodes. Anyway, her kiss blew Himmel away because he was already in love with her, but was too much of a gentleman to pressure Frieren by confessing when her heart wasn't ready; he wasn't going to make things awkward between them until Frieren cam to the realization on her own. During this journey, Frieren has already started to realize just how precious Himmel was to her (recall all the things hse does, while strange and innocuous to us and her companions, are all call-outs to things Himmel has said or things she knew about him). Regarding Himmel's romance, he had long given up on Frieren, but also stayed committed to his unrequited feelings for her. In episode one, you could tell his home was that of a bachelor, and when he died, he had no family to speak of, no wife, children or grandkids. Another fun fact: Frieren's suitcase is an allegory for her being a chronic tourist in life. Other's lives are so short compared to hers, that even a few months is like a brief destination vacation.
One of the themes Freiren seems to hinge on is how the passage of time erases great deeds, and while something may seem big and important /now/, it may not be later. Think of Kraft’s deeds that are now long forgotten. That is to say, my gut feel is that whatever calamity the sword’s prophecy refers to, it doesn’t fall within the anime’s scope. It’s some other calamity, possibly thousands of years in the future, that will need a hero to deal with… and by which time the deeds of Himmel will be long forgotten, just as Kraft’s were before. No-one’s trying to pull the sword from the stone because it belongs to a different story, one yet to be written.

thinking back, the reason they have a festival coincidentally right around when frieren and them show up to a lot of towns is probably because the festivals started due to the original party saving the town from something. if the trip is taking roughly the same amount of time for them to get from village to village as it did the first time, then they probably show up right around the anniversary of their first trip just 80 years later.
11:15 There's an interesting theory I came across about the sword. It's very much possible that the sword was last wielded by Kraft the elf who is a hero of old time, and since he's still alive the sword can't belong to a different hero! I love this theory more. This means that Himmel was ACTUALLY worthy, but he couldn't pull the sword out because the previous owner is still alive (something they can't know).
I don't think anyone in history has been able to pull it out since the Goddess of Creation placed it there. At one point I thought about the Hero of the South pulling it out. But how would it return to the stone after the Hero's death? Unless it magically returns to the sanctuary and sets itself on the stone.
The kiss wasn't magic, it's just that despite being 1000 years old Frieren has the appeal of a high schooler. Effective against other teenagers, not likely to do anything for a (more or less) morally upright 30 year old.
Man, I'm not into hundred years old girls all that much, but if I was an object of such seduction technique from a ultra-wise ultra-talented elf that has the smug look from being an occasional troll to friends - I'd get knocked out too! :D
Note that when Frieren pulled out the dissolving potion, it was a tribute to both Doraemon (the way she pulled it out) and Spy x Family (the Anya smile; the same voice actress)
I think we all knew episode 12 was going to hit Luke in the feels. Also, the reason Fern didn't want him to carry Frieren goes deeper than just his pervy hand motions i think. I could be completely off base here but in my opinion Fern is starting to have feelings she doesn't quite understand about Stark but shes at the point where she'd be jealous if Stark carried her and she doesn't understand her own feelings. It makes her a bit thorny for Stark to deal with.
The small sickle had me in stitches when I first watched this, I couldn’t stop laughing 🤣 There’s got to be a lot of honour in that kind of poverty, it’s a bit overboard 😆
As silly as the cloud scene with Stark is, I think there is something to be said about how his first thought was trying to include Fern. He was like, "Those clouds are hilarious, I want to tell Fern about them." Imo that's very sweet in its own way. I need them to date already lmao! And bro we all cried at the end of ep. 12 as Stark is trying the "Hamburg Steak." The speed that this show can get me to tear up in is really unreasonable xD Hero's Sword, my opinion: I'm anime only too (but it is to 17 as of now, NO SPOILERS HERE), but I have had the similar thoughts like what you first had, "Stark go pull the sword." Because to me I still get those "anime" vibes about if the Demon King is still around or not? Because it is a prophecy left unfulfilled, and since Frieren is a show that is hyper sensitive to details that it cannot go unleft?
Frieren just never misses to convey the emotions & make me all sentimental ...... It just doesn't. In some animes I can hold up pretty well but this anime is just different..... That's why I had been putting this anime off for so long after some episodes, today I completed it while I was alone (otherwise my parents would've been really worried to see me cry like a freak lol), And have to say this anime is just perfection & indeed a masterpiece
The thing about the sword is that it really has the fanbase divided at the moment. Some say it has no greater purpose and otherwise it is discrediting Himmel's honour and achievements. Others say the sword may have a greater purpose and it does not discredit Himmel or any other Heroes because they fulfilled their roles very well and brought an era of peace. BTW thanks for double reaction, my excitement is immeasurable and my Thursday is made good.
No it doesnt discredit him tf? Imagine being so gigachad you slay the demon lord with a shabby copy of the acutal hero sword. That just makes him cooler lmfao
@@ArchyPoppy Yeah, People over reddit are really fighting over it. You might wanna join them its not too late for the party. I personally would wait for the story to unfold.
Really been enjoying these reactions! I think the whole blowing a kiss scene is suppose to be comic relief with the joke that the hero's party and thus their apprentices are all super innocent when it comes to things that are "sexy" which plays well off of Frieren's stated lack of romantic and reproductive drive due to being an elf and her Master possibly having some fun at her expense in that regard. As for the villages all having festivals when they show up it may have something to do with the fact that they are taking the same path so they are getting to each village pretty close to the anniversary of the hero's party getting there and usually saving the day.
2:30 Fern is jelous when other people touch Frieren....or it could also be she doesn't want Stark to carry another woman Stark's brother was such a chad 46:30 Frieren blowing a kiss to Himmel was super effective, cuz he s in love with her.
If you want to know about "lord of the mountains" (which was the big boss outside the cave with the Hero's Sword), or as the Japanese say, "nushi," then watch Mushishi. (You should watch it anyway. It's an amazing anime.). They are basically huge versions of regular animals out of Japanese folklore that seem to have high intelligence and a mystical control over the other animals and sometimes plants and weather of a particular area. Totoro was supposed to be a nushi. I think Stark would never try to pull the sword himself. He ran away from his village when it was attacked and destroyed by demons. My guess is that he would never think himself worthy to hold the sword of a legendary hero, but he did flashback to his brother, who he probably thought would be able to actually pull out the sword.
@46:45 You have an appreciation for Frieren's facial expressions. You also have an appreciation for Anya Forger's facial expressions. How appropriate that both characters have amusing facial expressions as well as sharing the same voice actress. FRIEREN = ANYA.
47:12 Frieren shows basically no emotion toward anyone, even her traveling companions. So for them to see her cast a very simple charm spell ("blow kiss" is a very low level spell in many rpgs) - while having practically no effect on a stranger - would be quite effective on those who know her so well.
51:56 😂😂😂 I think the celebrations have to do something with Sein finally getting hooked like a fish 😂😂😂 It's funny how he agrees and then the fish is caught at the same time. Don't think it's a coincidence 😂😂😂
6:59-7:07 and 10:32-11:07 Two thoughts that came to mind from these moments in Episode 12 was either: a) the calamity that would need to be stopped by the Hero has yet to come; or b) the Demon King will return, and Himmel really wasn't the Hero destined to draw the Hero's Sword. I also wondered if Flamme the Legendary Mage or Frieren were responsible for helping to enchant/forge the Hero's Sword in the distant past. For the record, I don't actually know if any of these are the case or not. These are just thoughts that I had when I first watched the episode.
"Also as of this video going out, the tournament will be live on the community tab for the big anime watchalong" * imitates Kaguya-sama Narrator voice * Uso de aru.
And thus the second party going through ridiculous and fun adventure has been completed. Frieren carrying Himmel the Fake Hero's memories. Fern carrying Frieren the Despicable Mage's way of magic. Stark carrying Eisen The Cowardly Warrior's strength. Sein carrying Heiter the Corrupted Priest's wisdom.
If you think about it, failing to pull the hero's sword was a blessing since it allowed Himmel's party to go on a fun adventure by not bringing along something that keeps luring monsters to them. also Stark's arms are probably reserved for Fern, not even Frieren can be allowed to be carried by those arms.
13:43 There are many reasons why Stark didn't try to pull out the sword. 1) He's an axe-guy 😂 2) He doesn't think he's a hero. 3) It's actually a SERIOUS SECRET. Himmel was buried with fake sword but everyone thinks it was a real one as explained in this episode, so Stark pulling the sword out will reveal that Himmel was faking it + Stark may as well be accused of impersonating a hero. Basically the trio know they need to keep the truth about the sword a secret.
you can see there's a flick of frame where stark's brother was showed, its because stark think his brother is more deserve to do it than himself thats why he didnt pull the sword
54:21 "She can do these things with different parties." This begs the question: were Himmel and the others 80 years ago the first party Frieren adventured with? Or did she have others before them? We learn in this episode, when Himmel asks her to join, Frieren says, "It's been over 500 years since I've killed a demon." If we assume Flamme - a human - did not live more than 100 years, and Frieren says its been 1000 years since she watched her plant that one shielding tree, then there may be approximately 400 years of time in between Flamme's death and "the last time [Frieren] killed a demon" in which... did she have other adventures? If so,, has she forgotten them?
You're right it's a litteral video games, in French translation of Frieren's subtitles they use a lot the word "quest" for what people request them so yes. Reminding me Zelda's games or World of Warcraft
Again, glad to know you are catching up. No other anime depicts emotions this gently. Next episode is going to be a peak😇 And too bad, It's HEITER, not Heinkle🤣
Mana suppression doesn't strengthen it, but it is a skill that is a reflection of one's level of control. Strengthening is a matter of practice over time, which is why the long-lived races have more potential, and undoubtedly why the Demon King had the elves wiped out. Ironically, by trying to prevent a Frieren, he made her. Also, watch the scene where Himmel got knocked out again after you get the back story on Frieren's ring and it should all make sense to you by then.
Frieren has a 10/10 story, animation, characters, OP and ED. I literally can't say anything bad about the anime lmao. I've never had an anime where almost each episode makes me tear up haha. 💚💚💚
The OP sucked. The second OP also sucks. Everything else is so uncontroversially great but I don't know who approved those two OPs. One must be asking why someone that has the musical taste to invite Evan Call to do his magical music score and Milet to do the ED would approve those OPs.
Man that ending of ep 12... Can't believe he can have something that good without being a long anime or some detective shit. Pick up that sword man! Be careful of snakes, man a priest with those qualities must be a high priest!
I love how we learn about Flamme just by what she taught Frieren. "Men like potions that dissolve clothes" "This is how you seduce a man". Will be interesting to see other stuff she taught Frieren.
Saw this on a meme But the party that defeated the Demon King sure is interesting: You have the Fake Hero, the Corrupt Priest, the Coward Warrior, and the "dishonorable" mage
My eyes teared up. For me, that is EXTRAORDINARY. I haven't cried since I was 12. I have met Stoltz for a total of 20 seconds. A fictional character from an anime... My eyes teared up.... What the F is this show man...
i believe flamme's training frieren to suppressed her mana and also works out to increase her base mana level/quality. so yeah i think they can increase their mana quality while still suppressing it. hence why frieren have way more mana now than when she met flamme the 1st time.
Sais I've done good remembering the original part, second party member in says it wrong. But maybe I just mishear it being said heikel instead of heiter
Frieren seductive technique works on Himmel because she is his "type", Fern and Stark also sees frieren physique around their own age, Sein on the other hand prefer "~Ara ara" women so it doesn't work on him

You are reading too much to that kiss scene 😂 It was just to show that Sein didn't have any attraction towards Frieren because she isn't really his type. He likes older woman (onee-san type) which are typically busty in animes. It worked on Himmel because he obviously attracted to her.
"what was the reason" Fern is a pervert, which she projects onto Stark. She assumed he's being lecherous, because she herself is always thinking lecherous things.
it's actually crazy to me how many people dont get this. Fern isn't actually pure like she acts, and she's not as mature as she pretends. She's lewd and immature and constantly projecting, and she's too young and antisocial to know how to properly communicate. She out of the entire party is the one that probably needs to grow up the most, even if Frieren is superficially "the child" with how she acts regarding sleep and stuff.
What Frieren meant by aversion of her own kind, she didn't mean it as in a race thing but as in both of them being considered a 'genius'. Btw, you had me dying with the balls in the tub joke 😂

12 as Stark is trying the "Hamburg Steak." The speed that this show can get me to tear up in is really unreasonable xD
Hero's Sword, my opinion:
I'm anime only too (but it is to 17 as of now, NO SPOILERS HERE), but I have had the similar thoughts like what you first had, "Stark go pull the sword." Because to me I still get those "anime" vibes about if the Demon King is still around or not? Because it is a prophecy left unfulfilled, and since Frieren is a show that is hyper sensitive to details that it cannot go unleft?
Frieren just never misses to convey the emotions & make me all sentimental ...... It just doesn't. In some animes I can hold up pretty well but this anime is just different..... That's why I had been putting this anime off for so long after some episodes, today I completed it while I was alone (otherwise my parents would've been really worried to see me cry like a freak lol), And have to say this anime is just perfection & indeed a masterpiece
I'm glad I was not the only one crying at the Stark scene. 1💚

Большое Вам спасибо за искренние эмоции. Это аниме великолепно. Пересматривал его 3 раза (^_^)
@@brotato966 nah no need. If they cant understand how much of a gigachad himmel is themselves there is no point
46:32 bro is always confused 😂😂
Like this - ( 1+1 = 2 ) Bro is like 😱😱😱🤯🤯🫨☠️
Why R U always confused ????
Why why why......
"I remember all the original party"
Yeah, no, it's HEITER not HEIKEL. But the fact you remember 3 of 4 is already surprising. LUL
2:30 Fern is jelous when other people touch Frieren....or it could also be she doesn't want Stark to carry another woman
Stark's brother was such a chad
46:30 Frieren blowing a kiss to Himmel was super effective, cuz he s in love with her.
When Frieren tells you you're not focusing on the present enough and you might regret it in the near future, you know you messed up.
8:27 thats the cutest Apache attack helicopter I have ever seen.
31:04 Stark : Something bit me.
Solar Dragon : BRAVO!!!
51:56 😂😂😂 I think the celebrations have to do something with Sein finally getting hooked like a fish 😂😂😂 It's funny how he agrees and then the fish is caught at the same time. Don't think it's a coincidence 😂😂😂
6:59-7:07 and 10:32-11:07 Two thoughts that came to mind from these moments in Episode 12 was either:
a) the calamity that would need to be stopped by the Hero has yet to come; or
b) the Demon King will return, and Himmel really wasn't the Hero destined to draw the Hero's Sword.
I also wondered if Flamme the Legendary Mage or Frieren were responsible for helping to enchant/forge the Hero's Sword in the distant past. For the record, I don't actually know if any of these are the case or not. These are just thoughts that I had when I first watched the episode.
"Also as of this video going out, the tournament will be live on the community tab for the big anime watchalong"
* imitates Kaguya-sama Narrator voice * Uso de aru.
6:00 she also voice acted Mona from Genshin Impact, Chika from Kaguya-sama and Roxy from Mushoku Tensei
"I've done surprisingly well with Frieren. I remember all of the original party" Then immediately messes up Heiter's name.
13:43 There are many reasons why Stark didn't try to pull out the sword.
1) He's an axe-guy 😂
2) He doesn't think he's a hero.
I agree that frieren's ending song is the best of 2023.💚
54:21 "She can do these things with different parties."
This begs the question: were Himmel and the others 80 years ago the first party Frieren adventured with? Or did she have others before them?
We learn in this episode, when Himmel asks her to join, Frieren says, "It's been over 500 years since I've killed a demon."
If we assume Flamme - a human - did not live more than 100 years, and Frieren says its been 1000 years since she watched her plant that one shielding tree, then there may be approximately 400 years of time in between Flamme's death and "the last time [Frieren] killed a demon" in which... did she have other adventures? If so,, has she forgotten them?
It's Really bizzare hearing calm and collected voice of Himmel, his VA mostly having high tempered and hot headed character like Bakugo & Garfiel.
You're right it's a litteral video games, in French translation of Frieren's subtitles they use a lot the word "quest" for what people request them so yes. Reminding me Zelda's games or World of Warcraft
green
I'm just here from patreon to give a 1 and a 💚 Frierens been so good cant wait for the new episode tomorrow
Seeing the scenes again makes me tear up everytime. God this series is so good.
Frieren: "Yes! Now I can finally try the spell for pulling people out of bottomless swamps. What was it again?"
Again, glad to know you are catching up. No other anime depicts emotions this gently. Next episode is going to be a peak😇
And too bad, It's HEITER, not Heinkle🤣
I blush every time I rewatch that kiss.
25:56 At least Millet concern about you. 🤣
Two episodes on one reaction, back to back, what a treat 🖤
❤️
Mana suppression doesn't strengthen it, but it is a skill that is a reflection of one's level of control. Strengthening is a matter of practice over time, which is why the long-lived races have more potential, and undoubtedly why the Demon King had the elves wiped out. Ironically, by trying to prevent a Frieren, he made her.
Also, watch the scene where Himmel got knocked out again after you get the back story on Frieren's ring and it should all make sense to you by then.
Also, yeah, you know the voice of the village chief girl. Same VA as Mei from Hell's Paradise and Chika from Kaguya-sama
Frieren has a 10/10 story, animation, characters, OP and ED. I literally can't say anything bad about the anime lmao. I've never had an anime where almost each episode makes me tear up haha. 💚💚💚
So true. I really can't think of a single thing I'd change about it 💯
The OP sucked. The second OP also sucks. Everything else is so uncontroversially great but I don't know who approved those two OPs.
One must be asking why someone that has the musical taste to invite Evan Call to do his magical music score and Milet to do the ED would approve those OPs.
I totally thought it was Rem, but nope. She is Chika from "Kaguya-sama" and Roxy from "Mushoku Tensei" though
The long awaited reaktion... FINALLLY! FRIEREN!!!❤
Great reaction ! 💚💚
I know the village chief as Arona from Blue Archive they used the same voice too XD
Man that ending of ep 12... Can't believe he can have something that good without being a long anime or some detective shit. Pick up that sword man! Be careful of snakes, man a priest with those qualities must be a high priest!
Did you really not understand why Fern didn't wanna let Stark hold Frieren? Damn, you're very innocent.
He's just like Stark fr fr
@@cedricmichaud552 frrrrr
I love how we learn about Flamme just by what she taught Frieren. "Men like potions that dissolve clothes" "This is how you seduce a man". Will be interesting to see other stuff she taught Frieren.
Saw this on a meme
But the party that defeated the Demon King sure is interesting:
You have the Fake Hero, the Corrupt Priest, the Coward Warrior, and the "dishonorable" mage
Eisens voice-lines are the best voice-lines.
My eyes teared up.
For me, that is EXTRAORDINARY.
I haven't cried since I was 12.
I have met Stoltz for a total of 20 seconds.
A fictional character from an anime...
My eyes teared up....
What the F is this show man...
The tears in Luke's eyes made me cry omg
i believe flamme's training frieren to suppressed her mana and also works out to increase her base mana level/quality. so yeah i think they can increase their mana quality while still suppressing it. hence why frieren have way more mana now than when she met flamme the 1st time.
Fern is so greenminded while Stark is so childish that even in his dream all he wants is a giant ice cream. Maybe Fern is much pervy than we think.
Sais I've done good remembering the original part, second party member in says it wrong. But maybe I just mishear it being said heikel instead of heiter
If you ever notice, Sein is voiced by Gojo’s VA
Truly the best show of the year. Yeah, other shows have better action and such, but this is just fantastic.
People are a complex lot. Frieren just wanted to give Sein the opportunity that Himmel and his party gave her.
53:30 Heiter* lol
Fren Sein added to the party!
As far as we know, mana suppression doesn't increase your strength, otherwise I think it would be more common.
42:44 this is literally New Game Plus
33:49
Bursted my laugh for this!
12:04 basically her New Game +
Frieren seductive technique works on Himmel because she is his "type", Fern and Stark also sees frieren physique around their own age, Sein on the other hand prefer "~Ara ara" women so it doesn't work on him

Stark and Fern are so cute!!!
2 episodes in 1 yeeeee !
After all there is the same toddlery energy between both Anya and Frieren
Hi! 💚
You are reading too much to that kiss scene 😂 It was just to show that Sein didn't have any attraction towards Frieren because she isn't really his type. He likes older woman (onee-san type) which are typically busty in animes. It worked on Himmel because he obviously attracted to her.

"what was the reason"
Fern is a pervert, which she projects onto Stark.
She out of the entire party is the one that probably needs to grow up the most, even if Frieren is superficially "the child" with how she acts regarding sleep and stuff.
green heart.
(•ө•)💚
I think "her own kind" meant a genius, but I'm just guessing.
What Frieren meant by aversion of her own kind, she didn't mean it as in a race thing but as in both of them being considered a 'genius'.
Btw, you had me dying with the balls in the tub joke 😂
@42:22 Luke, since you're clearly so familiar with video game tropes, I highly recommend exploring the Epic NPC Man series from @VivaLaDirtLeague, which satirizes a lot of fantasy video game tropes. These Kiwis do it right.
