Not only does the Pac man wall effectively stop vehicles, it just dawned on me that the other side could be used as a ramp

The air is just for servo effect for driver's leg (clutch is air, too)- still use incompressible liquid in the lines to the calipers/drums/master/slave cylinders.
I'd love to see these installed near me, we have an issue with people speeding...

While the PAC Man wall seems most efficient at STOPPING cars, it definitely isn’t the safest lol. I wonder what kind of tests could be performed to determine which wall leaves the driver most intact.

I was thinking a 90 degree ramp might be best for safety, assuming the car rolled back down.
I assume multiple breakaway walls would be the best way, so with each layer the car will be slowed more and more, kind of like what they use to stop runaway 18wheelers.

@@christophermorgenstern1372 the way it broke seems to point to that, possibly lost some to head banging too hard into the seat in front of them.
Pacman worked well here because it allowed the car's own suspension to handle some of the impact forces. If the curved wall was larger, it would be able to do the same, however, at the small size it is in the video, the suspension is hardly able to take over any of the force of the crash, and the majority it on the front end crumple zone.

@@bold-Motion that was not a drift you must go right to drift to the left in cars, and the wheel position isn't like a drift it's basically a car sliping there.

There's a pretty nice wall to crash into up and down freeways all across the country, better known as The Cheese Grater. Thick strands of cable stretched between break away metal posts. Motorcyclists aren't impressed.

Yeah man. Such a tragic death. Grosjean's crash at Bahrain was a horrible reminder that F1 may have evolved in terms of technology (for the worst in my opinion), but safety is always an issue. Dude's car got split in half. It reminded me more of Helmut Koinigg's crash in '73.
