Congratulations my fellow yardie! Yes we no come here to play around and like I said dem ago tiaad to see me walk around saying "hello I am a Nurse Practitioner"
@@Fjhsxnkhsxkkrvvhfdggvv I left the hospital and did some travel nursing while finishing NP school.. Been practicing as a NP for almost 2 years now. Best decision I have ever made. No regrets! All the best on your journey.
I loved your attitude and energy throughout the day. During my first delivery, a very talented nurse practitioner identified a serious infection, ran stat tests and communicated efficiently. If it wasn't for her, mine or my child's life would have been in danger. Healthcare is a teamwork and accounts for highest amount of professionalism. It is shame some members often forget that . All the very best to you!
The worst part about your situation is nurses already are rude and bitter to NPs for whatever reason but also being a Black woman it’s like no respect and i hate that for us. Thanks for your positive attitude , definitely inspiring me to go to NP school after I finish my masters ! :)
I don't understand why "women of color" has to be a thing. No one cares what color you are. Except for extremist, but there are extremist on both black and white sides. People have bad days and good days. I am an ICU nurse (ICU nurses are extremely critical and analytical, which is why they work in the ICU). Sometimes I'm rude and sometimes not. I never once felt like I was being mistreated for my color. That is so small minded in my opinion. She is a NP and she is making it. No one tried holding her back or succeeded at it so why the fuss? Get over it!
@@Dancess24 oh please sounds like ur a white person who has never experienced what it’s like to be a black woman (I bet you’ll decline and say ur black) lol but the way ur talking I know ur white.
To be quite honest, I believe some nurses are just envious/jealous that you are in that role. The fact that you are black only adds fuel to the fire. Before I left my last job, I emailed all the nurses telling them how I was leaving to pursue my FNP degree. One of my co workers flat out told me, “the grass isn’t greener on the other side” then processed to walk out the door without any words of congratulations to me. During one of my clinical rotations, a patient asked if I was training to be an LPN. Ummm...why would you ASSume that when you clearly see that I am here with the FNP? If I got a penny for every time I was mistaken for a CNA or the like (no shade), I’d be a millionaire 🙄. *end rant*
I understand your frustrated when patients assume you're a CNA or an LPN...but I urge you to reframe it. The patients who say that can only see your gentle humility. (Perhaps they're throwing shade, but since you are intelligent and know how hard you work, you can't assume that..so think it's only the best comments!) You don't put on airs of superiority and did what's what effort you've put in towards your degree! Hear it as a compliment instead.
We should never reframe a thought or belief that someone being rude is a compliment, because it is not. It is poor behavior that reflects what is going on inside the rude perso. We should never think that allowing someone to be rude to us is providing therapy to them because it is the opposite. It actually has the potential to promote more rude and uncalled for behavior. Staying professional was the best move in that situation. Going to HR or management with repeated offenses would frame better as therapy for a person like her. It could give her a look at her actions and possibly guide her toward managing her reactions better or it could actually lead her to therapy to get the help she needs. We can't encourage such behavior. And nurses have to stop eating their young as well as their peers. It is enough.
@@LovelyGlow01 you are correct. We cannot change the behaviors of others. We can only change our reaction to it. ...Thus my opinion is to grant compassion to the offensive person. PERHAPS, that person will consider their own behavior in the future because of how I reacted... Either way, Lisa handled the situation beautifully.
@@bluefamily3937 Hello! Just to clarify, the issue is deeper than just someone thinking I am a CNA or an LPN. I had an interview recently & when I got to the job, the secretary said, “you must be interviewing for the LPN position.” I told her that I was here for the RN position. She repeated,”Oh, the LPN position.” My issue has been that people automatically assume, because of my race, that I must be a CNA or an LPN. This happens to me so frequently as well to my sister who is a nurse as well.
I agree with you regarding having compassion for others. And if the person does not consider their own behavior then it should be addressed...not with the same rude behavior but professionally. I agree Laurie handled it beautifully. 😉
I’m sorry that some nurses are so mean and disrespectful to you. I think they were just jealous of you because you got a higher education. Either way, I feel every human being should be respected, no matter what. Stay positive! It’s my first time seeing your video. You have a new subscriber! 🥰
Um... why am I just finding your channel? You’re delightful and you keep it real. The fact you see 20 plus patients almost 30 is beyond me... your docs are lucky to have you. Yes I can empathize with you regarding the ICU thing... I get the stare down sometimes and I just have to let it roll off...sometimes I want to say “aren’t you the one who calls me for Lasix all the time when it’s not even needed? Anyway can’t wait to see all your videos!
Thanks so much! I do see a lot of patients but only one weekend monthly so I am not complaining. We definitely have to just let somethings go we can't win it all. One 💚
Probably comes from them having to really trust themselves and have confidence in their ability to care for icu patients. Hesitating for even a few seconds can have pretty negative effects since those patients are just so fragile.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that :( I am currently in my sophomore yr of college taking prereqs for nursing school...most of the time I am stressed and question myself. However, watching your video gave me so much joy and I am realizing this is what I want to do. Thank you!!
So glad I found you in my recommended!! I’ll be starting my ADN RN program in January and end goal is to be an NP. I’m so excited and anxious to start learning!
As a nurse wanting to be an NP one day is see this from both sides. I get condescending looks from NP’s and docs. They brush me off as a nurse when I ask stuff, and I’m nurse it’s the other way around too. I know some nurses think they know more than an NP and don’t respect them. It’s really childish. Proud of you for sticking through it and making videos for others to learn!
😊😩 I have to contain myself esp when I am upset bc if I am gonna make a rude remake to someone I want them to know what I am saying! Thanks for watching
I am a Surgical Tech, have been for a year now. When I just started i got some push back when I would jump in and help the nurses more patients, comfort patients while they fell asleep under anesthesia, help clean the rooms with the hospital attendants, pretty much just be helpful, and do my job. I had a fellow Surg Tech tell me that what I'm doing is not my job, or I've had people ask me why I'm doing those things, and I've had nurses give me dirty looks because I'm cleaning the rooms and mopping the floors. First off the faster we get the OR clean the faster we get the next case in, second move an go whe! Nuh come tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing, why don't you just come help. I hate how nurses and other staff treat people. It's sickening. and it's some of the same duty rude people that keep asking me to join their team. I just ignore dem and cuss dem in my mind lol. Keep up the hard work you are an inspiration. We may never know the answers as to why you catch attitude for no reason, but keep inspiring!!
Tell dem move go weh!! 😩😩 But that is the problem with nursing/patient care all of it, bc a lot of those ppl working in this field now is the me or I type of ppl, that is your job not mine etc. I am all for saying that is your job if someone is just lazy and don't want to work, but with team work all of that makes it go by so fast. They asking you to join their team bc you have proven to be a great worker. Thanks for watching! One 💚
Your awesome, but there needs to be another NP on weekends, 28 patients is toooo much for 1 person in one day!! Im a new Cardiovascular ICU NP of 8 weeks and this new grad struggle is real!!! Thanks for being amazing and giving us great content!!
I AGREE! I am the only NP for my boss I only do it once a month but I just suck it up! The new grad struggle is definitely real. Congratulations on your new job! Thanks for watching
Lol, the thing is I was a ICU nurse for 10yrs. I do know about those type A personalities, however the attitude I get from most of them is plain nasty. I asked one nurse once about a pt levophed drip and she looked at me like "why do you want to know that" I get it that I am not the provider that makes any decision on ICU patients, but we are required to round on these patients.
Amen and God bless you for taking the high road;) I left my job in nursing because of Point# 1 & 2 that you mentioned, and we all knew what #2 was;) anyone in nursing today, could read in between the lines and figured it out. And YES, IT WAS SO BAD, I HAD TO LEAVE!!!! GOD BLESS YOU AND STAND STRONG AND FIRM;)
Hi Laurie! This is my first video on your channel and WOW! You are such an inspiration and I aspire to be in your shoes one day- I’m a nurse right now on a Med/Surg/Tele floor and I’ve been a nurse for almost a year and half and I just applied to FNP school. I also started off as a CNA and seeing you achieve your NP degree is amazing! Keep up the amazing work! ❤️❤️ Also, I’m sorry you had to deal with mean/rude nurses- unfortunately as nurses we find ourselves in these situations often. As nurses we should always be uplifting one another, not putting each other down.
Thanks so much for stopping by and watching! You will definitely get there my dear it is all about baby steps. You know first hand, coming from a CNA! Best of luck to you!
Damn girl I cant believe there still people like that icu nurse. Keep doing what you do girl I love your videos. I'm from Puerto Rico and you inspire me ☺

I love your attitude and you are right we know why she was rude, am Hispanic and got the same treatment when I was doing my clinical rotations as an RN.
So I’ve been looking for a NP to do Day in the Life, who looks like me and does hospital. I found you and I’m so glad. So as a “retired” ICU nurse I never understood the I only listen to the Dr, when we have tons of NPs on our services especially at night. But most likely it’s the second reason why she acted like a donkey rear-end. But usually when I get that I flip on them and start acting really concerned and scared FOR her “are you ok? Are you ill? You look flushed. I was only asking who the nurse was and if you can at least overhead call him to the desk please. But feel better.” Also, Caribbean dreame peppermint tea is my favorite! ❤️ ❤❤
You. Are. Awesome! God bless you. The nasty attitudes of some people just really piss me off but you handled it so well! She’ll get hers, I truly believe what you give you will get back!!
I really enjoyed this video. It is extremely hard to find black women Nurse Practitoner's on TH-cam. I'm just a senior in high school but it was fun seeing what your work entails. I can't wait to become a nurse Practitioner, and I also love that your Caribbean.
Aww thanks so much for watching! and all the best to you my dear. You have the most important thing figured out at your age, and that is knowing what you want to become. Best of luck

I really love your videos!!! Thank you for keeping it real! That nurse was childish, but you handled it very well. Thank you for being you and sharing these videos.
Thank you for making this video , I am going to school to become a LPN and I want to eventually become a NP I know it's going to take years and dedication but I am so looking forward to it ! Thank you for the motivation! 😁
omg... at 6:29 as you were sitting I was thinking the place you’re sitting at looks familiar!! I think we work at the same hospital I walk through there everyday!!
Some ICU nurses are probably the most jealous of them all. They most likely want to move forward but for some reason they can't (grades) or won't (lazy). It's all good though. Just smile and move on gracefully 🤣👌🏽
The thing is I am a former ICU nurse and I had NP's coming to my unit all the time and I do not ever remember a time when myself or any of my ICU pals treated them bad. I only time I get annoyed with folks its when they don't do their job! Yes its all good!
@@fromcnatonp Exactly. I have never treated anyone bad because I'm not that kind of person but you never know when or if you might need someone's help that you may have treated badly before. Hi Laurie, thanks for the uploads especially the DITL..love those!!Random, I love how the music just came in towards the end of the video. Idk, it was well fitting and I was like "aye Go girl, keep your head up".

Believe me ,what ever you do never give up, finally I've become a NP on my 3rd attempt , I can’t believe I almost gave up after not making it for the 2nd time ,fortunately for me I was recommended to a tutor by my friends
I was recommended to a tutor and was told he has a record and has helped alot of students pass their NP and FNP tests please , i will need his informations
Geez, I always found most of the NP and PAs in my unit easy to talk to and helpful, willing to drop what they're doing to come and check on people I was concerned about.
MSN student here..contemplating if I want to go for my NP or DNP. I’ve realized the rudest nurses are the mean girls from high school. Idk why go into the field of nursing to be RUDE! Really disappointing
I'm only a freshman in highschool and I already know that I either want to be a registered nurse or go further and become a practitioner. Just have been looking into both nurse roles and seeing which would best fit me
Okay so it’s not just us little people (I’m a tech) that they are rude to!!! Reading these comments is blowing my mind. What is it with the ICU nurses? Anytime I get assigned ICU I have to mentally prepare myself. They are just uppity, selfish, snobs at my hospital. Not looking forward to being in that unit, but CRNA requires the time in a cc unit 😬
That’s crazy! They should be happy to work with you since you are a nurse with an advanced degree. The backlash is not cool. I pray for continued patience for you. I know I’ll be wanting to lash out, but because of our beautiful melanin people just want to hate.
@@fromcnatonp What was your experience with South University in-person? I'm a nurse at the Detroit VA girl you may want to look into a position there Primary Care no weekends or holidays?
Omg this is so true!!! I just started as a Nephro NP and rounding in ICU and one of the ICU nurses thought I left but I was in the corner trying to send a message to my collab physician heard her sayin “oh new NP anther one we have to watch for” 😂
I’m so very sorry this happened to you. You should report it to the CNO. If this happened to you, there are probably many other nurses who she tramples on. Before they increase her work responsibilities, they should know her drawbacks so they can work on it for improvement not necessarily punitive. 💕
Hi Laurie! So I recently subscribed to your channel which I don’t regret it because I found you really amazing 🙏🏾🙂I also want to become a NP too and I want to thank you for sharing your stories.🙏🏾🙏🏾😊Blessings 🇯🇲🇯🇲
You have got to take breaks from your N95 mask. The way you were breathing was kinda scary. It happens to me at work also. Just a helpful tip. I myself forget to take breaks by I’m so busy.
HELLO! I am working on my CNA right now, I start nursing school in August. I was wondering if you can make a sitdown video and talk about charting and how much time that takes out of your day? I want to work my way up to be a NP and I am a little worried about charting most of the time. Also, what is the difference in APRN and FNP?
APRN is an advance practice nurse so as a FNP you fall under that umbrella term just like a CRNA would also be considered a APRN bc they also have a masters degree. Charting is a lot but just have to get the hang of it. Good luck on your journey
Can you do a Q and A video? Also can you do a video I would like to know more about your program? How were the test? How was your teachers classes? How much harder was it then getting your BSN?
I will be watching for sure. You have motivated me to continue school. I graduate from lpn in December. I am trying to go back right away for my Bsn. I want my masters but I am scared. Watching your channel is motivating.
Ginger tea🇯🇲 😋 Some nurses are just miserable and nasty. The next time yuh see har, tell that dutty gyal fi gowhey😂 Just kidding! She doesn't like that you had the audacity to become an NP when we weren't supposed to learn to read in the first place!
Stay strong sweet heart ♥️ that’s the devil trying to make you stumble but you stay strong sweet heart 💜 let them act how they want you keep your head up love
So when you’re seeing your pts what exactly are you asking them and charting ? I’m an LPN working in the hospital and Iam goin back to school for my APGNP . What is the difference between DNP and FNP?
You summed it up. As an NP, you get dissed by all 3 parties: the patients, the docs, and the nurses. Well, plus the family and the rest of the healthcare "team." Minus the nursing money. So ... the math is not there. Stick with nursing ... or go to med school. Nothing in-between.
I am also a former ICU nurse and it was crazy to me when I experience this. I had to ask all my former ICU friends if we acted in this manner. I know we all not all like that.
Hi Laurie, I have been watching your journey and have much respect for you. I am an RN working towards my BSN. One of my assignments is requiring me to interview a nurse practitioner and how their role changed. I will be honored to get an interview with you. May I have an email that I can send the question to please if you are willing to be interviewed?
Hi, I am currently a staff nurse and want to be an NP, but I don't know which route to go. I feel like I would be bored in a clinic bc I did ICU for 12 years, and now do PRE-Op PACU at an outpatient surgery center. But, I don't want to be married to a hospital full time. What do you do that you get to go into the hospital once a month? What do you do when you round? See if they need anything for the weekend? I would hate not feeling respected when you enter the ICU or anywhere... Those are the old days when nurses stood down to doctors. Congrats on getting your masters... I've been dragging my feet for years b/c I don't like writing papers or presenting.. But, I need to get over it and advance my career... Happy New Year!
Hello thanks for watching and sorry for late reply I saw this late. I actually work for a Internal Med physician who along with 3 other doctors rotate their weekend to round in the hospital so I primarily work for in the OP setting but once a month round on pt who are admitted in the hospital under these 4 Dr. I see them as part of the medical team. If you want to work in the hospital as a NP I suggest getting your NP as Acute Care. Good luck to you
yall will hate this but here it goes...So when there is an "open" ICU, often the NP who is on the primary team rounding on their pts they are just coming around, for the most part, to maybe just....order some labs and write notes. Thats why, in part, the ICU nurses are dismissive of a NPs is because the nurses know that the ICU docs run the show and not the primary team phsycian yet alone the NPs! Icu docs are the ones that either yell/praise them for doing their job so they are focused on exucuting their orders.
I am former icu nurse and I definitely know how the icu works, however that does not give nurses the right to be rude. I had NP/PA came to the icu I worked in and never was I dismissive.
Wow. Really sorry that happened. Honestly, I would of reported her to upper management. Health care is a team effort. Everyone's job is hard! we all need to work with each other a little nicer. Being mean to each other doesn't hurt us, it hurts our patients.
when you first started as a hospitalist, did you get a thoroguht orientation or you just kind of had to figure things out yourself. I am a new NP and have a few Hospitalist interviews coming up and will love some insight on how your training process was.

We should never
reframe a thought or belief that someone being rude is a compliment, because it is not.
I can’t appreciate enough how much reality you include in your video ❤️
I accidentally stumbled on your channel and I'm so happy you're Jamaican! Yuh accent cya hide! Big up. 🇯🇲
Definitely can't hide this accent 😩 even if I try. Thanks for watching
I’m sorry that some nurses are so mean and disrespectful to you. I think they were just jealous of you because you got a higher education. Either way, I feel every human being should be respected, no matter what. Stay positive! It’s my first time seeing your video. You have a new subscriber! 🥰
Thanks for subscribing! Thanks for watching appreciate that
Please make a video on how you handle insults and toxic people in the medical field.
I actually was taking of this and a few ppl asked me so I guess I will. Thanks for watching
I love NPs they help us nurses so much to get much needed help for our patients 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for watching
I love how you still remain happy even with dealing with rude people, I just came upon your channel and I love it.
Thanks so much!
Um... why am I just finding your channel? You’re delightful and you keep it real. The fact you see 20 plus patients almost 30 is beyond me... your docs are lucky to have you. Yes I can empathize with you regarding the ICU thing... I get the stare down sometimes and I just have to let it roll off...sometimes I want to say “aren’t you the one who calls me for Lasix all the time when it’s not even needed? Anyway can’t wait to see all your videos!
Thanks so much! I do see a lot of patients but only one weekend monthly so I am not complaining. We definitely have to just let somethings go we can't win it all. One 💚
Many ICU nurses have a know-it-all persona.
From a former ICU nurse, that is a true statement!
Yes we do 🤣🤣😉
Probably comes from them having to really trust themselves and have confidence in their ability to care for icu patients. Hesitating for even a few seconds can have pretty negative effects since those patients are just so fragile.
Another great video Laurie! It’s still shocking how snarky nurses can be towards NPs. Keep your head up! ✨
Yes! they are trust me. Thank you!
I'm so sorry you had to go through that :( I am currently in my sophomore yr of college taking prereqs for nursing school...most of the time I am stressed and question myself. However, watching your video gave me so much joy and I am realizing this is what I want to do. Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing!! I wish you the best my dear. Nursing is stressful I was there but one step at a time and don't be too hard on yourself!
So glad I found you in my recommended!! I’ll be starting my ADN RN program in January and end goal is to be an NP. I’m so excited and anxious to start learning!
Thanks so much for watching! Congratulations to you and good luck on your journey to nursing
Me too! Good luck
I already know what number 2 was. I’m a NP too and believe me, I get it!
😏 its almost an unspoken truth we know about!! Thanks for watching
I love when the patois pops out lol. Same with me when I’m annoyed. Oh and homegirl was jealous for sure. Just keep on being great!
Thanks for being amazing and giving us great content!!
ooopppp, just got to the part about the ICU Nurses!!! Hahaha, Type A personalities, not all of them are like that!! Keep your head up!!
Hi did you do a residency? Congratulations on your new position. That’s awesome. I’m sure you have done great by now and are in your groove!🙂👌
Congratulations 🎉 I Am trying to get info on how to become a cardiovascular ICU NP...
Thanks for sharing!! Thanks for watching appreciate it
Did you find a better position?
I'm from Puerto Rico and you inspire me ☺
They sure are. Thanks so much for watching. One 💚
Definitely defined the challenges but clear you really care for your patients. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks so much for watching!
What fun you are! You remind me of a good friend nurse I have who is from Africa, she is always so honest with me, and loving. Thank you for making these videos!
Wah gwaan Nurse ? A fellow yardie here finishing up my ADN, just came across your channel and you gave me a jolt of inspiration to continue pushing, bless up.
Wah gwaan? thanks so much for watching mi glad you find mi little corner of the internet. Congratulations on ADN. Blessings to you and best of luck moving forward
Currently in FNP school ☺️ Thank you for making this. New subbie!
Thanks for watching! Congratulations on NP school
Girl am super proud of you. You have very good content that can really benefit others...gwaan do yuh thing muah muah
Thanks so much my sister ❤️
I love your attitude and you are right we know why she was rude, am Hispanic and got the same treatment when I was doing my clinical rotations as an RN.
Thanks for watching! 💚
Thanks so much and thanks for watching! ☺️
You sound like u are from from Caribbean. As a Jamaican pursuing nursing I felt so proud to hear you speak.
Yes! I am from Jamaica 🇯🇲 Thanks for watching my dear and I appreciate that… best of luck on your journey
I just joined a nursing diploma program of 3 years. And will join bsn program after gaining a year of experience of RN. I aspire to be NP one day. :) I hope the route I am doing now will workout.
I really love your videos!!! Thank you for keeping it real! That nurse was childish, but you handled it very well. Thank you for being you and sharing these videos.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching
Laura, you are my friend in my head. Enjoy your videos so much! You look so cool while making rounds; I think I have said this before.
Oh thank you! *Laurie Thanks so much for watching. We are friends love
You’re so pretty! Thank you for sharing this video this is what I’m interested in so it really helps to see videos like these
Thank you so much!!
Thanks to sharing your real life experience! And thanks for being an np! Making a difference. 🤗
Thanks for watching
Am happy to see this video ma, Because am interested in nursing too.🥰
I love your vids! Thank you for sharing and thank God for professional Laurie ❤ Please keep the videos coming!
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you for making this video , I am going to school to become a LPN and I want to eventually become a NP I know it's going to take years and dedication but I am so looking forward to it ! Thank you for the motivation! 😁
You're so welcome! Girl one step at a time, don't worry you will get there. All the best to you. One 💚
omg... at 6:29 as you were sitting I was thinking the place you’re sitting at looks familiar!! I think we work at the same hospital I walk through there everyday!!
I don't doubt it! you might have seen me ☺️ thanks for watching and not saying what facility
Yeah, we know why!!! Love you keep up the great vids and good works
Thanks! Will do!
A fellow NP here! Good for you. Don’t fight them, waste of time!
Never we just carry on! Thanks for watching
New subscriber!!!!! I love your videos 😊. I will be starting my FNP journey next month. I love you my Jamaican sista!
Thanks for subbing! Thanks for watching and best of luck to you on your FNP journey
I've definitely experienced what you went through because I'm a black nurse so unfortunately it's our reality. Thanks for sharing your experiences 🌞
LMAO mi can relate.. Jamaica in ah di house talk yah. Im a NP in the ED and a Hospitalist at a prestigious hospital. Big up yuh self
Hi Laurie, thanks for the uploads especially the DITL..love those!!Random, I love how the music just came in towards the end of the video. Idk, it was well fitting and I was like "aye Go girl, keep your head up".
I get so glad when ppl comment on the editing bc I try so hard with it! 😊 I said to my husband see someone noticed. Thanks so much!
@@fromcnatonp youre very welcome!. Yay!!I'm honeslty so happy to hear this. I'm glad I commented on it..u see as small as it may seem or as unnoticeable as you think, I'm glad I went with my gut and commented on it because it ended up being something u consciously put effort in doing and it was recognized! Well done Laurie.
Liked. Commented. Subscribed! I was just searching for videos of NP's in hospitals the other day. So happy I came across your channel!
Thanks so much! I hope you have you an idea of what we do
Believe me ,what ever you do never give up, finally I've become a NP on my 3rd attempt , I can’t believe I almost gave up after not making it for the 2nd time ,fortunately for me I was recommended to a tutor by my friends
I was recommended to a tutor and was told he has a record and has helped alot of students pass their NP and FNP tests please , i will need his informations
I’m having a bad day your videos help put a smile on my face.
Geez, I always found most of the NP and PAs in my unit easy to talk to and helpful, willing to drop what they're doing to come and check on people I was concerned about.
Awesome video and message, continue to stay lifted!! YOU WAS MADE FOR THIS!!
Thank you, I will
MSN student here..contemplating if I want to go for my NP or DNP. I’ve realized the rudest nurses are the mean girls from high school. Idk why go into the field of nursing to be RUDE! Really disappointing
I'm only a freshman in highschool and I already know that I either want to be a registered nurse or go further and become a practitioner. Just have been looking into both nurse roles and seeing which would best fit me
I can't wait to become a NP one day! Love the vids💪
can you explain to mWhich university course to choose to become a nurse practitioner
Great video... I will be vlogging my clinical experiences soon as well!!
Best of luck! Thanks for watching
I know right! Thanks for that
@@fromcnatonp 💛❤️
Hi Laurie-Ann, congratulations on your journey.....can you say which NP school you attended?
I went to south university but on campus not online!
@@fromcnatonp What was your experience with South University in-person? I'm a nurse at the Detroit VA girl you may want to look into a position there Primary Care no weekends or holidays?
Omg I just saw your video and said yup she’s Jamaican 🇯🇲 bap bap I love it! I’m interested in NP but unsure what to specialize in
Omg this is so true!!! I just started as a Nephro NP and rounding in ICU and one of the ICU nurses thought I left but I was in the corner trying to send a message to my collab physician heard her sayin “oh new NP anther one we have to watch for” 😂
that nurse practitioner life, keep it up

One day I hope to be a CRNA! I'm still in school for an RN right now.
Thank you so much. I'll be on this journey soon!
No Prob! Good luck
I’m so very sorry this happened to you. You should report it to the CNO. If this happened to you, there are probably many other nurses who she tramples on. Before they increase her work responsibilities, they should know her drawbacks so they can work on it for improvement not necessarily punitive. 💕
Girl you know this industry is what is. Sad but true. I take it all with a grain of salt. Move onwards and upwards.
I am a care aide in a nursing home and ultimately I want to be a nurse practitioner (like you).
Thanks for watching... I started as a CNA so trust you will get there just continue to work towards it and trust your journey. Good luck to you
So, what is exactly what you do in the hospital? Wound care? As well?
Who are You & What are You doing here 😮 Aint U a CNA😅
Love you Sis 😍Hang in there
Hi Laurie! So I recently subscribed to your channel which I don’t regret it because I found you really amazing 🙏🏾🙂I also want to become a NP too and I want to thank you for sharing your stories.🙏🏾🙏🏾😊Blessings 🇯🇲🇯🇲

ICU nurses think there shut don’t stink .I remember transferring a pt up to icu and the lady was rude and angry for no reason .
😂😂😂 as a former ICU nurse I agree! But not all 😊
Great vlog as always 👍🏾👏🏾🤗
You have got to take breaks from your N95 mask. The way you were breathing was kinda scary. It happens to me at work also. Just a helpful tip. I myself forget to take breaks by I’m so busy.
Lol! I do need to take breaks but I speed up the video so it appears I am breathing harder than I really am. But great tip
Thanks so much for watching! Yes, I am planning a Q&A to mark my one year on TH-cam which will be 12/7!
I will be watching for sure. You have motivated me to continue school. I graduate from lpn in December. I am trying to go back right away for my Bsn. I want my masters but I am scared. Watching your channel is motivating.
Love your Videos!! As A fellow nurse, I always look up to NPs! Hope I can make it to FNP down the road!
You can do it! Best of Luck

@@fromcnatonp your welcome my dear 🙏🏼💕💜
So when you’re seeing your pts what exactly are you asking them and charting ? I’m an LPN working in the hospital and Iam goin back to school for my APGNP . What is the difference between DNP and FNP?
You summed it up. As an NP, you get dissed by all 3 parties: the patients, the docs, and the nurses. Well, plus the family and the rest of the healthcare "team." Minus the nursing money. So ... the math is not there. Stick with nursing ... or go to med school. Nothing in-between.
Not me being an ICU nurse listening to your tea....Sorry we’re not all like that. But I’m a night nurse so we’re typically way more chill.
Best of luck! fromcnatonp@gmail.com
@@fromcnatonp I agree they shouldn’t be that way. I found medicine on the East coast in general is harsher.
You would think they’d extend an extra courtesy to another nurse!
Yowwwwww deh dont knooo Jah deh dont knoooo 🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥 😂😂 # professional yesss 👌🏾 so

Wow. Really sorry that happened. Honestly, I would of reported her to upper management. Health care is a team effort. Everyone's job is hard! we all need to work with each other a little nicer. Being mean to each other doesn't hurt us, it hurts our patients.
Unfortunately its the nursing culture and we just move along! thanks for watching

when you first started as a hospitalist, did you get a thoroguht orientation or you just kind of had to figure things out yourself. I am a new NP and have a few Hospitalist interviews coming up and will love some insight on how your training process was.
So you do acute care NP? I’m debating whether I should do fnp vs acute care np
