For question 6 in the Practice Quiz from Ultimate Review Packet for the first unit, how is it national instead of global on map B? Also thank you very much for these videos, they're a lifesaver!
Excellent question! Question 6 is a hard question because it deal with scale of analysis. Remember we scale of analysis is about how the data is grouped or chunked together. Map B is looking at the national poverty lines and is displaying the information for each state, the data is grouped by states. So yes it is a global map but we are not looking at data through global scale of analysis, where state boundaries would not matter. Here the boundaries do matter because the data is grouped on the national scale. Thank you so much for supporting the channel and buying the packet! I am so happy it is helping you out!

wait i am so confused about the scale of anlaysis. So when you showed the Canadan and US map, you said it's natioanl scale. But isn't the infromation grouped by states/providnces rather than Canada and US. So shouldn't that mean its a local scale?
That's true but the the map shows two nations. Therefore it is concluded to be on a national scale. It would have been regional if it was if for example it would have show u the map of US, and the concentration of asian-american across the regions so like California, Florida, etc..

Hey Mr. Sinn, I've been watching your videos over APHUG recently to study for my upcoming AP Exam. I just wanted to say thank you for your videos as they've helped me a lot. Additionally, I've noticed a slight mistake in your definition of the Mercator Project; it says that it maintains distance, but that isn't true. It only preserves direction, and according to some sources, the shape of landmasses as well.
im in 8th grade and taking it in 9th grade so im gonna start preparing now. i find it easier to relearn so might as well learn now to relearn later 😂 i have months to study yay

Is 'scale' different from 'scales of analysis'? My AP textbook says a map is on a global scale, but the data is grouped by countries. So would this be classified as on the global scale, but with national scales of analysis? Thanks so much!
Yes! I actually just did a whole video on these two concepts. It is just under 3 minutes, but it talks about scale, scale of analysis, and large/small scale

First thank you so much for the support. But the study guide is in that packet, if you go to the site you can download the blank unit study guides and complete them as you watch the videos. Once you are done go back to the packet and check your answers in the key and take the practice quizzes
