I do remember this actress playing Irene, I recall on her first appearance she was looking for a ride, and the guy who stopped for her took one look and drove away in fear, lol!
The transition was probably the best way I've ever seen a recast being handled because the new Irene who had the same bleached hair also had the same wardrobe as the original irene and the clothes only changed long after the new irene was established. Most of the time soaps don't bother trying to match the image of the original actor.

I'm so glad that Lynne took over Irene's role. And I prefer Debra over Vanessa playing Pippa, could be the fact that I'm more used to Debra, but Vanessa was awesome.
@@AS-wj1du might not be aware of this but Babs Windsor was actually the 4th actress to play Peggy; the 1st left before filming a single scene; the 2nd filmed scenes weren't aired; the 3rd was a part time then the legend that was Babs took over

Lynne MacGranger played Irene better and made the character her own, I also like it when they redeem a character in soaps. They did the same in Neighbours with Janelle Timmins ( played by Nell Feeney ), she went from chav to a great character.

Still dont understand how Irene changed so much she use to be so nasty and cruel to her own kids and they were taken away from her. But she was sbke to foster?? And seem to treat other people's kids so much better then her own??
I liked this Irene tbh lol. I know people will disagree. But she would never fit in Summer bay . It's a pity she had to have a complete transformation to pillar of the community like everyone else. They should have kept her a little edgy.
She could've been the local dealer and even broken in some of the local lads and lasses at debauched parties in her caravan and paid her rent to Michael with a weekly gobby. Jack would've given her a go for sure, after all he did try it on with Flathead once when he snuck into bed with him before Sally finally gave it up.
