**First off,it's 3:00 am here,my english is bad as standards,but in this comment is gonna be even worst,so if you find any spelling error or extremely poor gramatical choises,that's why. Also my brain is right now exploding,so a bit of the information in this comment might be wrong
During Cold War(I think it was Cold War,it's 3:00am at me I'm probably wrong,anyway it happened and I'm sure about that) Americans lost a couple of nuclear missiles in accidents,in poor words:the planes that were carrying said missiles crushed in some way,the missiles landed in oceans or lakes,or any big watery place without exploding, sometimes they even landed on the ground, just without exploding. Buuuuut they still gave out big-ass radiations,which was severly hurting the people that lived near there,and the situation was reallybad,so americans tried their best to get em all back before something horrible happened,and they kinda did it. Now the USSR lost some nuclear missiles in the same way as well,but russians being russians, they kept secret how many they lost,how many they got back(and IF they got them back)and where they lost them.
Both Americans and USSR air forces were chilling in literally the entire world's skies at the time.
So...sleep well tonight bois,knowing there could be an unexploded nuclear missile somewhere and nobody knows it,also it might be slowly killing you right now :D
