Im actually really happy you guys are promoting upgrades for rifles; it comes to show that planned obsolescence is not something you guys do, rather, strive to be better for the consumer. I love it, keep up the good work lads!
Hey Tyler, nice vid it was very helpful as it clears up some ambiguities in the included instructions. I bought the regulator from you for my Gen 2 .22 synthetic just over a month ago, the gun itself from your Amazon store a week or two before that. I ran about 300 rounds through it before installing the regulator last night using the default lowest setting of 100 bar, and unfortunately accuracy went from acceptable to horrible. I removed it and set to the middle setting of 125 bar with no improvement. After that test round I noticed some metal fragments dropping out of the muzzle, so I opened up the moderator and found that pellets had impacted the baffles, damaging them badly, as well as the mangled and fragmented remains of what looks like one pellet. I then ran three mags through with the moderator unattached but the regulator still installed, same wildly inaccurate results. Finally I removed the regulator entirely, attached the moderator can without the baffles and spacers, and ran another three mags through. Results of that test showed a return to original good accuracy. I emailed images of the damage as well as three test targets to your customer support and even more gory details of my testing, but I thought I'd post my experiences here to give others a heads up to the potential problems. Until we figure this out, you might want advise customers to test the gun after installation without the moderator attached in case their installation causes similar results. Overall very happy with the gun, it hits hard for such a small package and is a real joy to keep handy out in the yard compared to my Marauder semi-auto. Really hoping we can get this sorted out. Thanks so much!
Need a bigger air reservoir not enough shots for pinking. I've adjusted the hammer spring on the Gamo urban and getting 35-40 shots per fill, before drop off at 35 yards. Getting 60-70 shots with the Beeman commander. Makes for a more enjoyable shooting time.
Installed the reg 3 times, 135 = 110 bar. 150=125 bar imaginary 165=135 bar that I was looking for 10.5 at 880 fps. Hand pump and rifle gauge are spot on. Works great with less than a 5 fps spread. Lot of pumping for an old dude :-( .
Hi - I have just a week ago bought the PP900W Gen2 which has the regulator pre installed. First time out with it and at 200bar it is chronoing at 12.7ftlb's. The legal limit is 12ftlb's. After about 6 shots it drops to just under 12 and stays there but for only around 27 shots as it drops off the regulator at 130bar. Looking at the chart you showed it should be set at 100bar so I need to alter the regulator setting. Unfortunately the gun does not come with the fitting tool. Do you happen to know the thread size on the end of the rod (dia and pitch) as it seems the rod is only available with a regulator which of course is already in my gun. Thanks in anticipation. Jim
I love the RWS diana rifles and I'm hoping that they make a PCP with a bigger air cylinder I will buy it but to have a PCP that only can shoot 17 good regulated shots is not worth the money for me. I am happy with my 22cal 460 magnum
Tyler....great video. Very informative, but I have two questions. First, if I look on-line at Pyramid Air do I look up Diana Stormrider regulator or is it the Altaros regulator? Secondly, does the Bandit' s fillport and pressure gauge fit onto the 1st Gen. Stormrider? There looks like there is a little less room at the end of fill tube and the moderator on the Gen 1 compared to the Gen 2 unit.
Thanks for the kind words Mike. It's on the site as Regulator for the stormrider and Bandit. Search PY-A-8938 to find it quickly. The pressure gauge should fit onto the Gen1, may be a little tight to get it on there. Worst case scenario, you loosen the barrel screws on top of the breech and slide the barrel out to get the gauge unit on, but I don't think that will be necessary.
At about 10 minutes on the Alterol company video they show replacing a gold disc with a silver one. To change air pressure thru put? Is the additional part included with the kit? Looks like something I could do. Great video. Thanks. I apologize if you have dealt with this in the other 900+ questions but I didn’t find it.
Great video. Does the new upgraded LDC bring the bark down any compared to the Gen 1? I made one with 3D printer and has made this Gen1 completely silent. All you hear is the hammer.
Great stuff.. The Stormrider was a very nice entry level PCP initially. With the addition of a regulator, Diana has upped the bar and taken the gun to the next level. Anyone who questions the need for a regulator, hasn't shot a regulated gun with any frequency. Great info.... The beard.... ehhhh.... not so much... LoL
I have this gun I’ve no doubt this reg is good but this takes no time to hand pump it’s accurate as it is all this technical stuff the guns pretty good anyway
Tyler, Great video as always, couple questions: where does the regulator seat in the reservoir tube? Against the pressure gauge thread? Also what is lost in the 100 cc reservoir because of the volume of the regulator? I have a gen 1 in 177 that has been excellent, very accurate 160-140 bar. Have the regulator in my cart waiting to hear back to decide how many shots it will give me.
It is mostly likely up against the pressure gauge, honestly didn't even look when installing. A very small amount of volume is lost (as with almost any aftermarket reg install) probably no more than 5-10cc. The reg would be a great upgrade for you. Between 160-140 BAR, you're likely only getting 7-9 shots....add the reg at a pressure like 120 (like we did in the video) and you should double that shout count, at least, from 200 BAR down to 120 BAR.
@@TomTerrific-vm3qg really depends on what you want to achieve. If you’re not happy with the consistency of the shot string, then it would make sense. But if you’re happy as is, probably not necessary
I have a gen 2 synthetic that I absolutely love. I want to install the regulator. I notice your gen2 has the pressure gauge on the bottom of the stock. Mine is on the end of the air cylinder, there is nothing on the bottom of the stock. So I assume that in my case i don't need to buy that new end cap with the gauge as my end cap already has a gauge. And that would also mean that I would have NO regulator gauge. Am I getting that right? Thanks for the help.
I purchased my Gen 2 synthetic about two months ago and the pressure gauge is in the stock as shown in the video. With the gauge on the front end cap, yes, you're only going to see the pressure in the tube, not in the regulator.
Have you installed one in the Diana Bandit? I have the .177 it really needs to be regulated. I thought I read somewhere there is a delay in the pressure coming up to the correct amount once you install the regulator and fire the gun. Is this true?
More efficient air use can be achieved by adjusting (increasing) the outlet valve spring tension and reducing the hammer strike energy (more shots per fill). Study Robert Lane's regulator tutorials on youtube. My .177 storm Rider is not accurate at all. The bore is too big and the pellets don't touch the rifling. Buy from PyramydAir. They are great for returns. Jack O'connor said "only accurate guns are interesting."
I bought my new diana stormrider gen2 from pyramydair , love it but my fill valve air pressure doesn't work after 2 weeks , I hope they can get me a new fill valve
I’d like to see this regulator being tested more. In .177 and .22. With the regulator how many accurate shots do it think you’ll get in the .177? To many questions gone unanswered. I’ve been wanting to buy the stormrider but that first gen was horrible.
That all depends on the power you want to achieve and the pressure you set the reg at. But similar to the .22, setting the reg at 120 BAR, will likely yield about 20 good shots on the reg. If we took the time to test all of the possible settings, the video would be an hour long. This is more about installation than anything else.
I don't get it. The first chart shows your unreg 7 shot -15 fps starting at 870.But your regulated 17 shots begin at under 810. That's a 60 fps difference. But you say "only 30 fps" loss. That doesn't sound right. Is that because you're going by averages. Can you keep the regulated output at 870?
In the cases where we carry the reg, we do. That service is available for some of the Hatsan models. I believe that's the plan for the Stormrider as well.
I see nowhere to buy the Diana Regulator, including Pyramid Air for the StormRider .22 Gen2. Maybe no longer sold. On the other hand, I get at least 2 mags (14 shots of FX Dome 15.89 grain) with 840-885 fps on my Gen 2 by simply filling up to 155 bar and going down to 125 bar. Get 3/4" groups at 25 yards using a $25.00 Pinty red/green dot sight.

Tyler Patner how did this affect grouping
I am really going to buy this gun and regulator. My crosman vantage is good rifle but I want PCP with magazine.
