All Access: Hans Zimmer Live

  • *Please Note: This documentary focuses on the rehearsal process and contains no final show footage. All audio, lighting, costumes and blocking are not final and not representative of the final concert. Please follow, like and subscribe to the official Hans Zimmer Live social media accounts for official glimpses of the show itself.
In 2014 Hans Zimmer tested the waters with Hans Zimmer Revealed And Friends in London for two shows, then in 2015 another little test with Interstellar Live for one show. In 2016 Hans announced a full European tour for Hans Zimmer Live, a journey that would take him and his band across Europe and play some of his greatest hits. In 2017 it was time to expand even further, this time with a worldwide tour that would span from North America, Australia, Europe and Asia. The stakes were higher and the pressure was on. Hans called out to his closest friends and collaborators to go on this journey as a band, and that’s exactly what they did. With only 2 weeks to fully rehearse as a group, the band worked out all the kinks and perfected their sound as a unit. Film.Music.Media was honored to be invited to document this rehearsal process as we spent two weeks with Hans, the band and the crew. This feature length All Access will take you on the same journey the band went on, and provide you with a unique and intimate experience from day 1 of rehearsals all the way up to the final band meeting before the tour kickoff. This All Access takes our observational approach to truly give you a real and unfiltered experience of feeling like you are in the room with Hans and the band. No sit-down interviews, just capturing moments and conversations. Feel the music come alive as we start with the close-quarter studio rehearsals and move into full production rehearsals on the expansive stage. Some special guests also drop in to join in on the fun. We are honored to be able to bring you this unique experience that hopefully shines a light on these amazing musicians, the hard-working crew and the composer who brought them together.

    Special Thanks:
Harvey Goldsmith, Steve Kofsky, Shalini Singh, Mark Botting, Marissa Bellon, Joe Eley, Sarah Childers, Nicolas Cabarrou, Krisztina Lukácsi, Brad Bradley, everyone at Remote Control Productions, everyone at Groove Masters, the entire crew for your hard work and dedication, the entire band for your passion and warmth, and Hans Zimmer for your kindness and support.

This video should be shown to anyone who thinks ticket prices are too high. Consider that these are all union musicians, so at least $300 per musician per day of rehearsal, at least $200 each per performance, plus cost of all that gear, the techs, the riggers who set it all up, the insurance etc....

I feel privileged to have been able to watch this inside look at the process. We saw Hans Zimmer in 2024 in Amsterdam and it was by far the greatest concert I've ever experienced! We're planning on another trip to Europe in fall, 2025 and really, really hope he's touring then. And I also hope that Czarina is performing with him; her beautiful voice brings tears to my eyes.

There's a beautiful chaos playing out on the rehearsals. Everyone is focused on their own thing, Hans is constantly jumping from one musician to another, there's the tuning problems, others are still deciding what variation of their instrument are going to play... Yet, when the backing track starts, everyone jumps in and works perfectly. Like unorganized ants which suddenly form a line and don't break formation. I love it

@Kelly Clarkson hes overrated at best and hardly a genius. His music is pure kitsch and simple. He doesn't even orchestrate his own music, and often the orchestration is the only thing that's good about it. A true genius, like Mahler for example, knows his music in and out. Mahler conducted his symphonies and he heard every note that wasn't played perfectly.

It amazes me just how much Hans is involved in some of the seemingly minor details like guitar tunings and other such things that a composer of his stature normally wouldn't be bothered with. He enjoys his work and his fellow musicians and it shows. This is the kind of person I'd like to work with some day, but I just don't know that I'm good enough.

He improvised his own music. Always riffing. Always creating and utilizing ideas from other band members while magically integrating it into his music without hatcheting their input but keeping their purity to make intrinsic with his original root creation and gently exploding into a melodious 10 minute epic. Sorry if this jibber sounds like a poem, but the music made me SAY SOMETHING. So there.....

Honestly this is one of the most inspiring videos to watch as a musician. It shows how some descent work and good collaboration can achieve an amazing result from almost nothing. I've obviously first seen the concert in Prague and it looks like almost impossible production to put together. But then you see their first rehearsals in the studio and realize it's not much different from what you are used to: a lot of question, people trying out parts, the weird rehearsal studio sound. They all play regular instruments that everyone can buy in any music store and still in the end, after two weeks of rehearsing it all comes together and sounds just fantastic. Thank you the one who put this video here. It's something I really needed to watch. Stay inspired people and keep making good music!
