Somebody below said chinese sword forms are pretty, but useless & are like dance training. I say yes chinese jian forms are indeed like a dance, but a dance of death. These movements are to keep your body flexible & strong as well as making it very hard for your enemy to predict where your next strike will be. As we know of course real sword fighting is extinct & not used anymore, but it was used once upon a time! Just because something isn't used anymore does that mean we should just forget the legacy it left? The space shuttles & old rockets are no longer used to go into space, did nasa just scrap all of them & forget about them, no they preserve them in a hanger for all to see as they are part of history. The chinese Jian sword forms are a part of history & the shaolin temple is it's hanger.
I really like this Shaolin Qi Xing Jian form.. much better than the Northern Shaolin San Tsai Jian set that I was taught.. much more flowing and beautiful with better dynamic power.. I think over the centuries..when monks occasionally left the temple and taught the common people, certain details were lost and then passed on to others, the sets being incomplete. So its nice to see authentic Shaolin Taolu in all its glory.
This is Wudang not shaolin. Wudang arts wasnt even connected to the Mongols until after the Song Dynasty. Wudang ancient arts came from the old Indies of Ancient South America loong before the rise of Ghenghis empire. The secrets of Taoism came from Yadaha(Judah) who ruled the lands of Shem or Shama! Wudang had its influence even in Japan wushu.
This is pretty good , it's not performance art like people try to pass off Everything looks like garbage to me if it isn't Wudang San Feng Pai or Shaolin
Those are training swords. They can't afford quality blunt swords, nor do they have to. Because they're not fighting in battle. Also if you were a trained swordsmen you'd see the many counter strikes, reposte, feints, and parries practiced in the forms.
梁疯 Those floppy swords are actually indicative of chinese martial arts. No one uses real swords anymore, that's why they can't fight. Those forms are just that forms, memorized and stylized. Once it might have been a deadly combat art, but no longer, no one knows what those forms mean anymore, they are just a dance now. None of those chinese martial arts teaches real combat anymore, its just fitness training and dance training.

So pretty and yet absolutely useless in a real fight. And what's with the flappy sword? It's going to give way the first time you use it to block.
