Great episode! Good to hear you and Jen speak out about these issues! There should be better laws in place that hold malicious people accountable for instigating violence and hatred, especially if it is aimed towards marginalized groups.

I listen all the podcasts on Spotify but had to drop over here to say great episode, it's always nice to catch up with Jen. That was an interesting angle on what freedom of speech was actually designed to be and it seems like the people shouting the loudest about it don't realise they've been sold a lie. There is freedom but not equality of speech.
Right. The government isn't stopping anyone, but clearly those who succeed most based on the dominant culture biases will have the largest platforms because they will have the most resources to create the platforms--or in this case buy them and control the content. They don't even have to ban marginalized people--just open the flood gates to bigots and the marginalized people will find the platform too hostile, when combined with the hostility they experience day-in and day-out in every other aspect of their lives, to stay. It's not as overt as banning, but works as effectively.
