It’s sad how few people know Weta is the driving force for some of the biggest and best blockbusters of all time. Who would have thought Peter Jackson’s company would become this size.
It's the same as George Lucas' ILM, when he still enjoyed doing it or even Jim Henson's creature shop (Weta did the Dark Crystal too). The point is that it takes a visionary storyteller to make the tools to make visionary storytelling. I think Lumiere was the same. Chaplain too.
WETA absolutely outdid themselves with Alita Battle Angel. They finally touched the holy grail of replicating a human being in complete CGI and immersing you in the experience as if Alita is a real person. I cannot wait for the sequel.
Am i the only one who thought that, although the visuals are absolutely amazing, the dialogue is just awful? In my oppinion it was just as bad as in solo. I kinda liked the movie overall but these dialogues really didn‘t do it for me.

If you're into CGI and you don't know Weta or your wet dream isn't to work at Weta, you're not into CGI. I know you're an entire team of people working on a few frames during days but it's every time stunning what you bring to us, and on every movie you set the level higher and higher. Kudos to all of you and keep up the good work.
@@jam7778 I was talking about more realistic (as in: Smaug's fire was more like burning gas that was splashing around whereas in GOT, some of the fire looked like a propane tank jetting a fire out especially when done by Pixomondo VFX) Also, the award shows mean nothing. The new The Lion King movie was nominated for best VFX when the entire movie was 3D. It wasn't good VFX, it was good 3D which in a way is good VFX but, it really isn't Visual Effects, it's really good 3D (1917 won the Oscar rightfully because there were flawless VFX sequences that were 100% photorealistic, not an entire VFX movie)
I've loved WETA's work all the way back to the Frighteners and still get to be totally enthralled by WETA's work on Alita: Battle Angel today, so thank you all very much for making my days brighter and happier!

Ive been to WETA Digital. 30 mins away from home. the place is so small for some of the huge projects they work on. crazy to think that such a small studio produces this amount of incredible quality work for hollywood.

LOTR and Avatar look incedible for their age. Literally couldn't separate them from GOT scenes at first
IMO, Smaug's fire breathing looked 100 times better than the GOT fire breathing.
