Super was good in the last 2 arcs. But Jiren was a boring villain. He was powerful for being powerful's sake, and had little personality outside of that.
For some reason "No you don't, this is an ambush." is my favorite line of the episode... Tied for second best is "Bitch I'm adorable" and Trunks' external screaming in the deleted scene.
It's interesting watching your reactions because you get some of the references half of the time, and the other half they fly over your head (self-references or otherwise). Legitimately entertaining to see which ones you'll remember/get! ^_^

All the references to their own work, as well as any and all parts of the actual series are super intentional in places, and just fitting in others. Unless you're saying that there's also a timeline where Frieza destroyed Earth, despite it being obvious that Whis could actually alter time.
