Employment and Labor relations court temporarily stops lecturers' strike

The Employment and Labour relations court has temporarily stopped the strike called by the universities Academic staff Union (UASU). Justice Jacob Gakeri issued the order following an application filed by Inter-Public Universities council’s consultative forum of the Federation of Kenya Employers. In a quick rejoinder the unions said their strike is on saying the order by the court has been overtaken by events. The unions who declared the commencement of their strike today say their actions were prompted by the delay in signing of their 2021/2025 collective bargaining agreement by the government.
