I started doing web sites in 1991 on campus. I had no idea how early I was except that I kept getting asked why a graphic designer would want to know HTML. I forced my boss to add web sites as a service for the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) by creating graphic standards for web design. I never did get a full time job there though in spite of what I did for them. I also made them use the first digital camera to do the catalog. They couldn't believe that it was possible to take a digital picture and use it for print. The camera was made by Apple and took 10 black and white photos and or one color one. I remember asking Kinkos if I could send them a digital file and they had no idea what I was talking about. We always printed digital using a docutech. I sent the file as a PDF. This was in 1991. I think we only had five servers in the entire world at the time.
Damn, a true pioneer here! I've been late to the party because I was only born in '92 but I got into graphic design in the early 2000's because my dad was running the frist copy-printing shop in town and I developed our first internet presence together with him in 2002. Later on, I ventured into many other facettes of design only to now being back into creating websites. Truly, I would have never thought that I could make a career out of this, but I'm so glad that I stuck with it all my youth and early adulthood even if I studioes something comnpletely different, because I always thought I'd be a top 1% artist to make a living with design. Do you mind telling us, how your career path advanced after that? I'm curious :)
I used to make colored text by making fake links. The web had one color and that was black text. The pages were also light gray unless you added code into the page.
I built my first website in 1997 for fun. Today... It's me primary living. We've come a long way. :) Oh... There were still search engines before Google. I preferred Alta Vista.
I preferred google, I can spent hours searching for all kinds off stuff. With Alta Vista, I can spent hours searching one thing....page 121...no, let's try page 122...no...
We just get started.. right now the creative process is faster and you still can go deep if you want. 2024 is the Manifesting Year. Don’t loose the wave ~
Nice trip down memory lane. i think AI and it's evolution is a question mark as to how (human) web designers can compete with this new technology as time goes by because i find it hard to assess what AI's constraints are in how it potentially can overtake us.

Great review!
I remember the Flash era - it was crazy back then!
Really enjoyed putting together this trip down memory lane. And yes, I know I left a lot out!✌️
We have been waiting for you for a long time, whatever you bring will make us happy.. Never mind
This is really beautiful, and the flow of the video was seamless. 🔥
FYI: The thumbnail image says Web Wesign.
So much nostalgia for seeing that 2advanced studios page again!!!
Same

Its really well put n informative how this videos enlightened me on a lot I quickly jumped into without understanding the roots of web technology
The hilarious idea of 'under construction'. Because pages were thought of as fixed completed things.
👌

I feel I'm contributing to this as a developer and that makes me proud. but the future... 🌚
Hi Flux Academy,
Can I translate your videos into Arabic and publish them?
I don't think anyone can create good furnitures... But websites?
