Hi Carrie and Brian, Another great video! Here are a few more things that I like to add to my travel bag: washcloth (and bar soap) - most airbnb's only have liquid soap and no washcloth; mini-bag of powdered clothes detergent or detergent sheets (hard to find small quantity of detergent); water bottle (rather than those plastic disposable water bottles, but if you stay hydrated with craft beer, you will be ok!); 2 extra plastic bags (to consolidate snacks like nuts, fruit, greens, etc.); sweater or pillow for neck for airplane sleeping (if no room for neck pillow, wrap your neck with a sweater); small rinsable towel (great if you want to picnic or swim in the morning while waiting to check in your next hotel); disposable spoon and fork (if eating groceries in your hotel); passport + vaccine card holder or plastic bag (so you don't lose that covid card!). These add a little more weight, but work great for me! Thanks and safe travels!
I also would add a universal drain stopper. When you need to wash clothes around the World it’s amazing how many places don’t have stoppers and I love a hot bath after a long day of travelling. ❤
The most important thing that we always carry is an extension cord to charge all our devices because the electrical outlets are always hidden or awkward to reach. My travel emergency kit also includes a clothes pin and some duct tape (wrapped around a plastic straw), a few zip lock baggies and some plasticware! Most places don't provide wash clothes so we carry our own.
(1) rubber sink stopper (2) rubber door stop - jam it against the outer door when you're inside for cheap, dependable safety (3) tiny keychain LED flashlight - find at REI or outdoor stores (4) quick-dry camping towels in various sizes with zip pouch (5) BeFree filter bottle for safe water anywhere, plus an additional filter (6) stainless steel spork (7) first aid kit *I'm a hiker, so a lot of my travel gear is teeny, lightweight hiker gear!
Hi again, I forgot to mention shower slippers are a must. I recently watched a Derm on TH-cam who said they never travel without them to protect from athlete's foot. I never thought about that till now. But they dry fast & can be used as slippers on those cold tile floors. I'm using them now in Puerta Vallarta.
Thank you for another wonderful video. Quickly just some of our must have travel essentials: Our Pacsafe day packs and wallets - so much peace of mind. Tru Earth Eco Laundry Strips (no plastic bottle and no mess from powder), a Nellie’s Stain Stick and a portable travel clothesline and a few pegs. Definitely my Shampoo and Conditioner bars, the Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Bar (again no plastic) and a bar of body soap. Our pack towels and washcloths. Pack towels are great for just throwing in our day packs in case a swim happens or you need something to sit on during a picnic. They take up almost no room and dry quick. Packable travel cutlery set and drink straws. Small to go coffee mug. Stainless steel water bottles or our LifeStraw water bottles. A BUFF. Travel umbrella. Reusable shopping bags and two or three reusable cotton mesh produce bags. Stasher Bags filled with snacks for the plane and then used during the trip for food storage, day snacks.
Such a great list! I do agree with the strange blue light from tv’s or smoke detectors which somehow keep me awake! We travel with a little roll of black electrical tape to cover them. Love your videos
Brian and Carrie, we are so happy we found you two. We love your videos and you are the best and far better than everybody else doing travel videos. Brian has a great sense of humor and would love to bump into you someday, somewhere. Take Care and THANKS!~
Just an added thought too, something I do when I travel nowadays is to include a small handful of OTC meds for pain (Ibuprofen or Tylenol or aspirin) something for diarrhea or constipation too and last but not least is Oragel for toothache.. Last thing you want is to get to a place when pharmacies are closed and you are in pain or having diarrhea..not fun.
I have a "kit" I travel with. Going to Algarve in March I'm undecided about carry-on or checked. So prob leave the knives at home☹️... *A 3 bowl collapsible set, middle bowl is a sieve, collapses into a small disc that fit into each other(souvenir purchase from Azores I love this thing.) *2 knives a paring knife & chopping knife both have plastic blade covers *Couple Mesh bags for covering up fruit or shaking out water from washed lettuce, one for food one for laundry. My traveling buddy & i eat fancy salads for dinner usually that we make in our Airbnb or resort/hotel rooms . So the mesh bags comes in handy to cover up cut up veg or as a make shift salad spinner/shaker.... *2 foldup grocery bags *Small bag of single cutlery set & metalstraw, hate using plastic *Small bag of food grade plastic storage bags in various sizes(takes up no room, but sure comes in handy). *Universal plug *Tiny set of silicone spatula & tongs *Small travel salt shaker... *Blue dawn liquid dish soap (the one with the ducks on the label) in a small squeeze container... The best stain remover for clothes. I even take this kit on road trips & when I visit my kids & family. My travel buddy(sister) & I love to cook and usually eat out only for lunch, when we do eat out or a golf course , and pack food stuff for the rental car excursions. Most people go to the beach.... We go to farmers markets, deli's, thrift stores etc & grocery stores. Looking forward to March/23 and cheap wine country. I have the best memory of Maui waundering around with my coffee at 6am with all the other tourists suffering from time change I happened upon a block of garage sales one Saturday. It was great, chatting with people from all over the world in a backalley at dawn while haggling over a bowl. Who knew there were garage sales in Maui.
Thanks for talking about the make up eraser as well! I’ve heard other TH-camrs talk about that, but I just didn’t believe it would really work! Putting on my Christmas list now! Cheers! Dara
Great list C&B. Agree 100-percent on the cold feet issue in apartments. 😢 Thanks for your tip. Here’s a few I would recommend: 1) LAUNDRY. Tru Earth Laundry (as previously mentioned) is a life saver for those unexpected events and when the apartment doesn’t have detergent. Noted by others and highly recommended to all. 2) STAINS. I use Tide Instant Stain Remover. Small container, doesn’t count as a liquid and works most (not all) of the time. 3) BAGS. I carried old plastic bags w/me for years until I discovered the Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack. It folds into a very small ball and opens into an 18-liter backpack. Bonus? Also has a side pocket for a water or wine bottle. I prefer to be hands-free when I buy items from a market or grocery store than carrying a bag in my hand. It’s a little difficult to refold but I did discover the trick-fold the bag from the back side of the backpack. Cheers.
Have you ever tried the Spray & Wash Stain Stick? It even gets out oily stains after they've been through the dryer, just amazing stuff! It's in a deoderant-like package, so I just carve off a chunk and pop it into a tiny ziploc for travel. And no need to wash right away- just rub it on the front and back of the stain to coat it, then wash whenever.
One of the things I always bring are “wine diapers!” Ok the imagery isn’t great, but that’s what it is. For when you want to put bottles of wine, port, beer, spirits, liquid whatever, into your checked luggage, Wine Diapers are plastic sleeves with an absorbent material inside it (hence the “diaper”), so that it the bottle breaks, it can absorb up to 750ml of fluid. The absorbent material also acts as cushioning. I prefer the ones with a reusable ziplock closure, instead of the one use seals. It’s not a guarantee it will protect everything, but reduces the potential problems of something breaking, and leaking through everything. I’ve brought many bottles of 🍷 back to the US, without any breakage. I wouldn’t leave home without them. 😊🥂
Greetings from Romania. I really liked your time in Romania and I watched you with great pleasure, you are natural, educated and look very good together, you complement each other. And everything you said about my country was objective and realistic. We look forward to seeing you again!
Check out the video description for links to all the items we mentioned! Do you have any travel gear you won't leave home without? Over this last year, we have realized those key essentials that make traveling full-time so much easier. Let us know if you use any of the items we mentioned or let us know what we may be missing - cause i'm sure there is something!! Cheers 🍻
Dindi Naturals solid shampoo and conditioner have been my go-to for years. Also I highly recommend a Scrubba bag which is like a dry bag style where you fill it with water and washing detergent then scrub your clothes! Fantastic!
The phone pouch is great, I used it for my passport. I don’t like to carry my passport when I’m out and about, but in some countries, it is mandatory to have ID.
You are both such unselfish people for sharing your knowledge. Thanks for the tips; they are highly appreciated. Not every TH-camr is like you. Blessings. Roger
Saludos from Puerta Vallarta, Mexico! We are really enjoying a long awaited trip here. A must do is the steep climb to the Mirador for a 360 view of the city & sea. It's not for the faint hearted but for anyone who likes a hike well put it on your list. Free to do too. Good footwear is a must here as all the streets are huge cobblestones & everything is uphill. It's amazing to see all the properties built on the side of the mountains. No wonder we saw some burros on the back roads. Very steep inclines here. I agree with Carrie about the makeup eraser. No need to bring anything special for cleansing. Good tip about the TSA bags too. That's on my purchase list. We always enjoy what you have to say.😎
We plan on being in Mexico fall of 2023. We haven't figured out our itinerary yet but have been to Puerto Vallarta in the past and loved it!! Thank you for the tips and for watching our channel. Salud!!🍻
That TSA bag is a lot bigger than what TSA says is allowed. I have TSA Pre check as part of my Global Entry so the whole liquid thing isn’t even an issue since it stays in my bag going through security. But I can see an airport in the US or elsewhere saying no to it since it’s not the quart size .
We have never had a problem. We have been through airport security checks all over Europe and the US (21) and have always been asked to pull out our liquid bags. Cheers!!!🍻
Minnie and I had to rewatch..... Starting to pack..... We're looking at the camera and microphone you guys use.....🎉❤😊. Nearly 60 percent of our stuff sold. Heading out.....Fiji for two months..... June 15 whoop whoop.
Still using the microphone or different one? As divers the GoPro 11 might be a better option for us..... We're watching your TH-cam for beginners..... Look to make for family and friends to follow our adventures. If you're in Fiji lol let us know.... Consulting fee for showing us the ropes. 😜.
Bar shampoo/conditioner is the way to go!!!! Love that stuff! We've become very eco friendly the last couple of years. Also, if you two se mouthwash, check out georganic mouthwash tablets. 😉😘
Just want to thank you for this video. I watched it before our trip to Mexico and was so happy to have the reusable shopping bags. In fact a few people came up and asked me where I got them as apparently the packable ones are hard to find there.
We love those bags, we use ours almost every day! We are also planning on going to Mexico this fall. Excited to be back in the same time zone as the US! 😆 Thank you for supporting us and watching our videos! Cheers!!🍻
Hi guys! Already ordered the TSA approved toiletry bags. Was going to order the slippers but they’re not $3, they’re $17. At $3 we were going to order 2 sets one for the trip to Europe and the other for the return. Different story at $17. Love your video’s! Safe travels!
Very true! The ones we got at a grocery store in Greece were $3.00! I need a new pair and the cheapest ones I can find that are similar are $17!! 🙄Thank you for watching and safe travels as well! Cheers!!!🍻
Love all these things guys. We got the adapter before we left and it’s been a lifesaver! I also purchased the makeup eraser upon Carrie’s suggestion and it’s truly been a gamechanger as well. Going to look into the Surfshark and reading the other suggestions here as well. Thanks for always helping us out B&C. You guys rock!! 👍🏼👍🏼
I’m glad to hear you talk about the solid bars for shampoo and conditioner! I bought some but still haven’t use them. What is holding me up is figuring out what to put them in when I’m traveling. What do you do?
You're very welcome ♥. This is the one I use and have been very happy with it - plus their plans are VERY affordable. airalo.pxf.io/c/5129205/1310283/15608
@@BrianandCarrie Good to hear. Apart from Thailand, Singapore , Indonesia try to visit Cambodia, Angkor Wat as well. I had been to Singapore and Cambodia so beautiful. But be aware it is going to be extremely hot even the winter time frame. We carried cold towels during day trips to sites. Cheers
You guys are super helpful. I absolutely love this video, but I have one request of you for a future video. Would you consider doing an in-depth tutorial on SEO that would help others, like me, go to a higher level of exposure. Thanks. Roger
Hi, Roger. We did a video not too long ago explaining how we shoot our videos from start to finish. Keep in mind that we have a lot to learn as well but the video will give you some ideas. For the SEO score we use Tubebuddy, it does seem to help us get a higher score. We will leave the link to the video below. Good luck and keep vlogging!!! Cheers!!🍻 th-cam.com/video/JQ5YY_fBecM/w-d-xo.html
I carry the (very) small and inexpensive GLinet Mango router. Connect all your phones, tablets, whatever to it at home then when you travel just connect it to your local WiFi. All your devices are instantly connected also! It even has a VPN capability built in. Just turn it on and that Firestick/Roku/Chromecast Google TV device works like back in the states. As a bonus, you can put a media stick in the USB slot and enable its media server so anyone connected can watch without internet. As someone else said, a rubber sink stopper and a rubber door jam!
TSA Pre-check is good, though my suggestion for anyone traveling internationally, is to pay the extra $15 to get Global Entry, which comes with TSA Pre-check. Extra score is if you have a credit card that credits the cost back to you, when you charge to that card. 👍🏼🌏✈️
Hey Guys! revisiting your video’s again, getting ready to leave for Portugal in march thanks for all the valuable info and fantastic videos still trying to find the video where you mentioned the credit or ATM card you use and what bank if you can give me that info will be much obliged!!!
Hi Folks, Thank you so much for all the information, tips, and advice you have provided us over this past year! My wife and I are about a year from taking off on our own adventure, so we’ve been diving into as many videos and such as we can in order to be as prepared as we reasonably can. I must say that while we were initially encouraged by what we were told (by many) about how inexpensively people were finding flats/apartments across Europe, the Balkans, etc., my most recent explorations have yielded far fewer options. Initially, I thought we might find reasonable places for around $1000 or under. Granted some of these postings were a year or more old. Now, it appears that the lesser expensive places are closer to $1500-$2000. Am I correct? All of this by way of posting my vote on hearing more precisely what you folks actually spent per month….most interested in housing costs. Thanks Again…and good luck to you!
Hi, Jeff. We still believe that you can get a decent place for $1000 depending on location and time of year. We also have "Cost of Living" videos on our channel for each country that we visit. We reveal our costs from rent to food and everything in between. I believe there are 7 such videos. Thank you for watching and commenting!! Cheers!!!🍻
Thanks….I’ve seen most, if not all of your videos…I’ll go back and review. I’ll also continue to explore options, other than Airbnb, for finding places. Cheers!
We do believe that Airbnb prices have increased over the past year. Looking into other options is a great idea and will most likely be doing the same thing!
Hi Guys! Thanks for the videos. I went to WWU (from Bellevue), which is what caught my attention when I came across one of your videos.…you being from Bellingham. Question on the Adapter you presented. Do you know if it converts the voltage? And if not, have you ever had an occasion where you couldn’t plus a device in because the native voltage was too high? Looking forward to your next video!!!
Hi Paul! That's so cool, such a small world isn't it ☺. The power adapter that we use doesn't have a voltage converter. It does have a light that will tell you which voltage it is using though when plugged in. For us, this has been sufficient and has worked perfectly fine for our laptops, camera gear, and phones. The one area we did have to purchase specific items that needed to have converted voltage was my hair dryer and hair straightener (i also believe some electric razors need this as well, but Brian doesn't carry one). Hope that helps! Cheers 🍻
FYI Paul-an ‘adapter’ will only allow you to fit your electrical device into an electrical socket that you’ll find when you travel abroad. A ‘converter’ will change the voltage (typically between 220 V and 110 V). I find more expensive electrical items (like a computer, cellphone) will have dual voltage built into those devices so you don’t have to worry about different voltages-but you’ll still need an adapter to plug your device into the socket. Cheaper electronic devices generally do NOT have dual voltage built in so you have to check the specs of your device before traveling abroad. Hope this helps. Safe travels. 👍🏻
I was wondering what you guys do about water while out exploring? My husband and I each drink a few liters of water a day. Are there places to refill water bottles or are you constantly having to buy it?
I don't see a link for the soap drainer that you recommend. I only see the soap container. Can you share the link for the soap drainer? Thanks so much! I am always disappointed with the shampoos and conditioners I buy on vacation and you are so right-I end up throwing out a bunch when I leave because it's a liquid and can't bring on the plane. I didn't know bar shampoo and conditioners existed! Thank you. I am going to try on our upcoming trip overseas.
We do not have a "home" but we do have friends and family back where we are from. We sold everything so we don't have a storage unit. We have three house sits while we are here and will also be staying with family for a couple weeks as well. Thank you for watching! Cheers!!!🍻
We prefer not to focus on death but rather live life to the fullest. There is insurance that will cover the transportation of your body back home if that is your concern. Thank you for watching!!

Thanks guys!!! 🙂
Yes, you still need an adapter to plug it in. The link below is from Amazon..
@@BrianandCarrie We got ours months ago and happy to have it!
More bloopers pleeeeezzzee!!
Thanks again. Always helpful. On my 16 month countdown.
Thank you, Scott! 16 months will fly by! 🙂
I’m glad to hear you talk about the solid bars for shampoo and conditioner! I bought some but still haven’t use them. What is holding me up is figuring out what to put them in when I’m traveling. What do you do?
We just let them dry out and put them in a plastic bag.
PS, LOVING your videos! 😁
Thank you so much!! We appreciate the support!!
Cheers!!🍻
Have you ever departed from Heathrow? Have they made you change your liquids' bag into a standard Zip-loc one?
We have departed Heathrow twice and have not had any problems with our TSA liquid bags.
@@BrianandCarrie Thank you.
Thanks for the info. Looking for a good eSIM for four months in Europe and UK. Any suggestions? Thx!
You're very welcome ♥. This is the one I use and have been very happy with it - plus their plans are VERY affordable. airalo.pxf.io/c/5129205/1310283/15608
I liked the bar shampoo and conditioner. Happy New Year 2023. I am sure you were back in USA. 👍
That is good to hear!! We are back, we leave for SE Asia later this week. So excited!!

Wow - that is a fantastic suggestion, we'll have to look into that! Thanks for watching - Cheers 🍻
Thanks for this list (especially 3 and 4). But I would replace number 1 with sign up for TSA PRE.
Great point!! We may do this in the future. Thank you for adding this tip!!
Cheers!!!🍻
TSA Pre-check is good, though my suggestion for anyone traveling internationally, is to pay the extra $15 to get Global Entry, which comes with TSA Pre-check. Extra score is if you have a credit card that credits the cost back to you, when you charge to that card. 👍🏼🌏✈️
@@johnperkins5450 I agree. I wish I would have gone that route to begin with.
@@johnperkins5450 Completely agree. So worth it!
I cannot disagree with any of them. Looking forward to your Asian trip. Hopefully Malaysia will be on the list? Penang?
Busted! Carrie is wearing those earplugs around the apartment so she doesn’t have to listen to Brian 😂
😂😂
Hey Guys! revisiting your video’s again, getting ready to leave for Portugal in march thanks for all the valuable info and fantastic videos still trying to find the video where you mentioned the credit or ATM card you use and what bank if you can give me that info will be much obliged!!!
We use Charls Schwab. They have free international ATM fee withdrawal, so we get reimbursed at the end of each month.
Need a wine opener for sure.
Good call! We purchased one while traveling. Thanks for the tip!
Cheers!!🍻
You will have to buy it; however bottled water is very inexpensive in most countries. In Greece it was .27 cents a liter and Albania even less.
9 more months for us then the fun begins to move. YIKES. Hey, whatever happened to your hat? lol.
James, it fell apart in Croatia and didn't make the trip back home! 😂
Thank you for pointing that out, Jasmine! We just added the link!
Cheers!!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Do you keep the bar soap in a plastic bag when you are traveling?
@@jasminehayes4810 Yes, I find that's the easiest way to travel with it and takes up no extra room.
Get a cheap dollar store 🧽 they have thin ones. That is what I use for my bar shampoo and conditioner.
@@BrianandCarrie add to that, no excess weight.
❤❤❤
😁❤
Where did you get the slippers?
My new white ones i found at Sierra Trading Post.
@@BrianandCarrie Thank you!
I went and couldn’t find any! 😩
You say “when we go home” do you still have a place in the US , a storage unit etc?
We do not have a "home" but we do have friends and family back where we are from. We sold everything so we don't have a storage unit. We have three house sits while we are here and will also be staying with family for a couple weeks as well. Thank you for watching!
Cheers!!!🍻
Wait a second are you telling me that no one makes powdered/freeze dried beer?
I'm sure that will be available soon!! 😂
What if one or both of you pass away on your travels
We prefer not to focus on death but rather live life to the fullest. There is insurance that will cover the transportation of your body back home if that is your concern. Thank you for watching!!
Cheers!!!🍻
I got surfshark by clicking you link the other day. I hope you got credit for that.
We do get credit for that John! Thank you, we won't promote anything that we don't believe in and use ourselves.
Cheers!!!🍻
