- SCREAMING EAGLES IN VIETNAM - Department of Defense 1967 - PIN 30205 - COMBAT MISSIONS OF THE 1ST BRIGADE, 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION, FROM THE SUMMER OF 1965 TO JANUARY 1967: OPERATIONS VAN BUREN, HARRISON, HAWTHORNE, JOHN PAUL JONES, AND PICKETT.
I got to the 1st Bde 101st Airborne Division on Feb 15, 1967...and spent 1 year before I went to E Co (LRP) 20th Inf (Abn) First Field Force Vietnam...I was suppose to go to the Bde LRRPS but then the Division arrived in Dec 67 down in Saigon so when we heard the whole Division was coming and it would be Airmobile, a lot of us left the Brigade...I'm glad I did since E/20/LRP which later became C/75/RGR was the best unit I ever served with in 23 years in the Army
"RANGERS LEAD THE WAY"
I have read about ranger lurps..brave and indomitable soldiers, plus they didn't stain their honor like the tiger force.
You know you're in for some vintage shit when there's jazzy bongos in the opening credits.
Sad...incredible valor and bravery in the midst of a futile war...impossible war for fighters who sought to do the impossible...they completed their missions....while their govt. knew it was all for naught...forever sad.
In honor of Spec4 Allen Keating, Lt. Dennis Reardon, Capt. Johnny Lyon, Lance Cpl. Wayne Newcomb, and Lt. Gen. George Casey Sr....my heroes.
@@frankfkling304 SouthVietnam was over run , eventually . And, lost my uncle mid-3/ 68 , tail end of bloody ass TET near Pleiku , Central Highlands , SouthVietnam . Happened nearly 14 days b-4 my 11th bday .

101 AIRBORNE ARTILLERY THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE 👊
1st Bn 501st Inf, 101 Div, 1971-72 fire-base tomahawk, all the way!
The true combat forces (I.E. the one's who actually fought.) was a small percentage of overall force deployment and the incidents you speak of was in direct relation to poor leadership at the smaller unit levels. The best reading on the subject I could refer you to would be a book by David Hackworth called "Steel my soldiers heart", 100% fact and shows the difference a good ground commander makes. I would also suggest looking into any of the many VN vet forums on line, truth from the source.
The USAs last strong generation that went and fought a real war. 🇺🇸
Sgt Joe- 3/506th, 11 Bravo. '69-'70. We became Reaction Force for II Corp.
Nice Historical Document Thx for posting!
Put it in proper perspective was a brilliant hard driving Union General , and Cavalryman laid a devastating path of destruction toward the sea via Georgia , and parts of S.C. . His name "William Tecumseh Sherman " and his succinct quote "WAR IS HELL " .
Taylor looks happier than a kid in a candy store. This was his baby. Irregular, conventional warfare. Ten years later those choppers would be coming back in the other direction.
Thanks guys for your service. what a waist of good men.
The Perfect War: Technowar in VIETNAM, youtube it, its awsome vietnam truth/war strategy. there was method behind the madness
the Herd made only combat jump in Vietnam
The war is always struggled to attempt success over the enemies.
I was with the 101st from '69 to '70 and the division was based at Camp Eagle in the Hue / Phu Bai area. The area of operations was from the DMZ to the Hai Van pass and from the North China Sea to Laos. It included the Ashau Valley. Good times!!
my dad was in 101st and never talks about it ...wish me could
Lord will blessed all who fought for the blessed ,must they die or not. The day will come .
leave him alone he will speak when the time is right if it ever is
The 187th Parachute Infantry Regiment definitely fought in the Korean war.
Then there was I thinking NK fought the UN to a stand still. The great Bug out called advance to the sea. We all have ghosts in the closit.
The Americans ran like rabbits from the North Koreans. The American in charge of the American Marines called the retreat /Great Bug Out/ Advance to the sea. 42 Royal Marines fighting a rear guard action save many Americans.
The UN sued for peace. Another stupid war. add to Iraq and afganistan.
"the chicken men" as the vietcong called them, they were no chickens
I was sitting in class one day working on my laptop, I had a 1st Cavalry Division and 101st Airborne Division sticker on my laptop, a teacher took notice and told me of when she was younger, her father worked on military bases as a mechanic, fixing helicopters in Ft. Hood
RIP Charles L. McClain. Vietnam. I miss you Dad!
To us, they were known as the 1-0-worst.
We took over there compound in Da Nang, at camp Hoa Long near 80th group, on the South China Sea.
Don't know what you mean by "electronic battlefield." You'd have to be more specific as to the "pride of the US military establishment. As to those who resisted or went to Canada, I doubt they will ever show up again since its now an all volunteer force and they can stay safe at home without having to worry about being drafted. "Pre-rehearsed war tales of high ranking POW bomber pilots"? Most of the vets I know feel pretty good about their service in Vietnam.
funny how they never mention the action that the 101st saw in Korea....know why.... They didnt even fight the korean war
Any one spot major hackworth???
The 101st didn’t do combat jumps in Vietnam
But they did
THEYRE IN THE TREES
what did they know about veitnam ?
I know you know nothing about Viet Nam. You can't even spell it correctly. LOL
Bravo Blue Max 3-101 AVN
Càng xem càng thấy nhọ cho quân đội mỹ
In Vietnam dit eh 101st Airborne said "NUTS" again and stood on their ground till the Vietcongs defeated?
WWII 191st kicked ass and did nothing to stain their honor and didn't sell no "wolf tickets". The 101st in Nam never jumped but brag about humping more miles than any other unit and their feared "elite" Tiger Force formed by one bad ass s.o.b. Gen. Beckwith killed a lot of Vietnamese that were noncombatants. The 101st live off the rep of those WWII originals, Marines live up to the rep of the generation of marines that came before them and just like WWII 101st sell no wolf tickets either.

@frezdead1 yeah lol i get what you're saying

Ya those NVA had the proper strategy.
No draft and 2 year rotation would have helped.

It is so very apparent that you are 100% clueless about the conflict and I would bet you think the truth was what the media provided. As far as the Nam conflict went our armed forces pretty much had them on the ropes from start to finish when allowed to wage combat as it should have been and not handcuffed by Washington bureaucrats as happened so many times and the ROE they imposed. These facts have been stated time and again from NVA and VC sources, their best ally was the U.S. media!

July '65... a US army propaganda piece for the sole purpose to recruit the all volunteer(at that time) Army.
Pretty sure the army had conscription back then.
scream coz of scared
so your jealous right?
Our military is geared toward fighting larger, more technologically advanced armies, we have much more trouble with occupying places fighting guerrilla warfare style militants. That's why we were able to overthrow the Iraq government in a few months but got caught in a clusterfuck while trying to root out Iraqi nationalists.
Propaganda to it's fullest! Interesting footage...yes...but still......propaganda!
ha ha. Mission Impossible, Hawaii 5-0
Those 101st are a brave bunch I'm sure. But this film is just propaganda. It's like watching only the News parts of Starship Troopers. I keep expecting it to end with:
"Would you like to know more?"
nuts, thumbs down
This is some propagandist shit right here. Absolutely typical of a Department of Defense film. It is a wonder there isn't a message about venereal disease to boot.
