I remember meeting Joan not long after this interview and remember her telling me "How come a country which is so backwards in so many ways, can have such great tv show hosts ?" She really meant it as a compliment I really wanted to tell her "Shut up Alexis" but she is a dame so i just told her that us Brits were actually not really in any position to call anyone backward.
