Just started watching your videos TODAY and I've learnt so much in a matter of hours. It's unbelievable what you're going through/ have gone through! I'm going right back to triple-check my brand name- I know all too well what litigation with a big company means. You Do Not want to go there if you can avoid it! Invaluable advice Dan. Thankyou.
Glad you were able to maneuver through that with minimal damage man. Great video, I'd be up for another nitty gritty one. Side note, my product finally is being shipped! 🙌
I still can't believe you had to change the brand name because of stupid suffix...🤦🏼♀️ How ridiculous it is. I'm even angry about that and it's not my brand name 😅 Thanks for sharing so much valuable information again ☺️
Hi Dan, As always, you are the very best!! You don't have idea how much you're helping me in learning the Amazon FBA business model. Thank you!! I was wondering if a product you're trying to sell has an ornamental design patent, and your new product is customized in many ways except some similarities with the overall shape to that of the competitor's, does it preclude me from selling my customized product? Are they entitled to raise objections about their Intellectual Property? Mine has features that enhances it's aesthetics, and functionality.
Ayub thank you for the kind words. Design patents usually protect the design, the look and feel of a product so your needs to look significantly different. Avoid using the same colors and shapes etc.
Thank you for the tips. I was actually dealing with this for the first time, but on the other side. I found out I have 4 hijackers in different countries using my exact copy of my listing, my reviews, my copyrighted images, and my trademark. I found out that actually removing those via the Brand Registry is the fasted when you file the copyright issue claim. Their listings were gone within half hour of me reporting it.
@@Scott60077 I really have no idea how is that even possible or allowed. It seems as if it was an inside job...I don't know. That's just a speculation of course, but how else could someone do that? 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks Dan!!! All your videos are on point. I learn so much from these videos !!! It’s scary that you did it the right way and sought out the advice of trademark attorneys initially , and they still couldn’t predict this happening to you . Would you say the trademark attorney’s help were worth it even so?
Dan I've been keen to ask you this question. You gave a great tip a short while back about the canonical url. I tried this method and only used 5 keywords in product title which seemed to work when I viewed source code, but when I subsequently added more to the title the canonical had changed to some more random words. When does the canonical get made permanent and how do I prevent it changing? I am still in process of finishing my listing. Appreciated.
Great info, do you need a letter of authorization from a manufacturer to sell a private label product which you slightly altered/made better? And if my brand name is not yet trademarked will the manufacturer be the brand owner?
Hi Dan, Hope you are well. Q for Canonical URL. I created an initial listing with only 5 words of the title to create Canonical URL. it was created successfully but when I changed the listing title with full keywords title, then this Canonical URL also changed. Then again I changed the title a little bit to confirm that URL change when we change the title and exactly it happened. it means Canonical URL change according to the title. As I was expecting that system creates it only once and then it keeps the same after editing the full title of the listing. What are your thoughts on it?
Yes, Sarfraz, it appears they'va changed it so it now adapts. My recommendation is to make the beginning of the title your best keyword phrase as you're likely to do anyway and then this will be the canonical URL. It might take some adjsutment to the keyword but this is a good middle ground.
@@DanRodgers now the system doesn’t pick first 5 words from title for canonical URL, it can pick any 5 words from the title. We are not able to make it specific words anymore.
@@sarfrazshah usually if you put the first 5 words and then a hyphen or a colon followed by the rest of the title, Amazon will choose the part before the hyphen or colon as the canonical URL
Great video Dan. I am bit scared now as my logo is a picture taken on pixabay a free pictures website. The company name is completely made up though. Since the picture is from a free picture website, I hope I won't be facing any issues!
Hi Dan, When trying to list my product which is private labeled with my brand name. When I get to brand name I obviously can't put the brand name because amazon gives me an error saying brand needs to be registered. What do i do this case if i don't want to trade mark my brand yet?
Hello if I’m sending 16 item to Amazon FBA all item are the same. One box got 14 item and the other box got 2 item. What type of Packing type to choose Individual or Case-packed ? It’s my first time sending products to FBA.
@dan loved the video! Where did this happen with you? In US or UK? & from your experience, where does it happen more often . UK or US? We are going for UK & this will help us out.
Great video for sure. Question. If you paid a trademark attorney to verify you were good to go with your trademark and/or logo, can you hold that attorney liable if he/she missed something like this? I mean that is what you paid them for, right?
haha Scott that's a really good question/point and has an interesting answer. Although I totally agree, what I have found is that although attorney's will provide you advice which really does help, they NEVER guarantee and usually use like a sliding scale of chances of problems etc but ultimately hand the decision back to you, meaning you can't hold them liable. It is very frustrating sometimes but I still recommend this, you just need a good one like: hewittpllc.com/
@@DanRodgers Well thanks again for the info. Very enlightening to say the least. I am grateful for your videos and I feel like we are old buds since I have watched (AND LIKED) so many of them. You rock! ;)
Hi Dan, I'm just wondering, Amazon is charging for monthly storage fee per unit. if we keep restocking inventory then we would always be paying these fees every 7th- 15th of the month. is there a way to lower this storage fees? I know its not good to run out of stock in amazon.
Hey Jim, it's best to aim for 3 to 6 months of inventory. Inventory sold in the first month won't incur the fees but then it's calculated on a cubic foot basis. Bigger products are the more concerning ones here, for smaller products, it is usually not an issue though.
Hi Dan, Thank you for the amazing content. I've just registered a UK LLC and am based in South Africa. I would like to find out if Amazon will ask for UK proof of resident and how to avoid that issue. Did Worldfirst require your residential to be UK as well? Please assist Dad. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you...
Hey Dame! You are welcome! Ask the company that aided you in setting up the LLC for a registered office address. WorldFirst doesn't support rands last time I checked so you may have to go with Payoneer. For selling on Amazon UK, you should be fine as SA is on the accepted list. For US, just double check the drop down in my set up Amazon account video, if SA is there for the citizenship, you should be good. If not, one work around is to have a primary contact person (even if temporarily) who has citizenship in accepted country and associated utility bills/ID for the sign up, still in your UK company's name though. I do hope they broaden there lists soon to make this easier for everyone.
Dan please help, I opened UK limited company and Amazon USA account after watching your video, can I do wholesale FBA in USA ?? reseller certificate required don't know how to get it ??
Khurram I focus more on PL but it sounds like you may be trying to sell other companies' brands on Amazon, if they're brand gated, you'll need approval from them to do so. When you try list a product it may say "Listing Limitations Apply" if so, follow that link and you'll see the requirements
Vignesh I also had a tough verification in the beginning. You should eventually be given a verification rep who can help you with the process if it continues, just keep providing what they ask for. I hope you're verified soon :)
