Remember having to sit for ages installing DOS to then have to install Windows… Floppy disk after Floppy Disk after floppy disk… must have been about 10 disks overall just to get Windows 3.11 (WFW)
Windows Vista was ahead of its time that's why it got so many hate. I loved Vista and I never have any problems with it. It worked perfectly fine for me. I used it long after Windows 7 was out.
I think that the hardware back then wasn't up to the right standard like nowadays that's why Vista didn't run well on some people PC. SSD wasn't a thing back then so of course the OS is going to run buggy.
Load Vista on an SSD now and see how well it worked.
2000 was probably the easiest setup I ever used. No BS, straight to the point, no adware and took less than 10 minutes.

Oh I loved Windows Longhorn II thought it was a great operating system I don't know call me weird but I sure loved it I seem to be in development for a pretty long time and it was pretty stable as well I thought it was unique I thought it was creative I thought it was beautiful. I've actually run it on actual hardware back in the day so and I was kind of bad in thinking that Microsoft should have kept the Under the water background for Windows 7 I also know there was another beta build that had the beta fish in there but then there was also a build that had the regular underwater setup screen and I thought that was like beautiful and then they changed it to that weird pattern that they made for Windows 7 and it never looked as great as the underwater setup screen let me don't get me wrong windows 7 was a great operating system but still I didn't care for the background that they had for the setup stuff and it seems that Microsoft is going to seem to keep the purple background setup for Windows 12 as well it's going to be the same as 1011 and now 12 then again why change it it looks good
The easiest and fastest installers were from vista to windows 11 23h2...the windows 11 24h2 new installer will be tedious because it'll need more restarts than ever and sooooo sloooooow because the OS will be probably be deployed using UUP containers instead of just decompressing a single WIM image file like previous versions of modern Windows (those with winRE/PE environments)

Microsoft has not innovated anything since Vista, the Setup remains almost the same. And if we think about it, what we have now on the PC is a rebuilt version of Vista with the modern improvements of today.(LONGHORN CODENAME)
