  • Malapascua Island is located off the northern tip of Cebu Island in the Philippines, known for its incredible scuba diving opportunities and encounters with the elusive thresher sharks.
Thanks to its remote location, everything on the island is a little bit more expensive than the mainland. This is especially true when it comes to eating, as dining out at any of the western style cafes and restaurants along the beach will easily set you back more than $10 per meal, expensive by Filipino standards! However, if you’re on a tight budget but still want to eat some delicious local food, then head over to the town’s night market after sunset. Here you have a smorgasbord of fresh seafood and meat ready to be cooked in any way you want it - I highly recommend the sizzling hot plate! An average meal here with a drink will only set you back $5-7, just don’t go for the lobsters…!

Sorry this was before COVID so I have no idea how the island was impacted since it relies heavily on tourism. Best to contact one of the local dive shops or hotels and ask
