I love Jorma. He introduced me to all of this great Rev. Gary Davis stuff and more. What a great talent! And his COVID TH-cam concerts helped so many fans get through that abismal time.
I haven't heard this song for 20 years. I first heard it by Hot Tuna, with whom Jorma played I believe. I heard a sermon today about "keep your lamps trimmed and burnin'" in Matthew 6 about being ready when the groom comes for the bride. That is Chistspeak for, be ready when Jesus comes back! Great song....Great savior!
I was there. One man onstage, 3000 enthralled souls entirely captivated for several hours. There isn't another rock guitarist in history who could have done it. I saw several Kaukonen solo shows that year, two on the West Coast that were solo electric. I'm not sure if The Bottom Line show was. At those, Jorma had about 5 of his guitars standing up on the stage, including his red ES from the Airplane, a green abalone swirl ES, a Gibson Revenger or something with a metal flake American flag on it, others. Solo electric. I KNOW there isn't another rock guitarist who could do THAT. Kaukonen has them ALL outclassed.
I always tell young players to start out on an Ovation. I had two in the early 70's and for the money, they play better and sound better than any guitar I can think of. As for Jorma, the last time I saw him was in Oregon, 68'. For all the great Bay area guitarists, he had the unique sound.
They sound like plastic but in the seventies the worked in a live situation. Even Jorma moved on to something else. I think that he now uses some kind of acoustic/electric hybrid (Gibson) when it is called for.
The most under appreciated guitarist of the last half century😊

the best acoustic man, perfectly playing.
After you have experienced electric Tuna, there is no going back.

A very spirited rendition of this classic…❤👍☮️🎸

I just realized how much he influenced my choice of tunes and playing.
thank you
I remember when Jorma showed off his new Japanese Tattoo. Coved his entire back. He called the tour JORMAS BACK!
That was excellent!
One cool cat. And this song should be the anthem of our generation.

Even so, come Lord Jesus!

My older brother, his college friend, and I saw him live in NYC in '83 I think it was - at The Bottom Line...

HighandDry Perhaps so, but I couldn’t get used to the round back, myself.
@@DavidMFChapman yeah that's the only issue with ovation, but for the money they are a really great guitar!.

if you wanted to play an acoustic live, and wanted to be heard..you played an Ovation 🥺
