On a December night in 1988 - December 20 to be exact - six men gathered at The Birchmere, a legendary music hall in the Washington DC suburb of Alexandria, Virginia...Each man a master of his craft. I have been listening to bluegrass and Country since I was 4 years old my Grampa and Dad loved this kind of music. I remember listening to the the Grand-OL-Opery Radio Station WSM-650 Nashville Tennessee, Saturday Night. I had ran a long wire antenna from our old outhouse to my bedroom, and hooked up to my radio antenna.

🧲 I use to go to the Birchmere all the time. But once my hair grew out, I realized that hippies were not exactly welcome there. So I never came back. The Seldom Seen was one of the best bluegrass bands ever at the Birchmere.

Ole Mike Auldridge was a smooth character. Douglas and Ickes are amazing, but Mike was right with them. Rice came to my home town fair with the Seldom Scene. I nearly lost my mind. Great video of a bunch of legends. Thanks!
