Yeah, I did a run, started in the east and went tradition hunting towards africa. Ended up with traditions: Horse Lords, Horse Breeders, Pastoralists, Dryland Dwellers, Saharan Nomands. In Songhay (Africa). Also stayed tribal till I was properly vested in Africa. Didn't mixed it with Konni sadly though.
Whoever leads the army in a battle gets the prestige from the win. If you're close to death put your primary heir as the army's leader so that they can already have lots of prestige before you start playing as them.
After my heir comes of age I start making him the leader of my raiding party’s and army. It’s a great way to build prestige and money for your next life while you can always get prestige from hunts and other events as the player.
I don't think this is entirely true, from my experience. I always farm experience in the early game through raiding but I don't always use my ruler, and definitely not an heir. But there is perhaps some prestige bonus that I'm not aware of?
Another thing you can do is forbid everyone but your heir as champion. Go fight some weaker armies and within 2-3 battles he will get Legendary Blademaster (and berserker if norse). Appoint as court physician as well for Physician traits.
@@fredriktornelius yes a great big one that you can double with a dynasty legacy. Easy to get a 40-50 year old living legend on your first ruler if you can get stack wipes. A stack wipe is worth 600-1200 prestige depending on number of troops. If you use an entire force of heavy infantry or even better heavy cavalry you can stack wipe a 5000 man army with like 1500 guys and the level of fame and prestige this generates is pretty broken. Especially with sea wolves. But you gotta use your ruler.
The advantage you had was that you were basically surrounded by feudal realms, if you were to play in eastern europe around poland you would be not only raided all the time but everything else around you would also have being raided not allowing you to make enough money
Playing as the any tribal on the steppes in More Bookmarks is lit. Just...pure...chaos. I got my duchy and feeling strong with 5k dudes with allies meanwhile Tang Dynasty has like 30k 😅
if you are near the coast you can just sail to far away lands pretty quickly. Just make sure you invest in a large regiment of men at arms so you can carry more loot.
As strong (in early game) as tribals are, in ck2 they were utterly broken. You could make massive armies of retinue (ck2's men at arms) with just prestige and you kept those after becoming tribal. I did some messing about with them and I had 20k retinue troops in 925.
My brother knows nothing about CK3 but he always watches your intros with me because they’re so entertaining. I love the quality of your vids and how you explain everything, you’re always helping me get better at the game
Here's a challenge idea: Can you be the Ultimate Bro Wingman? Can you make your AI liege into an emperor? I've had thoughts on how to maybe do it, but it'd be cool to see someone better at the game take it on.
I like to start/take Sardinia early and swear fealty to the king of Italy for low feudal obligation. If your orthodox with luck the king will trade a hook for your conversion so you can get free council rights otherwise just up levies for it. build your econ/army help with wars to take or hold parts of the de jure empire of Italia while hoping the king does not get much outside of it. What your hoping for is one son to get Italy and any extra land and another to get the Sardinia e Corsica but little else so you can start a claimant faction to give that title to king of Italy. this stitches the realm back together and gives you a hook to further improve your contract. May have to help grab some of Romagna to get his county count high enough as well as help him get the gold to form the empire. The tricky part is waiting for the next succession to take the Sardinian throne as squishing the emperors armies risks having the empire title (and all the work you put into the vasal contract) evaporating without a fight to a disilution faction.
Tried it with Strathclyde, conquered/gifted half of Britannia and that motherfucker just refused to become a king. Being a living legend Count in like 1020, feels bad man.
Until the high medieval era, only the chinese cultural MAA can counter horse archers. They also have excellent base stats and gain large positive modifiers from a single building both in tribal as well as feudal holdings that can be built in most terrains, allowing you to focus heavily on economic buildings as feudal ruler while still gaining massive benefits for your horse archers. They are probably the most cost effective type of MAA. Feudal rulers can even scale their pursuit, allowing you to stack-wipe almost any army.
@@JohnSmith-bs9ym Chu-ko-nu's were a type of repeating crossbow, so you are indeed correct, though the game does not distinguish between them. The game classifies crossbowmen as archers too, for sake of simplicity. The name of the unit was copied from the wiki and should also be found as "Chu-ko-nu Archers" in the game, despite historically being the very first types of crossbows ever. While they did have the advantage of being able to fire with much higher frequency than medieval crossbows, the medieval crossbow had the advantage of being able to fire very heavy projectiles at far higher velocity than bows, allowing them to penetrate heavily armored opponents. The literal drawback, was that they were exceptionally difficult to load and often required assistance of mechanical levers or winches, effectively causing them to have a low rate of fire.
Please do more CK3 playthroughs where you explain what and why you're doing. You're really good at it. I learned a lot from this and your noobs to pro vide.

Something I wanna say about county control that I don't think is covered enough is the court seneschal, most of their aptitude comes from stewardship and even a pretty crappy one will give you a base 0.2 control growth in your domain. They only cost 0.5g/month which in my opinion is extremely worth it. In my early game before I can grant titles to women I often have daughters that are educated in stewardship (so that they can educate nephews, grandsons, etc in stewardship). They are excellent candidates for seneschal as they will have a great aptitude for it and they are part of your dynasty and you have the golden obligations perk, you're giving an income to someone that you can demand payment from later down the line and rotate them out once that hook has been used, making the court position essentially free. To clarify that a bit, with my play style I generally prefer to give my daughters matrilineal marriages with unlanded men that have tier 3 congenital traits rather than marriages for prestige / alliance. I think this pays off in the long run because they give you perfect candidates for vassals - dynasty members educated in your own court, that are very far down in any line of inheritance. Combine that with the fact that you get to arrange their marriages and can prioritise congenital traits, you'll have strong blood in your dynasty in 1-3 generations and genius duke/king level council members within 2-4 generations. That golden obligations thing is pretty min/max though and pretty quickly in your campaign 0.5g/month should become chump change that you don't need to think about at all.
So if i was to combine the old Norse and also Dutch Culture I could double up on good infantry bonuses yes? Plus in being stoic and having dexterous fisherman you have an automatic +10 defender advantage. Another broken part would be also being Prolific hunters as you gain passive and doubled active prestige gain from said hunts. You can use the free prestige to either purchase or maintain more men-at-arms with a mechanic that you already use constantly in game.
until recently i have been playing exclusively tall. because i learned how to play this game from your videos it never even OCCURED to me, that i could expand and build a huge empire
You should add the line from ‘The long kiss goodnight’ where the guy gets thrown out of a truck and complains on the radio that he’s hurt pretty bad and he thinks he’s dying and the bad guy is really annoyed and says “Continue dying”. Use that after the other clip when the guy says I’m dying, help me.
I though that the trick of marrying for prestige, divorcing using piety and remarrying, over and over again, was well known by now. You can get thousands of prestige that way. Unless you think it's an exploit.
Only watched 4 minutes but had to comment, I've started here before without any of the DLC the guy doesn't get any of those special troops but it doesn't matter, you could curb stomp your big chunky neighbor to your East and full on subjugate him, take his entire Kingdom with one single war that barely needs you to even recruit any extra regiments than what's given at start to fight him with. If you didn't go into the debug menu and execute your starting character I'm certain with those special units there's no doubt in my mind, you would have been EASILY able to take everything within the beginning diplomatic range by simply sneezing on them all.
While watching this vid I had a thought about vassalage in this game. I feel like the map colors should be offsets of your own with any CA that allows them to declare wars on their own. It would help with at a glance information, including who owns what to an extent.
This is a very good video since I really dislike playing tribal. Thank you fit showing me a good way to play it and how to make it fun to play long term. Having onegers as tribal is interesting..
I Think that tribal is the best at conquest, and raiding for tons of money! Tribal is great at War, but is also decendant on it! Once you Can no longer raid for supplies, due to YOUR feudal neighbor’s having gotten fotresses that takes months to sige, and/or siege equipment that tribal players just dont have, you have to settle Down, and start building upwards, instead of just expanding and raiding outward’s!
Finally you play as the Best nation in the game. Soo owerpowered soo fun! Just one Quick mention u should make a culture with the russians soo U can be more powerfull early.

I recommend doing what I did when I first got into Ck2 (method works for Ck3 as well). I didn't watch online tutorials, I didn't even do the in-game one. I just picked a realm and winged it. For Ck3 I recommend the start as the duke in Sweden, you're relatively powerful and are already close to being able to form a kingdom. This method worked for me at least.

Bjorn doesn't need it. Through his high personal diplomacy, true ruler perk and befriend he can unite Denmark, Norway and Sweden without single war (okay, maybe one war is actually needed to create Sweden). Diplomacy lifestyle is utterly broken if you could get higher title than your neighbours and you share faith with them.
Hiiii just cane in here to drop the idea of 50 clan vassals with iqta and ghazi contract. Iqta gives -2% maa to you and 10 to the vassal. Ghazi gives +10% piety to you and the vassal. With 50 of them you have free men at arms(almost) and 500% piety modifier. Did a run recently and 10K of just horsearchers and lighthorsemen costed 8 gold to maintain and i was getting +50 piety :D. Ofc vassals give you almost nothing but you dont care since you are over vassal limit anyway:D. Also vassals get +15 opinion and since they all have one county its easy asf to beat up factions. New favorite way to play.
@zeiley Thanks for all your content, really enjoy your videos. However, this video saw you use horse archers and abuse an existing game mechanic to make your start as the King of Hungry not the small nation you stated. Also, the near inability to take Constantinople did nothing to distinguish Tribal as a form of government. The strength of the horse archers and your Marshal know-how were cool to watch but but that could be accomplished with any form of government. Again your content is usually stellar. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Always love seeing new videos from you mate, great on the editing and the production values overall. I wonder what new challenges and things you'll come up with next time!
DId something change since this video came out? I'm playing as Hungary, but every holding is castle instead of tribal after winning that war against Bulgaria.
when you were fighting Byzantines you could only raise man-at-arms and kill all of them anyway without even breaking a sweat. 20 prowess knights with 346% would stack wipe that 10k troops
I'll do you one better. Right next to your Magyars is the dutchy of Konugardr. Although Russian in culture, the ruler is a Norse genius. Not only does he have Insane stats, he also starts with an absurd amount of starting gold due to historical reasons. But the really fun part is 'Raid Over Water'. If you think raiding the Bulgarians is fun, try raiding the Pope, or Venice. Or if you really get your Viking brothers together, raiding Constantinople. Not for the prestige (although you get plenty) or gold (lots) but to fish for the Crown Of Justinian for that sweet +1 domain. (likewise, it's a lot of fun to steal the pope's hat if you can get it while raiding the Vatican. As you stated, +1 prestige per month is nothing to sneeze at.) In my current game, I managed to marry my daughter to the leader of the Khazaria Empire, and he eventually declared war on Byz for some counties on north end of the black sea, bringing me in. We smashed the Byz army flat when they landed on the shores of their territory, leaving the Emperor not only without an army, but by the end of the war, over 1k in debt. As the war drew to a close and he finally conceded, the Khazarian army stood down from their siege of Constantinople, got on their boats and were about to sail home when my dude in a rowboat walked up and said "Hi, I didn't declare war, HE DID. My turn. I'll be taking that city now." Byzantine was left with 300 troops, 1000 in debt, and 14k troops sitting outside his city walls. It was a bad day.
As a side note, I think there is some background shenanigans going on with Jarl Dyre ‘the Stranger', or rather his wife and son. I've started (and restarted) several games as Dyre, and every time (not sometimes, not most of the time, EVERY time) his son has turned out to be fairly garbage. In the above game, his best stat was 11 (and iirc, that was prowess). I wasn't even playing as Dyre in that game, I had made my own ruler (which resulted in Sif, his wife, becoming my terrible regent, and Dyre going to rule some county for another ruler). It dosen't seem to matter the circumstances, the boy always ends up bad. Furthermore, if you stay married to Sif, your first few children (sometimes even all of them) end up nearly as bad. Almost no quick, let alone intelligent children, and their stats tend to be on the low end. However, if you divorce her and start having babies with a new wife, suddenly geniuses start popping up everywhere. TLDR, if you play Dyre, divorce your wife, disinherit your son, and get a new family that doesn't suck.
Clan is pretty good cus you can get 90% cheaper men at arms by having 45 vassals with iqta vassal contract feudal has feudal el##ive and tribal has raiding and men at arms for prestige
@@RaphaelAmbrosiusCosteau51 giving a clan vassal the iqta right decreases the levees and taxes they give you in exchange for reducing men at arms maintenance if you have enough you can get men at arm maintenance very very low
I too took Constantinople as a tribal ruler to cap Byzantine empire when I convert to feudal. Too sad, hagia Sophia is disabled of you hold it with a different faith. I wonder if it possible to place a regular duchy building instead of it
tribal rulers should not get levies and tax from vassals with higher prestige level so it balances things imo, also would make succesion less stable and more fun and unpredictable
If your victory exceeds 200% due to you having captured the enemy leader, try ransoming them for a fat stack of gold first. I don't know why so many people haven't realised this yet.
@@buwanbuwaya6927 ransom first (assuming you don't need them for the war score). When the war ends any prisoners that give war score are automatically released.
Has anyone tested when you don't need prestige on your character because about to die can you make your heir as your commander to start banking up prestige for when they die or does that not transfer?
Well I see Mr Shawnee seems to think this is click bait claiming it's 'not' the strongest government, bit harsh. I often start as Iceland in 1066 catholic tribal AND Norse is sweet. Pre kingdom lvl I get prestige by raiding (lead them yourself for more prestige and free Viking trait), hunting and feasting. Get an artificer and personal champion ASAP get all the items you can to keep your army running. Other ways are building gathering halls, the dynasty tree glory tree lvl 2 then up the pillage tree and a few cultural perks for hunting and feasting (hunter and reveller get prestige). As soon as you have a 1500 troops go for man and an easy target duchy in Ireland and boom, kingdom. After that your adding to your monthly prestige buy adding artefacts to your throne room, you can fill every position because you have a ton of cash and nothing much to spend it on! Believe it or not if you get some quality items you can get to the top 5 courts in the world with 7 holdings! As for building if you take feudal holdings give them away then you can build stuff in them (not duchy buildings) then take it back. Also absorbing cultures nets you free innovations and I'm pretty sure if you absorb trebuchets you can build them. Sorry that's a lot but Zieley does good videos and 'strongest' is subjective. Pretty quickly in 1066 I can have an equivalent sized army depending on how much territory you've got, more prestige and gold than I can spend and you can reach a court grandeur level of 10! The main argument against it is tech, but I'm sure military stuff can be absorbed and I've never really missed it. By mid game your sitting on your throne with a huge army costing practically nothing and a ton of allies and money to back you up so I would argue it's better simply because it's easier to maintain and get to earlier. Probably overpowered.
Playing the game as a newb, im wondering what the point is in trying to become feudal. Many profound downsides against few modest upsides, kinda ruins a sense of progression in the game.
Tribal can not advance past tribal innovations and they can’t construct new holdings or even upgrade existing ones much. So by the late game they are less OP
So... you're Hungary. You led your tribal Magyars to the doom of many realms and then raised your kingdom's flag in their place as the new powerhouse in the making. You've become a historically accurate Hungary.😂😂😂😂
Combine the Magyar and Polish cultures so you can recruit Konni and Horse Archers and have the most broken cavalry in the world

Croatians have it too and are already in your dejure kingdom. Edit: and you can do Sloviens too for good measure and strong and cheap heavy infantry.

My mans Z out here handicapping hisself and still winning with the tribal government. Are you not entertained???
I’ve been addicted to your videos lately
@zeiley Thanks for all your content, really enjoy your videos. However, this video saw you use horse archers and abuse an existing game mechanic to make your start as the King of Hungry not the small nation you stated. Also, the near inability to take Constantinople did nothing to distinguish Tribal as a form of government. The strength of the horse archers and your Marshal know-how were cool to watch but but that could be accomplished with any form of government. Again your content is usually stellar. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Babe wake up, Zieley dropped another banger
I love the vid man !
Day one of asking Zieley to update this for tours and tournaments.
imagine if the pilgrims had to fight native americans with fucking swords and mail.
Would love to see you play mount and blade 2 bannerlords!
I really wish thry gave more complexity to Tribal governance
Zieley just casually blackmails a cannibal 👀
Always love seeing new videos from you mate, great on the editing and the production values overall. I wonder what new challenges and things you'll come up with next time!
Taking Constantinople always makes the byzantine empire shatter in my games
Hmm yes lore momentum of hungry 100
ngl raiding is so fun
I think tribals are great, but trying to siege down a level 3 castle with onagers takes literal decades.
ANOTHER ZIELEY VIDEOOOOO WHOOP WHOOP!!!! Love from me and my friend owen

As you stated, +1 prestige per month is nothing to sneeze at.)
In my current game, I managed to marry my daughter to the leader of the Khazaria Empire, and he eventually declared war on Byz for some counties on north end of the black sea, bringing me in.
New video of Zieley - You've made my day c;
Clan is pretty good cus you can get 90% cheaper men at arms by having 45 vassals with iqta vassal contract feudal has feudal el##ive and tribal has raiding and men at arms for prestige
Huh
@@RaphaelAmbrosiusCosteau51 giving a clan vassal the iqta right decreases the levees and taxes they give you in exchange for reducing men at arms maintenance if you have enough you can get men at arm maintenance very very low
Maybe try to do the same thing but in 1066 instead
‘God save us from the arrows of the magyars!’
I play most games in tribal. I can raid for gold and load up my men at arms with prestige.
I mean eventually the appeal of the development must draw you to feudalism right?
inspirational!
100% agree tribal is best
I dare you to play a game where you don`t build a single building and become the head of the most powerful realm! A true wide playtrough!
ou could be a fun idea!
@@Zieley please
I'd love to see an attempt at a wide playthrough, because frankly it doesn't seem viable.
tbh i always just go down commission epic it’s fucking absurd with tribal
I love how the first thing you did is marrying your mother to some lunatic
Just to make them fight for you
Very surprised you didn’t eat Bulgaria 1st.
I too took Constantinople as a tribal ruler to cap Byzantine empire when I convert to feudal. Too sad, hagia Sophia is disabled of you hold it with a different faith. I wonder if it possible to place a regular duchy building instead of it
What s that sad singing voice sound effect you re using?
tribal rulers should not get levies and tax from vassals with higher prestige level so it balances things imo, also would make succesion less stable and more fun and unpredictable
Give us more than 1 hour video
As a tribal ruler I do not have four building slots. Has that been nerfed?
Laughs in gavelkind
Love watching and even listening to your videos, keep it up!
If your victory exceeds 200% due to you having captured the enemy leader, try ransoming them for a fat stack of gold first. I don't know why so many people haven't realised this yet.
Do I ransom them first or enforce demand then ransom kind of way?
@@buwanbuwaya6927 ransom first (assuming you don't need them for the war score). When the war ends any prisoners that give war score are automatically released.
Or convert their sons to create some havoc
Has anyone tested when you don't need prestige on your character because about to die can you make your heir as your commander to start banking up prestige for when they die or does that not transfer?
Zieley why don’t u just imprison ur sons and move to dungeon to fix succession
of course tribal is the best government in tribal age 😅
try taking byzantine or arabia in 1300 as a tribal realm
Prestige my beloved
Same in real life.
With a good foothold in Europe. Aren’t you already in Europe
How did he get so many hooks?
Nice
How do I turn off debug menu?

Tribal is a problem for playing tall
Tribal government 2 op pls nerf
Playing the game as a newb, im wondering what the point is in trying to become feudal. Many profound downsides against few modest upsides, kinda ruins a sense of progression in the game.
Tribal can not advance past tribal innovations and they can’t construct new holdings or even upgrade existing ones much. So by the late game they are less OP
So... you're Hungary. You led your tribal Magyars to the doom of many realms and then raised your kingdom's flag in their place as the new powerhouse in the making. You've become a historically accurate Hungary.😂😂😂😂
