Meet Jan, a boy born blind and disabled due to epilepsy and severe brain swelling.
His small, fragile body struggled to endure the hardships that life had thrown at him since birth.
Neglected by his owner, who wanted to rid themselves of Jan's care, he was cruelly abandoned, thrown out onto the street without a second thought.
His condition worsened quickly.
Alone and frightened, Jan’s seizures became relentless, and his deformed legs could no longer support him.
With no strength left, he lay on the cold pavement, his tiny heart fighting to stay alive.
Hope was slipping away.
But just as the light of hope was fading, a kind woman found Jan in his desperate state.
She could see that time was running out, but she refused to give up on him.
Without hesitation, she rushed him to Apollo Hospital early that morning.
The moment they arrived at the hospital, Jan was immediately examined by the medical team.
His body was fragile, his breathing labored, and his eyes-eyes that had never seen the world-were closed, as he didn’t have eyeballs.
His seizures were continuous, draining him of any remaining energy.
The doctors worked swiftly, drawing his blood, giving him a saline infusion, and placing him on oxygen to stabilize his breathing.
His blood tests showed alarming results: both his red blood cell count and hematocrit (HCT) levels were dangerously low, leaving his body weak and vulnerable.
Jan’s swollen brain caused his seizures, which constantly damaged his fragile nervous system.
Watching him suffer broke the hearts of everyone around him.
His fight was just beginning, but it was going to be a long, difficult road.
Day 10: Jan cried and struggled as if his body was fighting against itself.
His head, swollen from the pressure on his brain, was too heavy for him to lift.
Day 15: There was a moment when Jan tried to stand, his small body trembling with effort.
But he couldn't.
His head was still too large, his body too weak.
But despite this, his will to fight shone through, and those around him saw a spark of hope.
Day 27: Slowly, the tide began to turn.
Jan’s seizures became less frequent, and his overall condition started to stabilize.
He cried less, and his emotional state began to improve.
For the first time in weeks, there were signs that his body was healing.
Day 40: Jan’s recovery continued.
His little body, still fragile, was growing stronger every day.
They could see he was destined to be a sweet, resilient boy.
Day 60: Jan’s weight steadily increased.
His once small and weak body was now growing, and his caretakers marveled at his resilience.
Day 68: Jan’s sweet, gentle spirit was shining through.
He weighed in at 870 grams, and though small, he was growing and thriving.
Each day, Jan grew cuter and more playful, his innocent nature touching everyone who met him.
Day 77: By this time, Jan was sleeping well, his body finally finding rest after months of pain and suffering.
He spent his days in peaceful slumber, his breathing even and calm.
Though there were still many challenges ahead, his journey over the past three months had been nothing short of miraculous.
He had fought against the odds and won, and his future, once bleak, now held the promise of a life filled with care, comfort, and peace.
