The day is the 11th of November, 2011. You go to your local cd or game store and buy The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Unaware that life will never be this good again.
I was so addicted to skyrim when it released I was failing like 7-8 classes in middle school consistently due to how much time was put into playing it.
hey actually yes, i saved money for ten years, to build an ultimate gaming pc, just for skyrim, playing skyrim on pc has been my dream for ten years, thats how much i loved it
I'm 61 now... I LEGIT took two weeks off work (vacation time) when this game came out. It SUCKS you in! The graphics, the story line, the DLC... all of it! And I still play it to this day.
Elder Scrolls lore is addictive.....I read and played the games so much I can speak and read Dov now. I missed a whole month of life back in 2015 and *modding* nearly broke my brain lol.
Skyrim came out on my eighteenth birthday. I had sixty bucks and a choice between hitting up a strip club, or getting the game. Easiest damn choice of my life, I still ain't ever hit up a strip club.
Me and my friend and I used to stay up for 48 hours straight playing skyrim and chatting it got so bad one of my friends got his stuff locked up and they caught him at 4AM trying to pry open the safe his dad kept the game in.
all these years later and the trailer still gives me Goosebumps. Also since she mentioned Game Of Thrones, the voice to the trailer is the 3 eyed Raven actor Max von Sydow who voiced the character Esbern
Actually GoT producers approached Bethesda (the studios who produced and released Skyrim) to create a Game of Thrones videogame, but it was so similar to the project they have already been some years under production (Skyrim) that they HAD TO decline their offer. Telltale studios picked it up and released GoT videogame in 2014 for nearly every console and device there was back then.
What Skyrim and Witcher 3 did with me was crazy. I actually spent entire work vacations on both of them. There was a few times I forgot to eat, shower and whatsoever for a couple of days because I was playing. Nowadays I still hold these kind of games to play during my work leave so it doesn't make me lose my job or anything. It's what I'm doing with Baldur's Gate 3.
I learned that you could mod Skyrim a year ago and I said “I just want to make a few changes to the base game and spend maybe an hour or two a day” wow those 4 months really felt like 4 days
I bought Skyrim 3 years ago, thinking this was gonna be like a summer game session, I was gonna finish it, and that'd be it, great game. I did NOT anticipate to keep playing it for 3 years FOR HOURS every single weekend and holidays, vanilla Skyrim was fucking awesome but with how easy it is to mod you can literally play a new game each playthrough! I felt like it was such a steal for the price I bought it, it honestly makes you feel like you're buying 20 games or more for like $5. The trailer still brings tears to my eyes, the soundtrack is too beautiful.
I usually watch the whole video before leaving a comment if I feel it's warranted. This video I paused at 2:55. The sheer joy my guy is feeling watching the video is so obvious, man this is one of those extremely rare things that bring an unexpected and greatly appreciated natural smile from me. That's fscking awesome. Keep being you playa
By that point in my life I was sunk all the way down to the bottom, this game actually brought me back to the surface. I am no psychologist, but I'd bet that gambling addiction and videogame addiction are on the very same page.
Here I am 13 years later. I've played the original, got the DLC, played the legendary edition, the special edition, and the anniversary edition. I started playing a modded version on PC, never looked back. This game has been a staple in my gaming library across 2 consoles and a gaming pc, and every couple of months, I start a new playthrough. This game is like the ultimate power fantasy and it earned its player base.
I like your grin while watching it i have 6k hours in skyrim and I still play it I smile when watching cool stuff i've never seen b4 like videos or stuff that is new to me in game play. Either your a great actor or really enjoy the game or the video cause hard to fake smile for like 5 min and have it look genuine. Since I believe the ladder I'm gonna stick with that. I finished your video I was right you played it and like i said I had this for just about 2 years and 6k hours but never lost my life it but alot of free time but im still living so I don't owe her 20 bucks.
I remember playing this game for the first time. It was Christmas day when I got it and I played it from about 3PM to 5AM all the way through to boxing day. No game has ever had that much of a vice grip on me before or since (except maybe the Witcher 3). Naturally, my mum was furious that I'd missed Christmas dinner but my brother helped calm her down because he understood what that game was like from playing it, obsessively, at his dad's house. To this day, I'm still not sure whether I'd have wanted to put down that game to have Christmas dinner with the family. That sounds bad but it is genuinely one of those games that only comes around once a generation.
I'm 80F and I'm so addicted to this game it isn't funny. I have over 200 mods that I've added. Thank God I was retired when the game came out. My daughter will probably bury my pc with me when I am finally gone.
I lost my first job because of Skyrim. I hated the job anyway and I got sucked into Skyrim so much. When I think of Skyrim or hear the music now all I think is "home".
Fortunately my daughter was a teenager and gone a lot in 2011. I played all day every day. I still cooked and those kinds of things but i lived most of my life in skyrim. I don't play as much now, but i do still play. My oldest grandsons are now playing, though they prefer fortnite (they're 11 and 9yo). In 2021 and 2022, i ended up in hospital on life support twice. My son in law was always telling me i had to get out and back to skyrim. I'm a 60yo grandmother and i love skyrim and my Xbox. Lol. It's real, baby! I won't say it ruined my life. It has enhanced it by allowing me to do things in game that i can't physically do in real life anymore. (Though I'm a lover, not a fighter, i do enjoy the fights. Lol) But yes, it's a very addicting game. 😊 Btw, when my oldest grandson was a baby, I would get him to sleep by taking a horse out to the countryside or just taking a walk and the music and scenery would put him right to sleep. I'd also read him stories from the game, get him to sleep and put to bed and go right back to playing. Lol
Thousands of hours... Thousands of mods... And then fallout 4 and Skyrim se happened. My gaming laptop was not made to handle games that need a NASA level CPU just to play at 60 fps with 1000+ mods lol.
My brother got this game Christmas 2012 or 2011 when we were teenagers and I gave it a try and I got so into it I used my dad's debit card to buy a dlc for it without his permission he yelled at me and smacked me upside the head one saturday night I spent all day and night playing it one time I got into an argument with my dad my brother and grandparents about skipping dinner just to keep playing it and he spanked me and slapped my ass silly
Hours upon Hours playing, you got into exploring the old tombs, trying to puzzle your way out and I have had jump frights because a dragon came out of nowhere and scared me so hard I sprinted straight into a couple of bandits, got them after my ass and vaulted myself over a fence into a hagraven. Luckily I got out of that one, but I could hear the bloody murder she and the bandits dealt to one another, with the dragon roaring in the background. Ah the good ol' days.😆 Of course you being a deciding factor in the war and dealing with certain questlines I chose not to fulfill the blades's final request as I still feel mad as hell for them asking that specific thing. Those that know, know what I am referring to. Also archery & sneaking was so broken.
I started gaming late, I discovered Skyrim 3 years ago and it became MY game. I can spend 12 hours on it, luckily my partner understands and feeds me when it happens 😂
I also use mod to give my character money (that where the developers get you to be addicted to the game). I told myself "I work to get real money, am not going to burn time doing side missions to get game money". so once I start the game I search for money mod n gift myself $1B, so no side missions for me, especially in mass effect 2 n 3 where you have go to different planet in search of minerals for upgrade of weapons etc. Man I don't have time for that!!!
This game came out during my freshmen year. Still havent beat everything!! 😂 Awesome react guys keep em up!! 3:54 he's not lying i skipped school more than a few times to play this! 😂 It's very addicting and still has a great following and still has mods being made to this day!!
Beware! Introducing someone to Skyrim carries a heavy price. Be warned. Housework. Homework. Making food. These foolish things fall at the feet of the power of the Elder Scrolls! 😂
Thank you for sharing this. My wife still doesn’t believe how addictive this game was. Hopefully she will see after reading these stories, lol. I don’t regret my time in Skyrim though.
I remember sitting in class daydreaming and planning out my days in detail to maximize the time I had to play. I've never done that with any other game
I grew up with elder scrolls. Especially Morrowind and oblivion. I saw the trailer at release and everyday for two weeks I went to every game store in town including Walmart to purchase it. They were sold out for the two weeks until I got lucky and bought the last one GameStop had. 12 years later I still play this game (now in moderation)
The Live action trailer is great too. Oh by the way. At one point this was a Game of Thrones game. Then Bethesda said "nah". People also named their kid's Dovahkin.
One time when my parents were away I played Skyrim for an entire week and forgot to go to school. Luckily that was year 11 so it didn’t really matter all that much but still
3:50 "There is no way" Meanwhile, Larian Studios posted "Request for special leave" form. So yeah, there is good amount of games that make people take vacation specifically to play certain game. Skyrim was one of them. I'm not big fan of Skyrim (while played good amount of Morrowind), but still spend >100 hours
back in the day when i got into the game , i literally stayed up a few days playing and i didn't want to stop, i will never play that game again though
Im from germany and it was immediately a hit here and its still amongst the 10 best games of all times. Bought it on day one and played for 3 months 8 hours per day. Ive visited every cave, every corner of the map and when i was done i restarted as a new character. And after that i bought all DLCs and installed tons of mods. Its 12 years old but i still do a playthrough once per year because i just love how well its made. 900+ hours ingame....Games like these are maybe a reason why i never married and never got children. I need the money for great hardware.
This was the game that turned me into a gamer. I would spend *hours* skulking through caves and tombs, and just exploring to see what was around the next hill. I did not lose my job over it...however, I ended up buying the game specifically *because* of my job, because I would come home frustrated and angry, and hopping on Skyrim to kill bandits and face off with dragons was an amazing stress-buster. Furthermore, this was the game that got me writing fanfiction. I am a writer anyway, but I'd always focused on original stories before; but I found my Dovahkiin endearing enough to actually start a story of her adventures. Which I enjoyed enough that I am currently in the process of filing the serial numbers off it so it's an original story that can be published!
I played Skyrim on it's release date in 2011 and although I loved the game I haven't played it since. I've just finish Elder Scrolls Oblivion again and Skyrim is up next.
Yeah this game has without a doubt had a major impact on my life lol. Probably have 1500 hours in it over all editions of the game, and that's not counting the hundreds of hours I've spent modding it
Literally played this game 18 hours ago day for over six months straight. Coming from someone who has struggled with addiction…. I assure you, this game was drug.
CONFESSION! - I play on PC + with 100's of mods from The Nexus and others, I have passed 8500 hours and counting. Add Fallot 4 (4000 hrs) and Witcher 3 (2000 hrs), both still being played. As for social life? mmm..
Not that many people know that Skyrim was supposed to be a GoT game, Solitude? Hibernalia? The factions? The deal with the dudes making the series fell off so Bethesda said "well, we have a mostly completed game just happens to resamble our own series of game, TES, so lets change some things here and there and lets put it together lorewise with the Scolls games so they dont shut us down with DMCA" and Skyrim was born.
I love Skyrim and Fallout 4. Sorry, a game is not as important to my real life. Any player that prioritize game over real life isnt mentally stable... The game is never a fault. The sword doesnt harm if left alone, its the wielder, the user, that allows how it affects real life.
In total, I've got somewhere around 1800 hours. not proud but damn was it fun. got tears in my eyes watching this trailer again especially seeing that big simile on your face in the beginning of the trailer
Fun fact, Bethesda was contacted by the publishing company that put out Game of Thrones to do an open world tie in. They were already working on Skyrim, so they passed.
I got this game like one year after it came out. Was the first game for the playtstation 3 for me and kind of a big thing cause it was age restricted to 16 years and I was 15 :D I played like 750 hours with several characters and even now it's simply a joy to start the old thing again and to get lost in the wonders of this world...
The game does not has the same mystic as back then, because its outdated in graphics and its a turn off for lots of people, i played a lot, most epic game i ever played, for a single player game to put you fixed on the monitor and keep your attention is not easy to acomplish...but a game from 2008 even the remastered is not the same, we always compare to others, if they do a remake or a sequence thats another story, elden ring i didnt like the characters and visualy is not the same as elder scrolls, looks like a paint and a mix with a japanese game or dark souls or something, doesnt give me the same vibe visually than elder scrolls, the design they choose..maybe i will try it when is cheaper... until then... i will play other things
When I discovered Skyrim I played all night and went to school and couldn't even pay attention to the teacher, I just wanted to go home and continue exploring the game world.
the games that got me in trouble in school was mass effect trilogy and civilization V. I lost two days straight on civilization V., it made me develop a game playing system which is never play above two hours coz the game ain't running away!!!
his grin the whole time is so wholesome

Fortunately for me I was 21 when it came out so I only lost my job.

hey actually yes, i saved money for ten years, to build an ultimate gaming pc, just for skyrim, playing skyrim on pc has been my dream for ten years, thats how much i loved it
It's amazing how good this game still is after so many years.
I'm 61 now... I LEGIT took two weeks off work (vacation time) when this game came out. It SUCKS you in! The graphics, the story line, the DLC... all of it! And I still play it to this day.
the smile on this mans face while his girl is having none of it
This goes down as one of the best games ever made with one of the best OSTs to go along with
Elder Scrolls lore is addictive.....I read and played the games so much I can speak and read Dov now. I missed a whole month of life back in 2015 and *modding* nearly broke my brain lol.

Explaining Skyrim is unbelievably difficult...Game of Thrones isn't a good comparison
One time I played this game for 3 days straight and when I went to bed and shut off the Xbox and everything I still heard the sound effects and music
Skyrim is really peaceful and has a super athmosphere i played thousands of hours it's insane.

Been playing since Christmas and now working my second play through, and enjoying it to the point of getting the AE version soon.
I got this game like one year after it came out. Was the first game for the playtstation 3 for me and kind of a big thing cause it was age restricted to 16 years and I was 15 :D
I played like 750 hours with several characters and even now it's simply a joy to start the old thing again and to get lost in the wonders of this world...
Now im gonna have to play more tonight 😂😂I was failing my senior year because of skyrim and fallout but I graduated😂
Still playing this 😆 ps5
i've spend almost 6000 hours on this game, and many times 24 hours in one time :) keep on doing videos, you're great ;)
The game does not has the same mystic as back then, because its outdated in graphics and its a turn off for lots of people, i played a lot, most epic game i ever played, for a single player game to put you fixed on the monitor and keep your attention is not easy to acomplish...but a game from 2008 even the remastered is not the same, we always compare to others, if they do a remake or a sequence thats another story, elden ring i didnt like the characters and visualy is not the same as elder scrolls, looks like a paint and a mix with a japanese game or dark souls or something, doesnt give me the same vibe visually than elder scrolls, the design they choose..maybe i will try it when is cheaper... until then... i will play other things
Very nice. Your faces 1:22 , guys, are the perfect demonstration reactions of the oldschool and new to this masterpiece =))) i ♥this
When I discovered Skyrim I played all night and went to school and couldn't even pay attention to the teacher, I just wanted to go home and continue exploring the game world.
Fun fact: Bethesda originally was in the works on making a game of thrones which later turned into Skyrim
Funny how ingame, the Unrelenting Force shout actually does jack-s**t to dragons.
I played this before and forgot I have responsibilities..... but I'm finally awake...
Can confirm. This ate up months of my life. Sadly it still does sometimes
There were three games in those times: Halo, Call of Duty, and Skyrim.
the games that got me in trouble in school was mass effect trilogy and civilization V. I lost two days straight on civilization V., it made me develop a game playing system which is never play above two hours coz the game ain't running away!!!
I put a good +80 hours for my characters and sometimes do the same character over and over again
