NYC here, there is a misconception here, in US especially in NY, when you are invited to a party, it's a common courtesy to bring whatever you feel like bringing, it's not an obligation, and a bill will not be given to you,therefore, these people are emulating the wrong concept, if you are asked to pay, all you have to do is walk away. Here in Atlanta GA, when you are invited for a party 🥳🎂🎉 all the food is Free but is ok to bring something as courtesy. Too much food in America
