Mayil (The celebration of a Peacock) by Kavya Muralidaran:
An enthralling composition that describes the experience of the nature that eagerly creates the ambience to witness the glorious performance of a Peacock. The abstract interpretation of Guru Madurai R Muralidaran has been creatively penned in a way that brings out the essence and the beauty of the composition from a peacocks perspective. In this song, the peacock looks at nature and profoundly sets off its performance as the nature accompanies and creates the ambience for the peacock to experience the magic of its dance that's unseen to many. The clouds begin to bundle, the breeze that passes through the bamboos tunes and scores the musicality, on the other hand, the rhythm of the thunder and the stage that is made of green wet grass, accompanied by the flashing lightning beautifies the dance of the magnificent peacock with the rain showering in every direction. The composition comprehends that the peacock is the first creation of the god which made mankind realise the art of dance in every human being. This composition is set to Rasikapriya Ragam and Adi Talam composed and choreographed by Kalaimamani Madurai R Muralidaran.
Kavya Muralidaran, a young, versatile dancer, hails from a family with an artistic background. She is the daughter and disciple of Madurai. R. Murali-daran and Smt.Chithra Muralidaran. Kavya Completed her Arangetram at the age of 8, accompanied by Mrudangam Maestro Sri.DA Srinivas in the presence of Guru Padmashree Adyar K Lakshman, Guru Sri Narasimhachari and Smt. Nandini Ramani and was blessed as “Child Prodigy” from all the Chief guests. Often called as a "child prodigy", her calibre has always been far ahead of her age.
Her touring started along with her parents to give several performances in USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, South Africa, Kuwait, London etc. She plays lead roles in dance ballets and also presents solo concerts. Kavya was adjudged as the “Best Dancer” from the Madras Music Academy in the year 2018 for the HCL Concert series.
Kavya completed her 12th STD from SBOA school and junior college and graduated from MOP Vaishnav college for women with a bachelors degree in Visual communication and has completed her Masters degree in Bharathanatyam at the University of Madras. She has topped in several dance competitions both inter school and inter college levels. She is currently into choreography for inter collegiate dances which she enjoys.

A Very beautiful and elegant dance.
More movements of a peacock could have been added, like it preening itself, swirling with the feathers stretched out and moving in a big circle sizzling the feathers.
Peacocks never tire us when we watch them.
I am sure adding more movements of a peacock will make this dance more interesting. 🌹🍀🌹
